I hope that this post isn't seen as comercial in any way. I just found what I think is a good deal on really really cheap gift certificates. If the deal ends up being too good to be true then I bought them too so I am in the same boat. This offer was in an email from my works online perks program. It is for Restaurant.com They sell 25.00 gift cards for ten bucks on that site, but if you use coupon code: BELLS it will take 70% off of the 10.00 price. I purchased 10 gift cards for 30 bucks. Most places have a minimum purchase, and some black outs like fridays and saturdays, but if all the places honor these it will make eating out as a treat once a week way more affordable.

The only time I have had my rig noticed was by a guy with a flight instruction school. I tuck the leg straps up behind me and no one is the wiser. They are too busy being herded around like cattle... Moooooooooooooooooo! That being said I am looking for a good bag to keep it in that will work well as a carry-on. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I have my travel all booked. I get there Xmas night and don't head back to reality until the 5th of Jan. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Bioterrorism, smallpox vaccines, & another WMD Commission report

I was unaware of that, so does one just go down to the doctors office and request one? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
It has been that way for the past 8 years on message boards across the world, why would you expect that to change? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I know 'harder' is a relative term, but it seems wrong when used to refer to any Pilot. 'Faster' maybe, or 'in less height' but surely not 'harder' Smaller pilots can definetly open harder than the larger ones, I have had the openings to prove it. But they don't do it all the time, and they fly so sweet. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Florida Accommodations: Deland and Zhills ?
DougH replied to DougH's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Thanks for the information and private messages every one! Steve, I would be all over a few wingsuit jumps but I only brought my rig with my divey spinny canopy. I have to get my new to me tri in a spare dbag so I can bring that on trips and get to more jumps that need a more appropriate canopy! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Do we really need to rehash this every two weeks? I don't need music, the voices in my head are already muttering about the folks that keep reposting this over and over and over and over. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Florida Accommodations: Deland and Zhills ?
DougH replied to DougH's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I am hoping some regulars to these drop zones could suggest some accomodations in their general areas. I have allways camped out before but I am here on business and I only have a small rental car and my stuff. Lately it has been a little colder than I would like to camp in, and a hotel room would be nice to lock up all my extra crap. I found an old post from 05 that mentioned that the Holiday Inn near Deland on route 92 offered a discounted jumper rate for walk ins, does any one know if this still stands? Any recommendations would be great! Thanks for all the help! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Which would you want? Viso or Altimaster 3
DougH replied to girthrockwel's topic in Gear and Rigging
I agree! An anolog dial is nice for your earlier jumps. I think it is easy to look at the face and visualize how much altitude you have left. I had an L&B Altitrack as my first altimeter. Simulated analog face, and enough gadgets on my back to satisfy the gear freak in me. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

This isn't a presidential problem, this is a shitty executive problem. They should fire every one of those ceos! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
You know us kids too well. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Yup you got it figured out already, poor canopy flight is reserved for us fun jumpers with tiny little pocket rockets. If you think my post was a troll that is too bad, I hope you continue to enjoy your long comfy canopy rides! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

You aren't casting the blame on the packer, and at the same time you are saying that you have had almost 300 jumps on the same type of canopy with good openings? I do think it is a pretty interesting theory though that you are presenting, snatch force from the pilot chute resulting in uneven releasing of the riser covers? Am I reading your post right? How do you know it wasn't the packer? It isn't impossible to pack a real whacker, the best of us have done it. I have had a canopy (PISA Hornet) that was a hard opener and it was consistent. It opened hard almost every jump. If your pilot has a problem I would expect it to open hard on multiple jumps as well. Chances are it was bad luck or the pack job, unless it starts doing it to you with frequency. You are throwing a bed sheet into a hurricane after all. =P "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Please don't fly like an idiot in some quest to get down quicker. Talk to your instructors, or the rigger that maintains the gear about looking at the leg strap padding it may be shot. They might have a suggestion for padding your legs in a safe way. But you should be focusing on learning things under canopy, not doing needless spiraling that isn't going to teach you anything about canopy flight, and might be the first link in the accident chain. Yes I agree, but I thought there was a specific exclusion on demo coverage by the uspa insurance. Right or wrong? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
Demo's aren't covered by our insurance? If this got the green light I would hope the same policy would apply to these waivered stunt jumps. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
All stunt pilots are pilots, but not all pilots are stunt pilots. All demo jumpers are skydivers, but not all skydivers are demo jumpers. Why don't we get USPA out of the demo business. The sport will still get a black eye when some one craters into a crowd with nothing out, but at least the USPA won't be legally on the hook. I don't think it is a good idea, but if they want to do a stunt at a stunt show that is their deal not mine. I just don't want my organization involved in any way that makes them liable. Your welcome. I am doing a little of both, lol. Prep for your time in the tunnel like you would an AFF jump, or an exam. You and your coach should have a plan of attack, and a set of drills to work on so you get the most of those $$$ minutes. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
You already had people who tried to tell you why it isn't a great idea, but heck it isn't a terrible idea either, so why should we suggest otherwise. Go buy new, you will keep the gear manf. in business, and I have friends who work for them.

I think it would help a lot. The tunnel has a lot of advatages when it comes to correcting body position. First you have the ability to have a tunnel instructor standing on the net right next to you. You have two minutes of working time where you can recieve confirmation and correction of your body position through hand signals, and manual correction since they can reach right down and move limbs around. Additionally you have the wall that provides a frame of refrence. It is really hard to nail something when you do it for only 50 seconds or so ever few weeks. I think the tunnel time would help a lot, and so would jumping more frequently. I know it is expensive, trust me I paid for my whole student progression as a broke ass college student. But it costs way more in the long run to do it in short bursts, as you know repeats cost a good deal. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
I believe they are still in the middle of moving their operations. I would resend your email or recall them, your request probably got lost in all the hustle. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Some still do: ie: every Aerodyne canopy except for their tandem A2 and their Smart Reserve. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
