  1. It looks more and more like you think you're the only person on this board who has an idea and knows what he is talking about. And this is no different from what my 12yo thinks. It would be really impressive if your 12yo had 18 years experience in something. It would be impressive if the conservatives here would quit name-dropping, job-dropping, etc and actually post reference rather than say, "I kknow more than you, so just shut up." I had a college proff I kept in contact with after graduation and he was lile that until I squared him. You can never rest on your laurels, you have to prove up your point. Just like with me and acft knowledge, I would never say, 'I have 25+ yrs experience, we'll just go with that.' I produce whatever info/data the issue requires and let that carry the point. We all have areas of expertise, I don't get impressed hearing a resume, I do get impressed with data or other reference that is objective and tangible.
  2. His father was so conernced with his son's fanatical religious views that he contacted US authorities. And he has a scary muslim name... According to a redneck white woman who was on the acft in question, she said it was an African American. Just when I thought we were getting away from idiocy.... He was Nigerian, ie. black. The PC term for black is African-American. I guess she should've known to use the proper term for his background, just African. What was your point, again? The fact that she described the bomber's color illustrates that was essential to her. AKA: It was teh blackies again, now let me clean that up. Esp since the flight departed from Amsterdam; closer to Africa than America. A good number of passengers, possibly more than 1/2, were other than American citizens.
  3. Don't be so sure about that. Cannabis intoxication does not impair driving ability like alcohol intoxication does. I've posted on the topic previously here and here with links to sources. Oh for Christ's sake, how many times have we all seen some stoner creeping along the interstate at 40 mph, leaning way forward with his nose against the windshield ? From personal experience I KNOW that pot gives you a kind of tunnel vision. Not literally visually, but more like a tunnel focus. In the old days of Mexican dirt weed, or even Columbian, it wasn't so bad. But with today's buds, you can kill somebody. ANY recreational drug use has to be responsible. As far as your argument goes, I know people who say the same thing about how well they drive when they're liquored up. We simply cannot allow any of you on the road. Besides, if you EVER want to see the ganja legalized, you're going to have to compromise as far as allowing for a DUI offense. That's just the way it is. Totally. Motor skills/reactions are impared probably by correcct action, certainly by reaction time if nothing else. We've all been that stoned idiot, I don't see how we can say it's anything but hendering.
  4. Is everyone who uses it, to any degree, someone you consider as all fucked up? Do you feel the same about alcohol? Is anyone who uses it, even in moderation, all fucked up? Agreed, someone stumbling around in a stupor is all fucked up. I move in circles of drinkers and smokers. Strictly anecdotal, but I see a lot more all-fucked-upness from alcohol than pot. You begin your post by stating "This is exactly where I'm at" then state a position quite contrary to the post you quoted. Who's all fucked up? Yes, that's exactly where I'm at; I think drugs, booze, pot, etc are fucked up and the people who use to any degree and undesireables to me. At the same time, it shouldn't be illegal to kill yourself, limit yourself or make yourself all fucked up, so prohibition is BS. It might be hard for some people to understand that reasoning, but I think drugs suck, but prohibition sucks too.
  5. Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron: The Crystals, 1963. Before my time....I was paraphrasing for effect. Kids! Ain't got no CULTURE. Sure I do, it's called Metalica, Seether, etc...
  6. NICE PA. YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO CALL PEOPLE CLUELESS.
  7. I see the back peddler is back in action. I would think the embarrassment (intentionally misspelled for people who can't make arguments otherwise) would be great enough that spell-nanny would take a break. Well, 44 cents to $10 cares about class, so you're wrong. I don't know, why not try posting the entire passage in context and I will answer? Spell/grammar-nanny, you're slipping. If you place a question mark at the end, a colon should follow the, "is." Whatever services are neccessary to provide basic mail delivery to all people regardless of class, unlike you and your exclusivity. BTW, the USPS only has exclusive rights to USPS mailboxes, not anything else, unless you consider the language of, "First Class" to be exclusive and it cannot be replaced. How does the gov impose those on private carriers? How could they other than taxes? Yea, nice reach. From a corporate-loving fascist nation, you think and fear corporate controls. Paranoid much? Which exclusive svs does the USPS have; and please no semantic BS about ownership of language? I've yet to see that law, but let's say you're right, how is that a problem since UPS charges like 20 times more? Make a real point. You're taking such a ridiculous leap that is not only uber-hypothetical it is sci-fi. Ron, we're a fascist nation in love with our corporations, we give corps more lattittude not less, so how is it even in the distant grasp of reality that this would happen? I don't mind hypotheticals, I just can't deal with impossibilities. You quoted something that I didn't write and now you want me to address it. These letters must either cost at least the greater of $3 or twice what First Class (or Priority) mail service would cost, or they must be delivered within strict time limits or otherwise lose value. If this is an excerpt from a source, be unlike yourself and post it properly.
  8. Instead of trying to impress us with your resume, show me where I'm wrong. Ridiculous. OK, so show me how the USPS has first class and UPS, FED EX, DHL or other shippers don't have a diff name for the same process. I don't care if you cleaned shitters on FED EX jets for 18 years, show me the substance.
  9. My guess is they wouldn't let him go take a whizz. Yea, I would get unruly too
  10. It's official, Stanley will be running from this one, too. He wrote me to tell me as much.
  11. Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron: The Crystals, 1963. Before my time....I was paraphrasing for effect.
  12. And then there's this: Like UPS, FedEx Corp. (FDX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), another packaging giant, also is hurt by the recession. FedEx announced in December 2008 a marginal rise in its second-quarter profit, and stated that it is experiencing the worst economic conditions in its 35-year operating history. While net income rose 3%, revenue edged up 1% from the year-ago period. Warning that it is seeing increasing weakness from the deepening global economic problems, FedEx announced additional cost-cutting measures, including a 20% reduction in the salary of the company's Chief Executive Officer and a base 5%-10% base salary reductions for U.S. FedEx employees. FedEx also decided not to advertise in the Super Bowl for the first time in 12 years. So yea, the USPS is doing poorly, like everyone else. I guess your answer is to raise postage to $5 a letter so we can b e more fascist American, right? Or keep offerring svs that reach to all, regardless of status. Real humans, those Republicans.
  13. OK, recent data, not 2007 as I posted. And look at 3rd Q 2009: 929M 3rd Q 2008: 1.63B So their profits are down. Furthermore, I posted 3rd Q 2007 losses. Nope, wonder if the stimilus helped. Or is your argument that charging 10-15 dollars per letter yields a profit? That's a good argument, just as with HC, if you can afford it, it's nice. If not, too fucking bad. So if a system is in place to charge 44 cents a letter, but they lose money, but it makes it affordable to all people, that is a bad thing according to you. I get ya. It's about money baby; FUCK PEOPLE. Innovation to = 10-15 dollars per letter. Yea, it's called gouging and exclusiveness. No, the gov will ensure all people can still mail a letter for 44 cents even tho elitist influence wants them to make it 10-15 dollars. See where I say it's not the government that's the pig here, it's the corporations? Now the gov sucks for not controlling the corps. As for profit/loss, looks like UPS stocks were down low earlier this year from your party's Great Recession. http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=UPS#chart1:symbol=ups;range=2y;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined AND>>>>>>>>>>>>> DHL is taking a shit, may merge with UPS if they haven't already - cutting jobs for sure. DHL is considerably cutting operations: http://247wallst.com/2008/11/10/ups-fedex-losin/ AND>>>>>>>>>>>> UPS lost: The company reported a net loss of $2.576 billion ... in the 4th Q of 2007, even tho the connies tell us the recession wasn't until mid-2008. http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/TOP%20STORY/2155255/ In the fourth quarter of 2007, the world's largest shipping carrier slipped to a loss as it recorded a $6.1 billion charge to shift 45,000 of its employees from one pension plan to another. The company reported a net loss of $2.576 billion ... On October 23, 2008, UPS reported nearly a 10% decline in third-quarter profit, despite a 7% increase in revenues, hurt by expenses that rose over 9%. So they lost in the 4th Q of 2007, just when the Great Republican Recession kicked off. That is what I stated, they were a company based upon profiting by charging $10+ per letter, now they had losses as did everyone else. So you can continue to advocate for elitist governemnt by having the same turn everything over to the greedy private sector and I'll continue to advocate for the people.
  14. Now a passenger causes a disruption at Detriot on an acft on Sunday.
  15. I just don't feel like beating a dead horse. Maybe some people will chime in later...It's Sunday you know. Run, run, DO run.... Huh? How can this be? Dubya fixed the Clinton/Gore recession. Buncha liberal lies....
  16. Wrong. USPS has consistently operated in the black in recent decades. Shhhhhh, what he's saying is fuck people, it's all about money. HC; don't care, is there a profit line or not? Mail delivery? Who goves a fuck; what are we, the pony fucking express? It's about money not people and the sooner you realize that the better off you will be. Remember: FUCK PEOPLE.
  17. yes...apparently it will end up that way. No one wants to talk about this brilliance: Huh? How can this be? Dubya fixed the Clinton/Gore recession. Buncha liberal lies.... Come on, the 1932 Great Republican Depression wasn't outdone by the 2007 Great Republican Recession.
  18. And the USPS is in ruin, drowning in debt, and virtually a monopoly, since specific services cannot compete in segments of the business. Thank you for reinforcing my argument. UPS didn't lose >2B in the 4th Q of 2007? That's just 1 piece of data. Virtually every business has gone into the red during this Great Republican Recession, so your point again was what? Oh, the fact that the Republican color is red; how fitting.
  19. They may as well just not sell plane tickets to men over 40 anymore. Same difference. Just install pilot relief tubes at every seat
  20. another meaningless post....you must agree that it's hillarious that someone said that Bush fixed the Clinton recession ....it's truely rich.
  21. Yup, it sure IS, isn't it? The graphic is meaningless as posted since it gives no indication of the methodology used to collect (or invent) the numbers and the source is illegible. No, it's legible, it's this RW rag: http://www.ncpa.org/ It's basically the Heritage Foundation, or teh Cato Institute Hannity favorites.
  22. Yup, it sure IS, isn't it? The graphic is meaningless as posted since it gives no indication of the methodology used to collect (or invent) the numbers and the source is illegible. Not to mention the source is EXTREMELY biased RW. This is classic Mike.
  23. That post proves it all up. You certify that the assertion by the other guy was brilliant and full of forsight.
  24. You have no idea what you are talking about. The market is oversold right now and will correct.... it's trending down again today and if you look at the charts or the technicals this does not look like it will hold at all. Investors like myself and my investor clients are scared to death because they see all of the indicators. As for the GDP.... that is a inflated number due to the stimulus that did nothing for long term growth just a quick bounce and a lot of it has to do with US companies managing their shit and cutting when they needed to do so which leads me to my next point... jobs. This is going to take a long while. a little FF (fun fact) for you..... the numbers do not even reflect those who picked up part time jobs out of necessitiy but still cannot find full time jobs so its actually worse. I am not blaming anyone for anything in this post but what I will say is that it is delusional to think that Obama has done much of anything..... I do know that the national debt is climbibg at a higher rate than ever before. So before you lay out claims please know what the hell you are talking about first. Oh and "projected" means squat You have no idea what you are talking about. Actually it is going as I said, months later. The market is oversold right now and will correct.... it's trending down again today and if you look at the charts or the technicals this does not look like it will hold at all. 2 months later and you're still wrong, the market has shown stability and constant growth. Investors like myself and my investor clients are scared to death because they see all of the indicators. I hope you use the term, "investors" very lightly. As for the GDP.... that is a inflated number due to the stimulus that did nothing for long term growth just a quick bounce and a lot of it has to do with US companies managing their shit and cutting when they needed to do so which leads me to my next point... jobs. Sure it's largely inflated by the stimulus, vs TAX CUTS MY FRIENDS being nonexistent to even artifical growth, AKA the Great Depression. I'll hold my reservations as for long-term growth.....your predictions seem a little (lot) off. a little FF (fun fact) for you..... the numbers do not even reflect those who picked up part time jobs out of necessitiy but still cannot find full time jobs so its actually worse. As with every unemp number set, they all have the same type margin for error and don't reflect the people who have dropped off, etc. You've brought in nothing new. I am not blaming anyone for anything in this post but what I will say is that it is delusional to think that Obama has done much of anything..... Yea, the stimulus hasn't helped at all I do know that the national debt is climbibg at a higher rate than ever before. With the Great Republican Recession neccessitating the 700B TARP mess and the stimulus, that is teh cause. Show me any spending of Obama's not aimed at that. So before you lay out claims please know what the hell you are talking about first. Nostradamus predicting the iminent fall of the market....not happening....now I don't know what I'm talking about? Nice one. Oh and "projected" means squat They projected 3%, laid down 3.5%, now revised it to 2.2%.....so how were they so far off at 3%? Projected estimates are usually pretty close. Care to retract any genius assertions?
