Oh! One more thing that I've learned from Mike Ortiz when I attended his freefly camp. Nothing to do with choosing a canopy, but it still applies anyway: Safety, Progression, and Fun - You won't progress if you're not safe - You won't have fun if you're not safe - You'll progress and have fun if you're safe In a nutshell, it's not fun anymore when you hurt yourself, and you can't progress when you're hurt.

So I got my A license, the senior jumpers at my DZ have been diligently working with me to downsize. So I bought my own gear after jump 80++. Thought I'd be ok jumping my own Diablo 170 since I've been jumping a Silhouette 170. Same wingloading right? What do you know. 6th ride on my gear, I over reacted on final. Sprained my ankle real good. And that was over 40 jumps or 3 months ago and it's still pretty tender. Lessons learned: Don't hurry to downsize You can't hurry experience Listen because these are the people who care about you

I'm deleting my 2 posts because I don't want to get sued by some stupid jackass who would not take personal responsiblity and thoroughly think through the consequences of their actions by blindly following the suggestions of someone who is not qualified in the field of pyro, and has a history of setting fires and electrical shorts when he was a kid.

A chemist friend tells me that if you mixed iodine crystals with aluminium fillings, and add water, you'll get massive vibrant purple smoke. But it burns fast and really hot so I can't imagine a homebrew being safe. I came across making smoke signals using diesel once. It supposedly doesn't give off much heat. I'm not sure what the ingredients are. Anybody heard of this? Take a look at boating stores. They'll carry them smoke canisters.

Not the kind in your dirty heads you perverts! I'm talking about the kind you use on your cutaway handles. So I see that WD-40 is a good one for cleaning once a month. Silicone kinds work too. But what about the graphite kind? I saw one at Home Depot in locks dept. and I had to pick one up. Just couldn't resist.
