almost everything is booked for our trip but I need some (more) advice on getting to elsinore/perris... here's the deal: my buddy is landing in LAX on the 3rd, and i'm leaving Las Vegas on the 5th. option I: he'll find his way from LAX to elsinore with public transportation, and i'll rent a car in vegas and drive. option II: he'll rent the car in LAX, i'll fly to Ontario and he'll pick me up from there. question is, how does he get from LAX to elsinore ? thanks O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

planting a bomb on a child ? i've never heard of something like that before O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

not trying to start another "who's right" thread. In a world so filled with terror, this report might not shock you, but to me, its another line that has been crossed. the sad fact is that i was unable to find this report in any major news site. i've finally found it hidden within another story on the BBC website. just read it and think... i can say for myself that naturally i'm happy it was prevented and lives were saved, but i'm also very happy for this poor child who was used in such a way. BBC report simply sad. strange it didn't get more headlines. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

your whole representation is wrong. if: f(x,y)= xy then the partial differentiations are: df(x,y)/dx =y df(x,y)/dy=x what you wrote "dx/dy" has no meaning because x is not a function of y, they are both variables of f(x,y) the product rule would work if y is also a function of x. no one has ever offered me... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

yeah , saw it too. although it looks like their job and not ETA (which usually call first and warn about their bombs), i would wait with the conclusions. they'd be happy to take the "credit" even if it wasnt them... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

i have several stories like that. sadly, almost all of us here in israel have been, should have been or could have been where terror struck... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

i'll probably be one of them O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

my DZ has a single Cessna 208 Caravan which holds about 14 jumpers. there is atleast 1 JM on each load and he usually sits near the door and also spots (although we usually have the same jump run and the pilot always knows where we are and where we should jump) anyway, what i'm trying to say is that in this case, most people will never get to spot. i agree that its an important skill and i try to atleast "agree" with the spot before jumping, but in some cases people just dont get the chance to do it. then again, i've never jumped in a DZ where you have to direct the pilot. going to be in the area of Perris & elsinore in mid april (5th-16th) and i could use some help with where to stay. the bunkhouse option in either of the DZ is considered, but since we'll be 2-3 splitting a room i guess a motel room would cost about the same (we'll have a car ). anyone knows of a descent (20-35$) motel in the area (beside those listed on the DZs webpages) ? thanks O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

i have diabetes for about 9 years (wow, thats a long time...) and i've been jumping for almost 3 years. to make it simple, i dont see skydiving as being any different from any other activity you have to be on top of things for (ie, driving, diving etc) and the amount of time in which you can't pop something sweet is not so long anyway (as opposed to scuba diving), keep yourself a bit higher than normal and test before you go up. i do agree with the advice you got to stay on the ground until you are sure youre pretty much balanced. i really don't agree with the "can't start jumping" with diabetes. some doctors would hesitate to give you a note that its ok, mine did at first and i can understand it. after all, its their butt on the line if you pass out in mid air. but after i've explained it to them i got a note stating that i'm in good control, drive a car and run a normal life (they didnt want to mention skydiving in specific...) anyway, i know of several diabetics who jumps, and its not a problem. and diabetes is not a disability ! with all due respect, a pilot drinking between loads is a very good reason to close the DZ. moreover if the DZO knows about it. if you refer to the waiver as a legal document, it will not hold in such cases (which are also criminal) if you talk about "giving your word" then all i can say is that when i sign up and pay for a jump i'm also "taking their word" that they're doing evryything (that is up to them) to keep me safe. i dont know what's the legal term, but when you're paying for a service (and jumping at a DZ is a service) it is implied that you'll get what you paid for. and i expect to get well maintained equipment and a DZO that knows what the staff is doing. its kinda sad. beside the celeb doing a tandem gig which happens every few weeks there's nothing. a TV show dedicated to extreme sports did one episode on skydiving. but you're right, there is an "extreme" sports channel that mostly shows snowboards, and wind surfing... never saw anything about skydiving. maybe its because people think we simply fall out of a plane and do nothing... o "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

and get arrested after you land... me? carry it on unless i'm in france and the damn local police doesnt allow it onboard. or as the stupid police woman said "my airport, my rules", and since her english was almost as bad as my french i gave up (and my TSA letter didnt seem to impress her ). O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

are you sure this would hold in court? i won't sue because of a bad spot, canopy collision or anything else which is part of the sport but engine maintenance issues are like not having the reserve repacked on time on a student rig, and if i'm not mistaken its also criminal (there are laws about who is responsible for taking care of the aircraft.) do you really expect anyone to check the plane's books and checkup history ? would you do that when you travel with a regular airliner ? how is that different? at least here in israel, courts don't really like "unified contracts" in which one signing can't change anything. as long as it protects the DZ from risks which are a part of the sport (including mechanical failures), ok. let the skydivers know about them and decide whether they want to jump. but poor equipment maintenance ? i doubt it will hold in court. thats what i'm afraid of. a person who is sure he is the god of the terminal will not call his supervisor, unless he has to. what do you do? walk away, and look for a phone, risking additional delay? argue and risk further trouble with someone who can fuck up your trip? btw, where on their site can i find a list of reginal contacts? thanks O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
