GoPro Hero2 for tandem stills??? is this being done at DZs?
DSE replied to 5.samadhi's topic in Photography and Video
The GoPro captures perfect stills for web display. The GoPro blows for anything intended for print. It's oversaturated for paper, it's under resolved for paper (larger than 5x7). -
Add my vote for the Curv. Just got one, exceptionally loving it. Have owned Jav, Mirage, Stunts, and other RI products. Currently own 6 rigs, the Curv is unquestionably the most sweetness I've ever thought of.

The "bonebucks" are a great way to go. I'm not sure if they still have their trade-in program...but on something like an FTP, it's very much worth it to check out. LOVE LOVE my FTP for most things non-coach related

Given that 4K cams are now available for "reasonable" prices (sub 5K$) and that there are already 4k projectors and displays available for "reasonable" prices, and Sharp/Panasonic/Sony already displaying 8K displays...it only makes sense that 2K/UDTV is already the 720p display of its generation. I could be wrong...but kinda doubt it.

Congratulations, Jhonny! Well done!

Chincups work just fine for tandem work. If you're planning on mounting a more weighty system, I sure wouldn't want a chincup (been there, done that) as opposed to a Wes Vapor or an FTP. Heavier or forward balance weight, you'll really want that solid chin. Otherwise, a cup is sufficient and easier to deal with, IMO

whats next ?? I suppose it depends on your gambling nature. Industry pundits say UDTV. My feeling is that UDTV will go like EDTV, and we're probably looking at 4K as the next standard.

in HD, there is no NTSC/PAL, just 50i/p and 60i/p However...if you're making standard definition DVDs...there is still NTSC/PAL. That being said, iMovie can convert 60i to 50i with no problem. The internet doesn't care whether it's 50i or 60i at all. DVDs are all but dead anyway, so might as well take the plunge. FWIW, HD is on its last legs as well, so might as well catch up.

A chin cup is different than a chin strap; chin cups can be terrific.

REally? And their video isn't shaky and all over the place?

I have some.\ http://vimeo.com/21812030

Did you receive it? I still have not seen an actual finished print copy, just an advance with a soft spine.

Lodi is not a place where you want to land off, both from the "outs" perspective or DZO's pleasure.

Jim Hickey, an older skydiver/wingsuiter/freeflyer at Skydive Elsinore, recently went wingwalking, and did it without a harness.

Believe me, he did. I visited Howard's place once, in search of some old films we'd talked about restoring. It was nearly floor/ceiling with skydiving. If his collection could merely be cataloged, the NSM would need nothing more. His writings, magazines, manuals, photos....I can see a few years of sorting, cataloging, etc happening there. Howard had a passionate affair with the history and progress of our sport. He was easily one of the older people to don a wingsuit for the first time, and he really enjoyed flying it. Most have figured out that his gruff attitude was his way of showing love and keeping a safe distance. He spoke that way to US Senator Jake Garn, too, at the Pioneers of Sport Parachuting gathering in SLC, Utah a few years ago. His contributions to the sport will never be known by most.

Uninstall Vegas Pro 10 before installing Pro 11??
DSE replied to freefalljason's topic in Photography and Video
the two apps are separate. Both can co-exist. Heck, I've got Vegas 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, &10 installed on the same machine as 11. -
There are surely some rites that wouldn't follow the rules of the Bible, sure. On the other hand, shamanism in various forms are practiced by far more people in the world than believers in the bible; what's your point? To specifically answer your question; No indigenous beliefs include baptizing nor eating dead people, wearing funny underwear, nor belief that they'll have their own planet with many wives if they're behaved on earth. Or that Jesus visited America after he died, secret handshakes, that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers of the same father, ghost whisperers, or that Jesus didn't make it to the top level of his own heaven, or that African Americans carry the curse of Cain (amongst just a few others) There are over 500 recognized nations; care to name any of them that have organized traditional religion, claim to be the "one and only true church" AND/OR running a candidate for President? Anne Frank, Simon Weisenthal, Adolf Hitler, and President Obama's mother are all baptized into the Mormon faith; that should make for some interesting conversation in heaven.

Well magic underwear is funnier than drinking the blood and eating the flesh of someone who lived 2000 years ago. Mormons have that covered, too. They do both magic underwear and the flesh-eating thing.

Raise your hand if you think upsizing is a good idea.
DSE replied to diablopilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I upsized from 135 to a 150 about a year ago. Now alternating between 150 and a 170, depending on what is available on my school rack. -
10$ says he never will. He can't afford to piss off that kind of media or Hispanic voting bloc.

New Sony CX series cams? What do you like? Why?
DSE replied to pope's topic in Photography and Video
Yes, but not by a whole lot. -
This. Customer service that (in my experience) is only matched by L&B and Rigging Innovations.

New Sony CX series cams? What do you like? Why?
DSE replied to pope's topic in Photography and Video
You won't, and therein lies the problem. There are people happy with GoPro's for tandems too, but the upshot is that some folks don't care much about the quality as long as it's not pixilated. I can quickly shoot a still with the 760; any one looking for an 8x10 print will immediately notice the gamma issues and distortion caused by low-grade lenses. If your bar is shooting for 8x10 while also simultaneously capturing good video, we're still a little way off. Not far, but still off. -
Opening the leg wing comes after figuring out the upper body position. Hips/arms/head-Fall rate and stability Legs-drive Clenching your butt (as Matt said) will help get you out of the LazeeBoy lounge. Keeping the vehicle straight and streamlined usually comes before adding power.

My training company owns 25 MBP's and around 50 VAIO's. it's always fun to hear this debate from people that have had experience with only one or the other. Both sides often talk out of their ass. Apple definitely has prettier hardware and their software is a bit more "dummy proof." "Be as creative as you can be (just be sure to do it the way we tell you to)."
