  1. My second jump after a 4 year lay-off was a very sobering experience.Basically, was behind the curve of my canopy after I threw out the pilot chute.Forgetting the simple things that used to be old hand only cost me the embarrassment of a Quick PLF when I stopped flying my canopy before I touched down!Of course it didn,t help that I was off the wind line!Hey,reminders of what not to do can keep us learning, thinking and humble!
  2. I purchased my first complete rig after 25 cheapo round jumps.Didn,t jump the PC until 20 second delays.Back in those days you had(were supposed to have a hundred jumps on same canopy first).Had a hundred jumps on PC before I bought my first square parachute(25 dollars a week)until $650 was payed off. Some 850 jumps on that square I bought a larger(200sq. ft.)canopy.Its about taking the time to learn the canopy!
  3. Sounds like you had a Great Fun day!Don,t ya just love skydiving!Hey,I just watched it rain while I practice packed my main after reserve repack.Yuk,looks like labor day washout here also.
  4. You be funny guy Huh?(lol)
  5. Humm,wonder why?No.1 Question,are the returns worth the money,time invested in a project?
  6. As opposed to flying without one?Spent more time flying airlines without gear just to avoid the hassles sometimes.
  7. Dream on sister(lol). An Idea is only profitable before you tell someone and the patent office has your request for patent 1st.
  8. Interesting thought. In light of recent corporate developments,at least more skydivers thinking about ethics can,t be all bad.For sure we could get lost in B.S. and loose sight of Dropzone not promoting saftey above return.Over the years we keep trying to change our image. The reckless find a way to not be dedicated to promoting safe skydiving all the time. Then of course if a board if formed some D.Z. owner will get pissed off because he/she could get a bad recommendation for not promoting safety over return.Bad blood against our fellow jumpers and operators is never good.Just thinking about ethics most of the time by everyone involved should be enough.Any thoughts?
  9. After 4 years of not jumping I,ve finally gotten my driver,s license,a new car and my reserve is being repacked this week!Man,I,ve missed not flying my main canopy around the sky!Rest assurd that I will fly safe, cautious and with my physical health in mind!See ya all around.
  10. The one I helped design, build and test "Jedei" 97 Swptwing No. 1.
  11. I had a long talk with a person in the know about this very subject years ago.Because I fly a high performance elliptical I chose not to have one (RSL) installed with my rig.I do believe they are an excellent tool for students.
  12. I really get sick of this debate.I have never experienced a problem with my toggle turns.(90 degrees only)I certainly don,t have any problems with people hook turning until the fatality reports come in.Just how many die by doing hooks vs toggles turns will never be known?I prefer toggle turn landings because it is easier for me to perform them.
  13. We built a test CRW canopy with airlocks. The guys who flew it loved it.Perhaps if we had seen or there had been a market for such a canopy we might have continued the research.
  14. As someone who supports Brian,s canopies I understand your point. This is a cost vs return thing.Sure the numbers would be a great study.Worth the cost? Most would say no.Actual empirical evidence proves Brian,s point.
  15. I,LL DO IT!!!!!!Sounds like fun.
  16. Only if they are sandwiched around me!!!!!
  17. Interesting. That last word thing is so true, unless your woman has a bad case of the blondes all of sudden.Yes,she is smart most of the time(LOL).
  18. No shit!Peter Rabbit. How did they know I used to be called "Rabbit"?
  19. lumpy bubble-sniffer.Humm, how about bumby burble-sniffer?

  21. It comes back to individual choice. Those who will be reckless will be reckless.I like my fast little rocket, but at the same time fly it like it could kill me if I stopped paying attention.I don,t see the need to hook turn to get my thrills out of my parachute.Over the years I,ve stayed alive by letting myself think more towards the caution side of flying a parachute and learning to see the potential for a bad situation getting worse.Just a few thoughts that maybe will get more canopy pilots thinking differently about how they fly their parachutes.
