  1. look up Shane Sandler, Ke Dime, John Bast. All very current WS'rs at Eloy, really good guys.
  2. Both of the systems you mention require Sony Vegas. Both of them *should* support PAL because Vegas doesn't care. The original system (Production Assistant) offers PAL or NTSC, is tech-supported 24/7 by Sony, was developed for televisionl broadcast by skydivers. They're all three essentially the same things, so figure what you want to spend and what sort of tech support options you want, you'll be happy with any of the three as far as how they work.
  3. yes, with a regular laptop, you can see 3D to edit (and also collapse 3D to 2D) on a screen. You can edit in 2D and then reset to 3D (assuming a 3D source) or you can edit in 3D with glasses on (although I wouldn't, it'll give you a serious headache after a while).
  4. 3D will work with or without a 3D card, same as you can watch 3D on Youtube now. Either way, you'll need either an active 3D display and vid card with active 3D glasses, red/cyan, etc passive glasses.
  5. Speed of render, some keyshortcuts, stabilization, more tracks, better management, some new transitions, audio engine, 3D, some new FX, CUDA, I'm sure there is more...I'm drawing a blank past those. AVC management and much faster render time are the biggies.
  6. Not necessarily. I just don't have Vegas Movie Studio 9 on this computer to test the mp4 decode. Vegas Movie 11 and Vegas Pro 11 both have a newer, better AVC/AVCHD decoder that works really well with AMD and Intel chipsets.
  7. upgrading QT *may* repair the issue. VMS 9 should support you properly. I don't have 9 on this machine to test for you, but IIRC, it was fine. Vegas Pro 9 is fine (I do have that)
  8. Which version of Vegas? DVD Architect installed or not? Legal or otherwise copy?
  9. I disagree. Sometimes, it's a matter of not knowing the difference, and not having enough access to information to know what they're doing incorrectly. However, with YouTube etc, everyone should have a pretty good idea. That said, just today I was teaching someone whose DZO insists on: -10-12 minute videos -Rewinding to exit (a repeat is great, especially in slow motion, IMO) -Long canopy flight And they are using NLE software to do this. Apparently there are some DZO's that are still stuck in the "old world" rut.
  10. perhaps try HTML 5 instead? Folks are viewing, based on the stats.
  11. Aren't you the guy who forgot to flare and broke in half? That would explain why your canopies land themselves! Apparently you've (or Nick) confused me with someone else? Nah, I'm pretty sure it was you. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3587898;page=3;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; Factually, you’re almost right, Professor. It wasn’t a no-flare; it was an inadvertently dropped toggle that nearly cost me my life. Accidentally releasing a toggle is just about as dumb as not flaring, however. Saw it nearly kill someone just a few weeks ago. He'll never walk again, I was fortunate. I screwed up and have paid/paying the price, I still wear the metal, and am painfully aware of my mistake every day. I'd prefer to take advice from someone who has been there and understands the pain of an error rather than someone who hasn't had the hard motivation to understand the need to improve, grow, and pass on the info. Kinda like taking alcohol counseling from someone who has never touched a drop... And, I keep on doing my best to enjoy skydiving and to share that joy with others. If it brings you two joy to piss on me for a 3 year old, 2500 jumps-ago error, by all means, continue. I've never tried to hide my error, and in fact often show newer jumpers photos of my incident so that they might understand the importance of landing skills. Bill, mvidovic isn't a dude, it's a person from EG Suits. I've never met her AFAIK.
  12. It plays fine on even the slow computers here (including my Droid). Anyone else having problems?

  14. Very good. just over 600 jumps on one, really like it. Keep the wingloading at 1.3 or less for happiest openings. It practically lands itself. Super easy to pack.
  15. Rich's EMS training program actual link: http://vimeo.com/36629075 1:15:00 in length
  16. can you explain this more? I dont quite understand maybe I'm missing something. What if you want to video tandems?? Should you get good at doing tandems? Learning to fly your body, learning to anticipate movement (happens with tandems and AFF students both), learning to fly no-contact relative work, being able to know when things are good and sense when things are about to not be so good, all takes time. Flying fourway is a great way to learn all of the above. When it comes time to film tandems, you'll likely have most all the skills you need to fly close in to a tandem while keeping the student, TI, and yourself in a safe place.
  17. if you're not afraid of the much higher price, contact Steffen at L&B, or contact an L&B dealer to obtain one. They're not easy to get. They are impressive, no doubt. Expect a lot of comments.
  18. Terrific presentation today, Grimmie! Between the firefighters and the Mercy Air presentations, lots of new information, and a lot of great tips! Thanks for putting it out there.
  19. Thanks for the kind words, they're appreciated.
  20. Happy to oblige. You went a whole 4 months without jumping a wing. Didja go with the design you put on FB? It was nice!
  21. Help me out...where did I demonstrate I don't know how a deployment system works? Yep, I busted myself up, and genuinely appreciate you constantly pointing it out whenever you get the chance. Sometimes the metal in my ass and spine lets me forget. Most guys would have been smart enough to quit.
  22. Ahh.....if you're expecting... What the fuck is a guy with your low experience, non-currency, and lack of understanding of skydiving gear doing in a high-performance wingsuit under a low-performance canopy? That enough smart-ass for you?
