thanks everybody. i've thought about the "fly to Ontario" options but i'm not sure i'd like to risk taking another flight with my rig, i'm taking 4 flights already... currently its either renting a car or finding our way with trains and buses (and local skydivers ) O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

ok , i'll try to be clear... i'm supposed to arrive on April 2nd (friday). i was thinkin of jumping during the weekend at one of the local Dz and then spend the week in Vegas, and then head for Perris. my friend doesnt want to spend a few days in the city and would rather jump more or maybe ski. so i need to check the local options for him or a way for me to get to perris alone, if he'll be going there a few days before me. hope its clearer now

i thought you might... there is no "plan" yet, but i thought of spending the weekend at a local DZ (since vegas hotel rates jump during the weekends) then the week in vegas, and then drive to perris. are any of the DZs near Vegas open during the week? that would be great because i could "park" my friend there during the week shouldnt you be asleep now anyway? starting to plan a trip to the US, either to Fl, or Cali. my plan is to start with a few days in Las Vegas, make a lot of money, then spend it all jumping (Perris or Eloy are the options, feel free to suggest others.) anyway, my buddy has something against Vegas (don't know why) so i need some help... 1) beside car rental, are there any other ways to make the trip from vegas to the perris area (if we'll split up and he'll go there a few days in advance)? 2) he might be willing to go skiing while i'm earning an honest living at the BlackJack tables. i know there are a couple of slopes not too far away, any recommendations? help me out, or i'll be forced to go to miami and visit disney world (again... ) O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

i think it means, first slow down by breaking half way (or a bit less) and then flare by pulling the brakes all the way. i know some newbies land like that because its easier until they learn to flare at the right momnet. this is the point where i tell you to take anything I or anyone else here say, like it is, free advice from people who could be clueless. not saying that i am, but always use your head O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

cock the pilot chute : what we do with "kill line pilot chutes" in order for them to be ready for the next jump (just look for someone holding the bag with one leg and streching the pilot chute and ask) kill line : a "device" on the pilot chute that causes it to collapse after deployment, reducing the drag, hence it has to be "cocked" before the next jump so it will be able to pull the bag out. stage flare: if i understand what you're talking about, its a 2 stage flaring technique, but i wont go into that because i'm not sure thats what you mean PLF: in simpler term : fall and roll so you dont break anything, they should have shown it to you during AFF.
