Opie: Hey man! Where's Seaton in relation some of the bigger cities in the state? There are a few jumpers from Archway Skydiving in Vandalia on the boards (myself included), and a bunch more from the Chicago area DZs. -- Brian Homepage

While we're on the subject, how far can you get in CReW without dropping a wad of cash on a more specialized canopy like a Lightning? -- Brian Homepage

So the Spaceland record doesn't count? I've seen the video, and no way in hell did that go as planned.

How about this incredibly accurate simulation? (Warning, some popups. Probably not safe for work.) -- Brian Homepage

Wow. That's a perfect simulation of what my day was like back when I worked at Arby's, except I also had to squeeze high school in there somewhere. -- Brian Homepage

I'm with MarkM on this one, if you want the easy 1-2-3 setup, you will probably have to go with prepackaged software. However, somebody who has PHP experience should be able to churn out this simple of a system in a few days. How soon do you need this? -- Brian Homepage

You're gonna need a secure server if you want to responsibly take credit card numbers over the Internet. I have been ready to place an order on a few websites until I noticed that they wanted me to either submit my credit card to them through an insecure page or email them my credit card number. In one of these cases, I ended up phoning in my order (*cough* Square 1 *cough*). I took my business elsewhere on the other sites. -- Brian Homepage

Nifty. If I read that gibberish out loud, there's enough resemblence to german and dutch that I can actually understand some of it. -- Brian Homepage

It seems that what usually happens is you send the gear to a DZ that you both agree on. It is inspected and the buyer may have a chance to jump it. If everything is satisfactory the payment is made and the gear is released to the buyer, otherwise the gear is returned and the buyer keeps his money. If you just want to make sure you get the gear, you can go through an escrow service. The seller ships the merchandise to the service and the buyer sends the payment to the service. Once the escrow service has the money and the merchandise, some services will verify to the best of their ability that the merchandise is what the seller says it is. This is where you can get ripped off; how many escrow service employees could tell the difference between a brand new Stiletto and an old Paracommander? If everything is kosher, the service sends the merchandise to the buyer and the money to the seller. The US Postal Service even offers a basic escrow service for first class mail, but I wouldn't trust it for anything as expensive as a rig. If you paid with your credit card, you might be able to challenge the charge and only be responsible for up to a certain amount. -- Brian Homepage

A lot of programs that rip MP3s can also rip wav files. Take a look around different sites like download.com. There are plenty of good free programs for Windows, and probably also for MacOS. -- Brian Homepage

Awesome weekend, that jumpsuit definately looked cool... Your suit, John's rig, I can't wait until I can afford to buy custom stuff . Quick question: Did your SportRX goggles fog up in the plane? Mine got a little blurry, but it was gone as soon as I stuck my head out the door. Smileys are fun.

I saw one during Malcom in the Middle. It was a 50s Beach Blanket Bingo kind of theme. Pepsi could have done better. -- Brian Homepage

Somebody hijacked a beer truck in Orange, CA, then abandoned the truck (minus some beer), in Perris. I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything... -- Brian Homepage

There was a segment on a show called "Maximum Exposure" where a bunch of guys hitched an old ram-air canopy up to a van. The problem: They attached the rope at what looked like the left three-ring. It flew okay because the pilot could correct with a lot of toggle input. It all went to hell when the guy let go of the toggles to release the rope so he could land. On previous attempts they had been able to disconnect the rope fast enough to regain control. Not this time. The pilot fought the release until he hit the ground in a turn, still being pulled by the van. -- Brian Homepage
