I have a CAM-EYE and I've gotta tell ya, it's one of the best investments I've made in fliming. I know beyond a doubt that my camera is on, and funtioning. I know without a doubt that it is recording when I climb out on the step. I would suggest everyone get one, especially when you need to get the shots, paod for or otherwise. Fumbling around as you're headed for the door is one thing that you don't need. When I first started, I had a video camera that didn't have one. WHAT A MISTAKE IT WAS!!! I missed quite a lot of skydives, because of auto-off's and just plain missing the button. Do yourself a favor, spend a few extra bucks and make sure that when you clim out, you know what your camera is doing. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Bummer!!! You're gonna miss a GREAT TIME!!!!!!! oh, ....and the skydives will be fun too! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

You've gotta go to Perris or Elsinore. Take HWY 10 West. Then decide which drop zone to go to. Personally, I hang at Perris. Elsinore has a lake to look at in freefall that's pretty nice. Have fun! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

I'd call BONEHEAD before doing anything. Application of extreme heat may do more than you think to the integrity of the helmet. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Get what you want. Who cares, really? As long as you're happy. I will suggest bright colors look better on prints and videos. Just my humble opinion. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

If the tandem is flying well, sometimes I like to grip the "master". I don't grip the passenger because who knows what they will do. I must trust the tandem master before anything is tried that might affect the ride. ( I don't do this all the time.) But then really, what is a grip? Does the passenger like it, or is it just for us to play with??? Just a thought. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Ok, after exiting the plane I shoot the drogue deployment, then I move in for the money shot! After that, depending upon how they're flying, I'll swoop around them, (they turn the other direction) makes for a great shot. Then back to the money shot again. Pop up a bit, then down low again, then get ready to shoot the deployment(slo-mo) in editing (LOOKS GREAT) then as I fall away, shoot the opening. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Note from Ed O'Beirne from Conceptus, Inc.

me too! Thanks, ED! Blue skies http://www.curtisglennphotography.com -
I generally shoot: - ground footage - student getting dressed-(If I have time) - interview (why did you want to skydive, who are you here with, etc) -the long walk to the holding area with fades and short shots. - the student getting on the plane-photo op at the door - some shots with the door open - in plane interview-alti shot then fade to face and interview - freefall & opening - my canopy ride down (spiraling down goes over well with the students) - part of their canopy ride (once i land) - their landing - exit interview (did you enjoy, etc) I try really hard and have had excellent feedback from clients that I "have made them seem like GOD " on the videos. Just a little extra time with slo-mos, and some individual shots seem to really make the clients feel important. I mean afterall_I am doing this for them. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

I use a tongue switch and I've only had one fail for me. I started with a blow switch, but decided to switch for hardware reasons. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

talk to Quade at FUTURECAM.COM He's started using one, and it's VERY NICE! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Big, cheap, durable. What else do you need??? http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Hey, just thought I'd add my two cents. I shoot videos. When I'm shooting, the RSL is OFF! When I jump RW, then I re-attach it, just incase something happens at a lower opening alti. Just my two cents. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

That sounds like a great canopy. I fly a TRI 150, but for demos I'll be using no less than a PD 210. Big is safe, and safe walk away! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

I've always found great results with SONY tapes. They're almost flawless and they hold up well with re-use. I've also had pretty good luck with FUGI tapes as well. A good additive is to keep the tape heads clean. I try to run a cleaner on them about every 10 working hours, just to keep things running smoothly. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

I very much enjoy the STROBOFRAME attachment for my still camera. It's quick, releases easily (when I want it to) and doesn't move around on the plate. Just my two cents. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

uh....yeah. Thanks for the correction. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Hey, I shoot tandems and formations as well. I tend to set the film speed at 500, and let the camera figure out the rest. I set up my camera just short of infinity, and it seems to create some pretty good still, either close up or from overhead. (Tell them to smile, the pics look better) http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Gotta love the high-fives you get when the tandem passenger says "Dude, you made me look like a GOD!" Is there really anything better than that? Getting to watch the first jump is as much fun as shooting a good 4-way block series. They are all fun, and once in a while I still DO laugh in free fall. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

Getting kicked in the face during a Tandem opening.
YahooLV replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
DUH, Back off a couple of feet, and watch out for flying shoes, too! If ya get kicked, you're too close. ...and if a shoes comes at you, get it on film, it's a great video perk!!!!!! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com -
Sigma is a nice rig to shoot. Although, I've only shot a few, they were at a pleasant angle to work with. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
