  1. Bob Sinclair is 84 or so, he's been jumping for 63 years! He still makes one or two jumps a week depending on the weather. This year at Richmond he was showing us pictures of a P-51 Mustang jump he made. They took the canopy off so he could climb over the side. Then there's the things he's more commonly famous for. 2. I'm assuming my Nitron has 350 ish HMA, they're light brown, round, and the first thing I thought of when I saw them was my mini blind cords. Those guys in the factory must use magnifying glasses to sew them. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 3. As you may have noticed there are a lot of us that are scared of heights, it's mostly ladders and roofs. Someone told me it's because you'll probably be okay when you skydive, but if you fall off a roof you will definitely get hurt. I don't know if I believe that's the reason but it sounds good. Most of the dz's around here are already closed for the winter and for a good reason, it's too cold. You really want to enjoy jumping so you're better off waiting till spring anyway. I don't know which dz is closest to you way down in the corner, I've only passed through Terre Haute, it smells funny for some reason. I would pick Air Indiana Skydiving in Flora over Greensburg. Archway skydiving in Vandalia IL is a good place also , but that may be even farther. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 4. Way back in the day when I was GM certified in S.I.R.(airbags), the rule was it had to be within 30 degrees of head on. I don't remember the MPH required but 30 ish sounds right. The seldom told fun fact of airbags is that the computer that runs it has a battery back up, so the bags will deploy if the cars battery is destroyed. It will still fire the airbags for 8 minutes after the cars battery is fried. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 5. Absolutely. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  6. QuoteKind of ironic that everybody is always all over the: "Ask you instructor" line but as soon as it's about WL, everybody seems to know better then the instructor. I find it hard to believe that someone is going to get bored with a 150 at 100 jumps total. What are the odds he's going to be proficient at the items on BillVons downsize list? Doing each thing once and crossing it off the list isn't the intention. If his instructor says he's okay with a 150 then maybe he is, for now. He's not going to be ready to get rid of it in 50 jumps either, so I wonder what the instructor has to sell him. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 7. All 150's are considered high performance, regardless of wingloading. I do know two women that jump Sabre 1-150's right off student status but they only weigh 100 lbs.. If you thought about a 170 you're probably right. That 1:1 logic has limits, 100 lbs. girl on a 99 would be bad. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 8. Um...yeah... because gay/lesbian couples NEVER utilize artificial insemination or host mothers, right? oh yeah... [/sarcasm] You are correct. It probably doesn't happen as often as accidental pregnacies. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 9. Ok. Evolution intended it to be that way. The population is already too much for the earth to handle for very long, so maybe sodomy is a solution to some of the issues that have come about as a result of too many people being born? So evolution devised a plan of homosexuality in order to control the human population? I'm sure the gay community would support the idea that their only purpose is to eliminate part of the population. And here I thought they say being gay is not their choice, like some kind of genetic disease that needs to be cured. I'm in favor of gays being married, it seems like an easy way to reduce the population a little. If the govt. is going to make any more laws about marriage it should be to mandate a seven year waiting period to get married. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 10. How about putting up a suggestion to put a little more info in the subject line in the introduction section. There's a whole of ones that just say something to the effect of,"newbie here" and that's it. I'd like to see people at least put what state/province/whatever they're from, or maybe even what dz they jump at. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 11. I predict the same thing. My first coach jump (as a coach) was putting a student out on his graduation hop-n-pop. I wanted to put him out at 3,500, but the boss made me take him all the way up to 5,000. That's not near as scary, I thought that was the point, to practice getting out low. 12. 0:1:0 Sure it's not over yet, but I'm done jumping for the weekend. Brrr, did outside video of a 3 way with a guy with 600 jumps, a guy that claims several thousand jumps (liar), and a woman with 58 jumps. The 1,000's of jumps dude was backsliding with a death grip on the formation dragging them around the sky, the 600 jump dude was tracking trying to keep up, the 58 jump woman was along for the ride trying not to puke from the spinning. It was pretty funny but I was too scared to get close ups of their faces. Crappy spot, but I had to ride brakes to wait for the low guy to land first anyway. I only got 43 MPH in my landing but it was still enough to set off my 3rd siren. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 13. I second that, Man in the Box, for sure. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  14. Is this the Linda Edwin that also was hitting on some of us guys a few days ago? I'll be mad if it is, I thought I was special . "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  15. We were talking about getting one of those for the dz's loft . It was to improve the mood of the manifest people. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  16. Don't remember the name, but it was a season cliffhanger as I recalled. Ended one season with part two being the first episode of the next wasn't it? I don't know many of the episodes by name, but I've probably seen them all. The one you're talking about is "Times Arrow". The Tribble episode of DS9 was only good because of Terry Ferrel. "Encounter at Farpoint" is my favorite TNG episode. My favorite Star Trek episode ever is "End Game" from Voyager. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 17. I voted for before the B license. I know people that only have an A license that are well beyond having a D. If you don't want to get an instructor rating there's really no need to go beyond the A. A bigger problem that I've seen at several of the places I've been to is that as soon as someone can land by themselves somewhere in the landing area they get taken off of the radio. That pretty much ends their canopy training unless they happen to want to learn on their own. The coach/instructor may tell them to do stuff under canopy but there's nobody to witness it to see if they're doing it correctly, if they actually do it. Or how about if they do it, once, and then consider it learned and don't practice anymore. They got their box checked so that's all they need to know right? I had over two hundred jumps before I knew what a brake turn is. I had to learn that from a book because I couldn't get a good explanation from my home dz. I'm sure if I would've pushed the issue I could've learned earlier, but I didn't know how important they are, so I didn't. We were talking about having someone like Phil from Greensburg come to ISA this year but the dz closed up before we got the chance. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 18. Just like we do. According to Mr. Booth anyway, and I believe him. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  19. I would not recommend a Katana. The landings often are fast. I'm pretty sure he was kidding, they don't make a 190 Katana do they? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  20. There are more reasons than drag reduction to jump a removable slider/RDS and sometimes people are doing other types of jumps but want the practice with the RDS. I want one to get rid of the buzz from my slider. I can get it behind my head but it interferes with my camera when I turn my head. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 21. I like the third the best. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  22. Darn it!, I thought I was special. I thought it was my ridiculously good looking avatar picture that got her. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  23. One thing I remember is that the bad guys are eco friendly. I was surprised at the girls singing in the opening song also, I thought maybe there was a reason for it, don't know what it is. 24. Yeah, I haven't even seen the new cameras, I have a handfull of HC30's. My camera is at the most 3/16 inch away from the helmet so it's pretty tight. I've heard the modern cameras are too wide to side mount, but since I haven't seen one in person, I don't know. I choose to side mount because I jump mostly at 182 dz's and I like the extra headroom. If it weren't for that I'd try a top mount. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  25. If you haven't already, check out the111's helmet build on here, it was very nice. I like to have my camera in a box to protect it from my carelessness, and riser strikes. I have a side mount so that's an issue sometimes. This is my newest helmet, a bonehead mindwarp. I made the box out of aluminum, bolted it in place, shimmed as necessary to get it lined up they way I wanted, then JB Weld to fill any gaps between the box and helmet. This helmet with the camera weighs the same as my Velocity fiberglass helmet without the camera. I may have other pictures of this helmet in progress already on here.
