  1. Read it. Interesting book, good stories; but not something to be read as literal truth. Good at providing some lessons, preposterously bad as a source for practical information. For me, the Bibles main purpose is for individual edificaiton, growth, and providing an escape from sinful mediocrity. My life is a validation of that. Beyond that, its meaning becomes shrouded in controversy. ......
  2. Conisder what happens when I change one word in your sttament: It is the Wisdom and Reality of Thor . Who is the creative and sustaining force of the universe. It is antithetical to the wisdom and reality we create when Thor is removed from our lives. I think we would agree that this is not a very serious statement. As there is no more evidence for god as there is for Thor then your statment hsould not be seen any differently. You can change the name of God to anything you like, God is still God. For me it is much more logical to pin the singularity that started this whole experience on an existing God than the god of chance occurrence. Plus the existing God has provided me, personally, with profound psychological coping skills that has made my life much richer than what is was before I knew Him. ............
  3. what is spiritual truth ? It is the Wisdom and Reality of God. Who is the creative and sustaining force of the universe. It is antithetical to the wisdom and reality we create when God is removed from our lives. Says who? Why, God of course. He wrote a Book, you ought to read it sometime without presupposing what it might say. .......
  4. IMHO without a soul we are just organic machinery Kinda tough pill to swallow, ain't it? Fortunately, we humans have such sophisticated brains, that we can deceive ourselves into believing that we have a separate, immortal existence, so that we don't have to cope with death. Next, we make up an invisible guy in the sky, so that we can try to understand why we feel weird emotions, and to justify our existence. Ultimately, we superimpose our delusional ideals on everyone else, so that we don't have to feel bad when we kill them. But mother nature has us beat - we're still able to reproduce faster than we can kill each other*** Good Grief. What a depressive philosophy, especially when you have no proof to back up your conclusions other that your own preconceived agenda and personal bias. ....................

  6. If the awareness of spiritual truth was ever removed from our consciousness, my bet would be that science and technology would be used to enhance the hedonistic indulgences of the strong at the expense of the weak. Much like is already happening. I am doubtful that science could ever turn us into impassive logical automatons.
  7. We're just a bunch of chemical and electrical impulses. When we die, we're just dead, period. There is no soul left over to go to heaven or hell OMG i agree with JR on something.. "Electric Meat" thats you and me, get used to it *** Pretty silly statement. It doesn't take much of an introspective look to see that we are a lot more than the sum of our parts. ...........
  8. My two favorites among many are, John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son , that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Matt 4:4 & Deuteronomy 8:3 Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. ...
  9. --First a person would have to believe in God. Then the person would have to believe that God has actually communicated his intentions to somebody else who then properly wrote that down and all subsequent translations have also been correct. Then the person would also have to assume that certain passages written applied to a topic not actually covered by the original text*** It is really not all that hard. But you give support to the verse that says " The way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it." --Seems a bit presumptuous to claim a person knows what "God's Reality" is.*** The choice is simple, either you spend the time to discern "God's Reality", or you replace it with your own. ...
  10. Of course. Look how many people have been killed in the name of God. Less death? Less religious war? Fewer witches burned at the stake? Fewer blacks hanged? Fewer Islamic terrorists? Yes, those indeed are some perks with replacing an extremist religious morality with a more sane one. You are correct. Self-righteousness is the great equalizer. Self-righteous atheist = Self-righteous religious. They both replace God's Reality with their own, with evil consequence. ...
  11. If you believe that, then you must also logically believe that using an IUD is murder - since it causes a fertilized egg, one that could grow into a child, to die. I suspect that you don't really think that life begins at conception, that there's a gray area between conception and implantation. Which is fine; I think most would agree with you. So what does a "common practice" have to do with whether or not human life is being destroyed. As a species we have a long history of destroying human life that is deemed inconvenient or undesirable, and then justifying it with some fabricated morality system. I guess that is one of the perks of replacing God's Reality with our own. .....
  12. Enough of this grey area stuff, what do YOU believe is the "Magical Moment" when life starts? edited to add that I voted conception.Quote In my observation, most people define life starting at the stage when they can no longer justify or control the guilt they experience after killing it. ...
  13. So would your life be less complicated, and more fulfilling, if you had kissed but one woman in your entire life? Yes, my life is very uncomplicated, liberated and joyous. Thanks for asking. And yes, the first woman I kissed was the one I married. It was easy to see at an early age that hedonistic sex was not the answer, so I focused on what was. ...
  14. To much emphasis is put on physical/sexual gratification. If we would put as much emphasis on Spiritual development, life would be a lot less complicated.
  15. And what, exactly, is christian wisdom? Knowledge gained from studying the Bible, combined with faith so that it becomes part of your constructed reality, resulting in the production of good works. Wisdom is knowledge in action.
  16. --So, I'm guessing that like so many of us, you have no problem believing in God, nor any problem in adhering to Christ's teachings, BUT major problems with organised religions and their attendant hypocricies. Yes, well put.
  17. ----Then may I ask how you define your good Christian values? Christian wisdom produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. The Truth of any value is proven by the actions it inspires. ______________________________________ ----Are you a member or follower of a particular church or branch of Christianity? No _____________________________________ ----If so, does your Church define your values? or are you a Vaguely-Christian who tries to interpret his teachings personally and deliberately without guidance? I don't limit my learning. I am open to Spiritual Truth no matter what the source. _______________________________________ ---Perhaps with hindsight Kallend may have stated "Good Catholic Values", but it is apparent that Un-Christian behaviour is certainly not confined to the Catholic Church. Agreed, hindsight and some self-examination is definetly in order. ....
  18. Quoteap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iE4cdTy9SqWqAZZ1OI8FUDV08EuAD9411JG04 Good Christian values*** It is obvious from your post that you have no concept of what Good Christian values are. Instead of attacking something you don't understand, why don't you spend some effort to discover what is it that bothers you. Personally, I am very bothered by criminal behavior. ...
  19. When it comes to acute fear and terror situations, I have not observed much difference in how animals or people react. I think a lot of people minimize the suffering of animals to avoid the emotional consequences of their actions.
  20. Quotehttp://news.aol.com/article/judge-throws-out-suit-against-god/212947 This guy is cool*** Maybe he can try and sue Mother Nature next. After reading the article and some of the posts, she certainly was not fair in distributing intelligence. ...

    Cat Question

You might try a pheromone feline repellent. There is one called Fel-Away. You can spray it around your plants. Also mix lettuce or other greens in with her cat food. Good Luck! ...
  22. They shouldn't cause that much discomfort. I would leave off the Leptospirosis part of the vaccine unless your dog drinks from puddles and just get the Distemper/parvo shot every 2nd or 3rd year. You can also get a diphenhydramine injection which may lesson the reaction. Rabies rarely causes a reaction and should be given every year or 3 years depending on the vaccine type. And of course there are plenty of pain medications to alleviate any discomfort
  23. From your history I would suspect storm phobia or that you maybe stepped in some offensive material and Roxton was just trying to rectify the infraction. A urinalysis would rule out any renal problems. Neutering would decrease most inappropriate marking behaviors.
  24. Religion, at it's roots and in it's beginnings (approx 8000 BC) was a combination of reverence for existing wisdom and a search for answers to unexplainable phenomena (like fire, eclipses, rainbows, floods, droughts, etc.). It is of course useless for those purposes nowadays; but old habits die hard*** Spiritual communion with God is the most valuable thing I possess. I would give up everything else before I gave that up. I would not give you anything for religion. _______________________________________
  25. ***QuoteQuoteThis isn't a Christian organization. It's a cult, apparently led by a very disturbed individual ] Serious question, where do you draw the line? I personally draw it anytime the person in charge is using it to his advantage and control rather than actually helping people. However, my definition would include a HUGE number of "televangelists" and "tent meetings" in that definition. Anytime some "preacher" is taking some old lady's last dime "in the name of God" or requires you to give a certain amount to the church or is constantly trying to sell you their merchandise or "services" (like E-meter readings), I find that reprehensible. So, I'm curious, where DO most people draw the line between "church" and "cult*** From your description, the same place you do. _________________________________________
