  1. I am 6'6" tall and weigh about 190, so we are of similar build. I had no success finding a used container when I bought my first one, but I was able to find ones that might have fit you, so you might have better luck than I did. I bought a custom Wings before the EXT designation existed, and it fits me comfortably without having to do any yoga to get to the hacky. I have no idea if the pre-EXT I have is the same size as a new EXT would be, but if the EXT is even longer it will be even better. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  2. >>Ask Diverdriver about this. He (and others pilots at SDC) has flown curved jumpruns for some time now.
  3. Mine turns to the right. Maybe we should each trade half our reserve for the other's, so we get one that flies straight. I am trying to think of the ad I will run when I sell it - "Tempo reserve. 1 ride. Opens great. Perfect for right-hand pattern dropzones." Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  4. John, how are you less slutty than I am? That makes no sense. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  5. 71% slutty. I am ashamed. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  6. And a discussion of opinions on what the definitions should be is exactly the point - agreeing on a vocabulary promotes productive discussion of the concept. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  7. This question on terminology was inspired by another thread. My real question is whether all three of these terms have relevance to skydiving. I am not a pilot, so my understanding of the three terms as they relate to aircraft may be incorrect. In fact, I am positive that they are at least incomplete. But here go my initial thoughts on defining the terms, followed by my take on their relevance to skydiving. Spin - a state in which at least one wing of the aircraft is stalled where the aircraft is rotating about its center of gravity on its yaw axis. Flat spin - a spin in which the aircraft's artificial horizon remains level. i.e. it is my understanding that there is really nothing special about a "flat spin" except that the aircraft has neither positive nor negative pitch and neither left nor right roll. Spiral dive - a maneuver in which the aircraft is performing a balanced turn (i.e. not slipping) at its maximum turning rate while losing altitude at a rate sufficient to maintain an airspeed sufficient for maneuvering. A maximum performance toggle turn would result in a spiral dive, in my estimation. I have not really encountered situations that I can think of right now where the other two terms are relevant to canopy flight. Feel free to correct the above terms and to expand on this idea. I think that establishing a common vocabulary will assist in discussion of how parachutes behave. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  9. Crashing at WTS in the packing area is possible and can be done comfortably, but on boogie weekends there are drunks staggering around all night. Much more peace and quiet in a tent if you have one. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  21. I had all but forgotten about our Red Rover code tribulations, when today at my office I received the Lego "Mission to Mars" set. It is pretty cool. I'll probably give it to my girlfriend's nephew. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  22. I agree that the Wings loops are good, but I would like them to be little smaller so that you are pulling on a higher point on the riser. I feel like the loop material is too long. Makes you use more toggle stroke to pull them and also makes it so that the effective attachment point is lower. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  24. I guess the most memorable part of it for me is a little bittersweet - having to say goodbye at the end. Lots of more pleasant memorable moments for me: 1. An 8-way out of the CASA that went GREAT. It felt like we were an 8-way team at the Nationals. I've been on very few jumps in my skydiving career that went that well. 2. Landing WAY off with Judy and having a guy in a pickup truck stop to ask if we were OK then drive away as we started to walk up to get in. Oh, and we were so far off that the people who actually picked us up stopped and said, "Do you guys need a ride back to Rantoul?" 3. First 23K foot skydive. 4. First raft dive. 5. First helo jump - exit altitude near my normal decision altitude. 6. First biplane jump. 7. First cornfield landing. That sh!t is tall. 8. First PAC 750XL jump. This was a really nice plane, and on the way up Mullins absolutely smoked by it and gave us a little wing waggle. 9. Tons of people wearing I LOVE MULLINS T-shirts. 10. The guy who came sliding right behind me downwind into the fence at the edge of the main landing area while I was walking up to the parking lot from the aircraft tents. He wasn't hurt, but he was visibly shaken. He said, "That guy cut me off," and pointed to a dude with about a 250 square foot canopy who was just landing. I said, "Who, the guy landing into the wind?" Swooper Sam did not appreciate that comment too much... 11. Round of applause from a group of spectators while landing near the Alouette loading area. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
