Much empathy, misskriss, it is indeed very hard sometimes to fight the fear that strikes, but have faith in yourself; you know how good it is as a tandem passenger, and so do I; I took 14 tandems before I had the courage to make my first solo jump- afraid of heights all my life to the freezing point, yet knowing up there was where I belonged- you can do it- if this is something you really want you can have it- no matter how powerful the fear seems....and if you think it's good as a tandem, Holy Simolean, wait until you've felt the air on your own- You only have to decide how much you want the sky-

FUNNY INCIDENTS IN FREEFALL.

We had a 4-way team mascot- a rubber blow-up doll; Mercedes the Wonder Doll-- she had hand-drawn nipples, a donated jump suit and goggles, on the ride to altitude, and with the help of a particularly sick unnamed individual that manipulated her arms and body with disturbing abandon, she competed in a best of the breast contest with an unnamed female jumper doing a rites-of-summer (naked) jump- The pilot's reaction to the double disrobings was almost as funny as Mercedes' unpredictability in freefall- she was just a bit under-inflated at exit altitude due to the effects of the contest and proceded to throw the jumpers for loops as she floated like hell and her arms and legs whipped around wildly....- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says... he is giving me a reputation I do not deserve! -
Congratulations, little brother!! Knew you'd have ne'trouble with yer requirements- Hopefully we'll all get together this upcoming weekend- John and I may camp out Fri. eve. as well-- looking for an excellent Saturday to jump- mid 70's, partly puffies to start off with; 'n we'll see where the wx goes from there... Absolutely so-- John is best friend and the love of my life- I also consider myself the luckiest person on the earth to have met him-- he, on the other hand, says that it is not luck, but that we were destined for each other (happy sigh) And the best of the best? Happy Birthday, mouth!! Next week'll be jest fine for that 400th- you'll have a blast even if you had to wait another week er so; you know how much fun you have-- BTW, in answer to the post question, I'm 46, almost 10 years in the sport, 215 jumps, not bad for someone with a shattered right leg- what can I say? No, little brother- I'd have to say it depends on who you know as to how you get into BASE; I know of a couple of jumpers who started BASE jumping before they ever made their first skydive out of a plane- remind me to introduce you to a BASE boy-wonder;he usually jumps with us- he did kinda like you on AFF, one level after another, but got his BASE instead... now those kind of folk are few and far between- and the minimums spoken of here are for skydivers who are thinking about making the switch- it's a very different kind of jumping- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says... he is giving me a reputation I do not deserve!

....even Hollywood can be instructional.... that movie's where I learned about how long NOT to give seperation for between exits, say when the dropzone Porter's bombay/trapdoor opens and spills out a tandem passenger sans instructor- the seconds tick by and reality fades....amid the laughter, boos and catcalls, sit thirty skydivers, taking up the first three rows at the theater opening of 'Drop Zone' ... some of the oldtimers sip their beers smuggled in under cover, and teach the newly graduated fledgling skydivers the difference between Hollywood skydiving and the reality type... Hmmmmm, if that's the stuff you want, I'd say the laptop-- you can always just download a free player for basic usage or get one of the fancier ones on sale....dunno about the flatscreen, I'm so used to the old type, they just look strange- 'n I'd have to vote against the bike, having received 63 stitches sewn in a smile pattern across my right thigh whilst attempting to self-teach riding a motorcycle....yep Brokeneagle. don't hate it, USE it--You've just opened yourself a fine door, stubborn yourself a job you WANT to do... sounds like you have a fine sense of the unjust, how's yer education? Ever think of becoming a lawyer, or someone who looks after others' rights-- a public defender-- don't recommend welfare worker, tho- or hell, just get into research like I do- I'm not even trapped in an office-I am a land title investigator and do research in different courthouses; get to travel around and see the beauty of the state, work for myself, cn' take time off as I need....and books NEVER yell at you.... Know what you did is right for you, and have faith that you'll find the right job for you now, as well... you did good, suz-

Jest be canny in yer selectiveness; read what you can stand, leave the rest be... that way, you won't feel the excess pressure and load the extra stress on yerself- I skip all over the posts reading what catches the eye, not worrying about the rest... you can choose to ignore trolls if you want....this is a place for saying what's on yer mind, 'n this is what's on their minds...
