  1. "I made the comment that it's a good thing I wasn't carrying my rig with me" Again, let those who lead ask the questions and do the investigations, while those who "look" are bypassed. Sometimes it's better not to say anything, until the questions has been asked. Then only answer the question. Most supervisors who deal with these rig packages will understand by your simple answers, not talking too much and blowing smoke. Smoke will only get in your eyes! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  2. So, I can definitely see why this is desirable by the government, in the case of airline pilots or perhaps by drop zone for tandem masters. It's not just for tandem masters anymore....... http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  3. Well, I like KENKO .5 lrns. It's good all-round usage seems to be working for me. It's a bit easier on the pocket than a SONY lens. Just my 2cents...... http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  4. Count me in for at least SUnday on C.C.Weekend, and probably the whole weekend later. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  5. How are you gonna get here, WALK?!? Sunset is about 7ish. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  6. So do you think I should let him jump? This guy's a hoser! Better for the sport if he doesn't jump. Besides, he'll scream like a girl on exit! bwwwwaaaahhhhhh! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  7. I owned a JVC video camera when I first started jumping and filming 4-ways and larger groups. THEY SUCK! Stabilizers are much better with SONY and WAY easier to use than JVC. There are so many perks to SONY that unless you really want to know the hardships I went though, I just leave it at that. GO SONY! It will only make your life easier. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  8. It's a little known factoid that he also holds the distinguished title of BASE Strike 1 (first person to strike all four objects, B, A, S and E). ALL THAT AND BAD JOKES TOO! Proud to call him a friends. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  9. Landing patterns are supposed to be set by the first flyer down. Hopefully , this flyer is smart enough to know that there are a lot of people counting on his/her expertice to set an appropriate pattern that is safe and sane. Some dropzones, (Perris) have a preferred pattern for no-wind or indiscriminate wispy breeze landings. Check around with manifest or ask a few people for advice before you get going. Now, all that being said, the wind can change directions at anytime. If you don't like the pattern, lost likely, you can land a bit "out" in a direction most consisitant with appropriate landing directions. Now that we're entering the "DEVIL" season, be aware of where you are flying to, and keep your eyes open for swirlies. Have fun, be safe! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  10. What is the answer to #3? I think it's A...no wait, B....ooops, sorry, it's C! Yeah, definately, D! Have fun! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  11. Finally, after 1300+ jumps, video flyer and all-round great guy went to the edge of canopy flight. Who'ld a thought, me a CRW flyer?!? Yep. 3 docks, and a lot of fun! What's next, Mike? http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  12. John, I have jumped smoke a couple of times. In answer to your questions, smoke burns very hot. You need to have a quality smoke bracket to hold the smoke, and not burn your ankle. Also, remember that white smoke burns the cleanest and it's the cheapest. Colored smoke leaves a residue on EVERYTHING! My suggestion to you is to get in touch with your local "pro" instructor to get some valuable tips on smoke diving. As far as purchasing smoke, PARAGEAR sells it, and you might be able to find it out and around. Ask people around your dropzone, and go from there. Remember, NEVER pop smoke in the plane, and have some safety thoughts about what to do after you land with a very hot used canister. (metal bucket, not plastic. NEVER throw it into a trash bin either) Ask questions, and know before you go. Later, Curt http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  13. I agree http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  14. Also, how many jumps do you have? It took me a "few " jumps to get the timing right. Also, if you can, get the tandem masters to have similiar exit counts. Out-in-out seems to work for me. Leave just a touch before them, drive hard to them and watch out for the drogue. Get that all-important opening face shot if you can. Have fun!!! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  15. ah, oh nevermind!?! oh.......yeah, nevermind hehe http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  16. Camera suits are a very beneficial asset for shooting videos. They give the flyer much more control "over the top" while you're shooting formations, and much more range in shooting tandems. It all comes down to: How do you fly, what are you going to shoot, and what do you want out of video work. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  17. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start without them, learn to fly yourself before adding anything else. Try (weather permitting) shorts and t-shirt, this way you learn to fly, after that the proper jumpsuit with or without booties will probably enhance your capabilities. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you learn to drive with a stickshift before you went automatic? I did. In the snow too! The hardest thing was to tell the driving instructor that I really didn't mean to drop the tranny and leave it in the driving course!!!! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  18. Do have the ability to NOT collide with your subjects. Don't chew gum while using a blow switch! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  19. I own one and I love it. It took a while to figure out the placement and tightness of the helmet, but I've got over 800 jumps with mine and I really do love it. THANKS, BONEHEAD!!! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  20. use the tabs. Velcro totally blows, and it can sometimes fall apart when it gets a bit older. I've had a few surprises due to velcro being worn. It's not fun. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  21. If you call Eloy, I believe they will come and pick you up and drop you off at the airport later. Just a thought. Curt http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  22. Anything CANON makes is a good choice. I have a REBEL and love it. It's cost effective and shoots great pics. 2000 is nice also. It's your budget, you make the call. HAVE FUN!!!!!!! http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  23. Well, if it has all of the books, and still in a box, I'd really think about it. You might be surprised what you can find abroad. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
  24. call 'em and ask 'em. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com

    Film question?

Depends on what you're looking for in a picture. Looking for darker colors, and more blue overtones, use Fuji 100 and step it down to about 80 or so with a shuter speed of your choice. Brighter colors, look to Kodak 100 for bright and cheery photos. Just my 2 cents. http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
