  1. So what else does this contract say? Does it have a escape clause where if the US Government needs the airplane for training, they can void the contract? Does every DZ sign the contract with full knowledge of this clause? There is one reason there are so many CASA's running in the US right now and it isn't because a couple fun jumpers.
  2. Wow, a company that goes by the book on weight/ balance/ runway/ conditions? ....What a bunch of Jerks!
  3. Tom is doing just fine on his own. Two comments though: 1. You can't argue with stupid....especially if stupid has an agenda. 2. Most skydivers can't make an arguement/ counterpoint purely based on facts. We let too much emotion show through. Having 100 Tandem I's and 20 I/E's on the thread would just pollute what is actually needed... Tom has done an excellent job answering professionally and with facts.
  4. I was much more ready and prepared after assisting in my 15th course than I was on my 5th. Maybe we should put a minimum of 15 course assists prior to getting an I/E rating. People would be much more prepared and capable of properly teaching new Instructors.
  5. Was that cause your left hand was on the main risers?
  6. If you ever get a chance to ride in his seaplane...do it! You will never forget that ride.
  7. Nice of you to disclose how you do business...good luck selling something above 10%....
  8. If he bought a 107 Velo, tell him to keep it..... ...It is one of a kind!
  9. Sorry bro, the skyhook did activate and deployed the reserve. Look at the direction of the reserve pilot chute and how the reserve came out immediately in the direction of the main. If there wasn't a skyhook there would have been a longer delay on the reserve, who knows where the reserve pilot chute would have been by the time the cutaway handle was pulled, nor the body position of the tandems by the time it had enough drag to pull the bag. The skyhook did come into play.
  10. Yep, and it looks like a Skyhook tookover. Why the out of sequence emergency proceedure?
  11. All the Spring Break Women here in Daytona has given me Spring Fever!
  12. It is getting discussed riiiiight now.
  13. If you weren't spending all your time with the "Hollywood" crowd,.......maybe you would have better customer service. Nice exposure though!
  14. Funny coming from a guy who uses the word "I" thirty times in one paragraph in the "about me" section on myspace.
  15. That is why if you choose to jump an AAD, you need to have an ample amount of "cushion" between your main opening and the AAD activation altitude. If you bust your hard deck on your min. main container opening, you go straight to the reserve. We can sit and blame devices all day. With this mentality I say we blame the Cypres cause if it didn't fire none of this would have happened..... (regarding the UPT link above) He allowed himself get below the min container opening. Then broke emergency proceedures and still deployed his main. At that point, you better be very familiar with your gear to handle the situation. I am sorry to see it happen but the core issue needs to be addressed. Altitude awareness and EP's of the jumper.
  16. I thought you were going to ask, "Is DZ.Com PM's the primary way you do business?"
  17. Negative ghost rider......You need to adjust your sentence to, "You as a former BOD......"
  18. There are US Military units jumping static line drogues (not S/L PC's) now. While they got some flak at first, it is now starting to be accepted since it is difficult for soldiers to maintain currency since jumping is about 2% of their "job". There are other applications to S/L or Instructor assisted drogue deployment
  19. ....it is a good reference town for when later in life you say... "I used to live in that hell hole" Going to Wooster for CraterNate's B-Day?
  20. Amazing that you don't pick up the phone and call them with your concerns. You PM them on a internet forum and then bitch again that they don't answer your post within one day? It is a good thing that you are not a "low time jumper" and you got through your toggle hang-up. I am also happy to hear you saved three other people from this potential problem with customer service. Since this thread is about a new modification to protect people who cannot stay altitude aware, (not whining about other stuff) I would be happy to pay for your modification. 1 386 736 7589 is UPT's number. Try that then *PM* me the cost to have this done by your rigger and I will send you a check. ...It may take me more than one day to respond though cause I don't live on this website.
  21. I have been greatly disappointed by what some "Instructors" have shared with me recently. Sad that some do not understand what it means to be a professional.....and that when you are paid to do something, it is your job to do it. But we are all skydivers right? BSBD
  22. They are closed tomorrow, so don't expect anything until at least Tuesday.
  23. Yeah, why would you want twice the revenue or cut down the costs?
