Ok first to mention I don't agree or disagree on this topic. Yesterday on the plane one of my teammates and another team had a discussion about having a player coach for competition. Mainly Nationals. Heres the question: Is it fair for a team to hire a Pro class skydiver to jump with them? And especially in the non professional advanced class? Last year in Advanced category Team Nemisis was beaten by Optic nerve and Identity crisis. Both teams had members that had previously competed at the world level, and Optic Nerve actually had Solly Williams and Doug parks of Deland Majic fame. This year a lot of teams have picked up player coaches. A team in advanced isn't allowed to compete if more than one member has won a gold medal in advanced. So should a team be allowed to compete if the team has members that have medals in world cups/meets. Or national champions from another country? Or should there be a limit to how may members can be on a team that have previously competed in Open class. Feel free to add or subtract issues involved if I missed anything or you have questions/answers of your own. Ive never seen rules on how big a motorcycle you can drive or how steep a hill you can skate. Just because skydiving might become more mainstream shouldnt make us limit its exposure. It doesnt necessarily mean there is going to be rules made for us. And putting it on tv isnt forcing anything its allowing people to see what its all about. I dont know what happend, but if your toggle is released with the canopy open, the tension from the canopy pulls it, so it will look like its still held. There wont be any flapping around. The only way to know is the top of the toggle wont be in the keeper. Unless, it wasnt set right when it was packed. I always try to release both my brakes if my canopy is spinning. Or use my risers to fly my canopy straight. Either way when in doubt cut it away. I dont know if this person was too low to cut away, or just lost track of time, but it is a sin to not try everything, never go in with handles in place. I dont know what class you are taking but I just finished win2000 pro and the test had absolutly nothing to do with the class. I suggest finding a third party study guide or you can go to www.cramsessions.com and get some help with it. I bought the guaranteed to pass stuff and it made all the difference. You might have gotten your left to right mixed up the handle is on the left (Unless) Im sheltered and have only jumped 1 skyvan and its different. Which might be the case but the handle is on the left in the Deland skyvan. Either way good post. Most of my jumps are video and it gets to be a pain when you have to get someone to open the door so the visiting team your filming can exit. And I cant do it with my wings. We have a videographer at my Dz his name is Gus WIng. Some of you might have heard of him. But Gus owns a copyright to all his video and he has a SAG card. He pays dues and paid for his copyright. This is all a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo but it helps in this subject. Gus always informs his customers that this video is for private viewing and any sales must be made through him. This solves all future problems that might come up. Im sure Joe Jennings has the same deal. But this might help any videographer who is concerned with someone making money from his work.
