What did your exit altitude show on the Pro Track? I think they're limited to 20,000ft....so they act pretty unpredictably above that. I'm up for some high altitude flocking dives. My S3 FINALLY arrived in Deland....I get to pick it up on Wed(out of town until Tues night)! Mike

When landing in the main landing area, are there any rules against carving swoops? Either starting the swoop or ending it into the wind....but at some point being 90 or so off the windline. Mike -
I think on the last day of the convention we should see how many people can ride that thing out of the back of a CASA.. Mike

I had a Hornet for a while, and it's actually now owned by another dz.commer.. I have jumped 5 or 6 different Hornets, at wingloadings from 1.1:1 to 1.8:1. IMO, they fly damn near exactly the same as the Sabre2, and better than the Safire. Openings on all the ones that I jumped were great, and pack volume is definitely smaller on the Hornet as opposed to a similar sized Sabre2 or Safire. Check out these threads.. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=42912;search_string=Hornet%20Sabre2;#42912 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=49520;search_string=Hornet%20Sabre2;#49520 I'm sure there are others, but those were the ones I found quickly when I searched. You may want to check with SkyKat to see if they have any Hornets. They, along with Rigs&Things, were big dealers for the PISA line of mains. Mike

Definitely make this post a sticky so it's the first thing people see in this forum. Great info here. Mike

You know, I think one of them actually was crosswind. Not sure about the other. Good point. I overlooked the basics. One of the DZ's in question(the one we were at over the weekend) runs jumprun one of two directions - right along the main runway. They do not fly into the wind - just whichever direction is closer to into the wind than the other. Jumprun is always either due North or due South - therefore, jumprun is almost always crosswind based on the typical prevailing winds aloft in that part of FL. Mike

Check out Freak'n Suits for the freefly suit. The same people make RW/camera suits under a different name, also. Freak'n Suits made the camo suits for these guys.. http://www.dropzone.com/features/NewSchoolFlightCampsBlen.shtml Mike

You could've actually driven right up to the main runway damn near. Once you're on base, there are quite a few places you can get to without passing into any restricted areas. You can't get anywhere near "North Base"(the "super secret" project area), but just about anywhere else on the base is accessible. I guess I took all that stuff for granted since I grew up there, and got to see it all(and much more that you won't see anymore) on a daily basis. Mike

And pictures....lots and lots of pictures...lucky for him he doesn't host videos.. Mike -
What type of pilot chute do you have? Kill line collapsible? Bungee collapsible? Standard? A bungee collapsible WILL do this on a hop & pop due to insufficient airspeed to overcome the bungee trying to keep it collapsed. Mike

Yep...up until, I think, about a year ago. It suprised me the first time I headed in there after the name change....brought it up on the flight computer, and it listed it as SoCal Logistics...thought I had put in the wrong identifier, but then I looked at the runway info, realized it was indeed the correct one. Mike

As already stated, Mirage does it to an extent...a couple sizes, anyways. I have an M3X with a PD160R and has had everything from a Spectre/Sabre2 150 to a VX79 in the main tray. Mike

The porter is really cool when they have one with the "bomb bay doors" on it.....you can sit on 'em, and have the pilot drop you when the spot is good. You just sit there....next thing you know, you're out.. Mike

Are you talking about the BIG airport out in Victorville? If so, no - it's not Edwards.....Edwards has been located in the same place for many many decades. Victorville is now known as Southern California Logistics Airport. http://www.airnav.com/airport/KVCV That the place you're thinking of? Mike

[ It will be by the time its needed. They're working on it. ltdiver Any idea how big they're making the runway? They'll have to widen it and, at the very least, pave the dirt portion to make it all paved and able to handle the weight. 5100' is long enough for a DC9 that will be flying pretty light most of the time(light on fuel, no interior)....but 50' wide is a bit narrow for a DC9. I think they need 75' minimum, maybe more....don't have an AFM in front of me. Mike

Sebastian in trouble???? Sebastian Sun Article
Aviatrr replied to Dolemite's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Cool. I live up in Orlando, and jump at Sebastian quite a bit. There and Lake Wales. I'm off work that week, so I may actually be down there that day. Is this a vacation that will allow you to make a couple of jumps, or a skydiving vacation? Mike -
When you gonna be there? If I'm off work, I'll head over.. Mike

When in December are you gonna be at Sebastian? Mike -
Hmmm....that is an average of about 50mph....what most people are getting on Skyflier3's...you must be tall and very light. You need to get an S3 at some point....if you're getting 50's in a Classic....you'll NEVER come down in an S3! Mike

Well...it didn't work for me last time....but it wasn't at a sporting event, either....I'm gonna try that next time! Mike

I'm wondering how many people will manifest for that load.....and then be drunk within two hours after sunset.....or wish they hadn't manifested, so they could be drunk! Mike -
John, you don't know a damn thing. You should know that by now. 1300 jumps......now if you had 250 jumps and a Coach course, you would be a VERY skilled jumper.....instead, you're just some guy with 1300 jumps. I guess I'm in the same boat as you, though....sorry, pitiful us. We can't help newbies one little bit. Mike

Hey man....it was good jumpin with ya last weekend.... How'd the trip home go with the rig? Any problems? Mike

[replyAnd not unless the Holiday boogie is the Second week of Jan at Zhills... When are you gonna be at ZHills exactly? I'll be leaving Eloy on the 4th....probably go to LA for a couple days...then home...if you're not gonna be at Eloy, maybe we can flock at ZHills.. Mike
