I didn't say I support it and neither did the jewish leadership back then who actually went after them. Hamas, IS the leadership and even before that, Arafat did not do anything to stop them (and others) I said there is a difference between targeting official symbols (and the king david hotel was one) and military installations Vs. civilians as the prime target. btw, if you research it some more you'll see that before every attack on such symbol they called in advance and warned them to clear the builfing. in the king david incident, the warning was ignored. still, I think it was a mistake, but its still not the same. yeah right, THAT is why Hamas fires from school yards and civilian houses... talk about being blind... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
again, not a valid comparison. They were targeting the british presence here. there were no British civilians only army and officials. but, even if you go there, a comparison would be valid had they went on to blow things in London AFTER the british left in 1948. I disagree, what is the alternative, not shoot back because they are using human shields, against any war convention? when you are under fire, you fire back. you try to hit only those who are actual firing but it is not always possible (and Hamas is making sure it won't be easy). "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

first of all, that's not how it usually happens. I personally know of many cases where a Hamas target was recognized and no action was taken because there were civilians very close. what usually happens is that in the middle of a fierce battle the Israeli forces spot the source of the fire and fire back. the forces on the ground don't always know who is there, all they know is there is enemy fire from there. yes, sometimes you will accept civilian casualties if a target is important enough. and yes, if Hamas uses a school to launch rockets from, they are also responsible for it being hit. Israel targeted the source of the fire, whoever used a school as a source of fire is responsible for the result. it is bloody and I hope it will stop. but i see a huge difference between targeting and not targeting civilians. what is wrong? hurting civilians? yes. targeting civilians? much more so. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

so now youtube is the oracle of truth? yes, Israel hurt civilians, it doesnt make them the target. here is another video for you, it shows Hamas firing mortar shells 2 feet from a UN school. who is to blame when the school gets hit when Israeli forces return fire? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmXXUOs27lI "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
no, the part that says you cant hid behind the Geneva convention regarding civilians getting hurt while you are the one who is putting them in danger is. and by doing so it saved the UN from becoming a complete joke. you honestly don't see a problem with "impartial" resolutions where 21 members of the UN are Arab countries, and 52 members represent Islamic countries? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

not once it pulled out. again, instead of explosive they could have imported food and supplies. actually no, they won the elections to parliment. they took control of the government by overthrowing the PA (and killing many in the process) they have and they did. they refused to even recognize the treaties already signed with the PA. if they dont respect what was already signed, how do you want to sign new things with them? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

the same international law you like so much... or to make it simple, they cannot operate from civilian houses and back yards and then complain civilians get hurt. UN resolutuins are meaningless when you have an automatic arab/muslim majority for any anti-israeli idea. claiming that the UN is impartial is not even funny... two notes: 1. it doesn't say anywhere that Israel has to supply Gaza with anything. Gaza has a border with Egypt. Hamas dag hundreds of tunnels under the border and they could smuggle food instead of rockets and explosives, right? 2. Israel DID supply Gaza with fuel, electricity and supplies (again, to a hostile governmet). do you want the list of times Hamas has blown up the border crossings? if Hamas blows up these crossings, can you blaim israel for not reopening them? seriously... anad again, the fact that they were democratically elected has no impact on anything. the choises they make is the only thing that matters O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

takes one to know one, i guess... let me put it in simple words so you'll get the message... civilians die in Gaza because Hamas launches attacks from their back yards. your claim that Israel should hold back because of that doesn't make sense. If Hamas respects the rules of engagement (i,e seperate combatants from civilians) fewer civilians will get hurt. fighting door to door in Gaza is not exactly on our "happy to do" list. it sux, it puts our soldiers at risk (most of the structures are packed with explosives) and it puts civilians in the middle. but guess who benfits from all of the above? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

no, there are actually 6 of them. 7 on wednesdays... stop knit picking and focus on what's important. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
that's exactly the problem, they never stop complaining. you know what ? you can't always have everything that you desire and sometimes its better to make do with what you have. and please spare me the "Israel took their land" speech, both nations have a valid claim on the same land and neither can have it all for itself. I care about Hebron just as much as your Palestinian friends care about Haifa, but I am willing to let it go and build something good on what I DO have. when Israel pulled out of Gaza, the palestinians there could have done the same and trust me, their situation would have been much better. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
suprise, me too. believe it or not, no one in israel is happy to see innocent people getting hurt. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
add to that palestinian roads and territories that Israelis are not allowed in. this has nothing to do with racism nor religion, get over it already. yeap, you finally got it. unprovoked constant attacks before or after they vowed to destroy Israel? oh wait, they never stopped doing that... "elected" doesnt equal "good", they elected terrorists, now they pay the price. who said "racist"? what the hell are you talking about? btw, israelis come in all shapes, sizes and colors, yes, black too. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
even if you go by that twisted logic... when Begin became a politician he was no longer a terrorist, was he? this is a switch the Palestinians have not made. Arafat started to but he too kept terrorism as a valid option... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
the problem people used to be problem people, now they are the government... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
after years of unprovoked constant rocket attacks from Gaza, I'm saying exactly that, loud and clear. we did, and we chose democracy. not sure it will last if Israel is destroyed by its neighbours. choosing has nothing to do with it. the US protects Israel for the same reasons it helped the UK in WWII (before it actively joined). a similar culture, set of values and way of life. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
yes, it does. but if that's what they've elected... the fact that Hamas was elected democratically does not reduce the legitimacy of this operation. if anything, it strengthens it. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
actually, the border crossings to Gaza have been open and lots of supplies (food and medical) were delivered in the past few days. Our war is not with the palestinian people, even though they have elected Hamas as their government. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
I'm not sure why you've added these quotes, Israel is in fact attacking Hamas and its symbols of power. no arguement there. when one is looking for reasons, one will find them. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
indeed, the chicken and the egg. while I can't say that Israel has never been the one to break the egg. in most cases it was Hamas who (unlike Israel) vowed never to stop until Israel is destroyed. again, when Israel pulled out of Gaza, there was no reason to launch any attacks, right? whenever Israel opened the border crossings, what reason was there to blow up the same crossings that provide Gaza with supplies? trust me, if there is quiet from Gaza, there is quiet IN Gaza. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
which government? you really think that Israel attacks Gaza because it has nothing better to do? Israel has pulled out of Gaza and clearly said it has no business there as long as no attacks are coming out of there. no nation could allow thousands of rockets to be launched at civilian towns like that. Hamas didnt even try to keep it quiet. not even once. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
-
while your sarcasm is acknowledged, just imagine what would have happened if they actually DID take the opportunity given to them when Israel pulled out of Gaza and built something instead? I can promise you that the situation would have been much better for all sides. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
