If you like spiraling down to get on the next load, or being able to turn by just thinking about it, the Stiletto is for you. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

Total ban on cellphone use while driving
gearless_chris replied to akarunway's topic in Speakers Corner
And I am INVINCIBLE! . Just kidding. Hands free is fine with me. While we're banning stuff how about banning smoking and driving, and eating and driving. We'll have a communist flag flying in no time. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -
Irritating is quite the understatement when I had to use the too tall rig. My sidemount camera kept hitting the mainlift webs and getting stuck, I couldn't really look up either because my helmet was up against the reserve. Try flying around without moving your head a few times, wait, don't do that it's not a good idea. I hated that canopy(150 Stilleto), until we put it in my rig that fit me right, then I loved it. Bruce was around 6', I'm 5'7" so there was a big difference. With Paula's little rig I felt like it might be possible to slip out the back, if I tried hard enough. With the main open I could feel the bottom of the reserve just below my shoulder blades. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. The last hard drive I bought didn't have any instructions, I don't remember if any of the other components did for sure either. I was surprised that Dr Pepper bottles do have instructions for opening the bottle, and wet or dry sandpaper has warnings to wear eye, face, and body protection. I guess I lived pretty dangerously doing body work at the shop while drinking Dr Pepper. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. I built my own couch. I can't imagine you would want a 1" square tube steel framed couch for your boat though. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

When Bruce Johnson was teaching us how to snowboard, he started with how to fall. He had us make a fist and punch the ground as we hit, we did this many, many, many times. He said you will break your wrist if you hit palms first, knuckles first is a straight shot. I only went snowboarding that one time but I got a lot of practice not breaking myself. Thanks Billvon, I'll watch for that and see if I can find an example. I assumed that her rig fit like that because she is shorter than me, and it was sized for smaller canopies (Crossfire 149, and either a PD143, or a Cricket, don't remember which reserve it had). The shorter yoke length might explain why it seemed to me like her 3 rings were more on top of my shoulders than more towards the front like mine then right? I had my first cutaway on jump number 52. It wasn't scary at the time I did it, but around a week later I started thinking about all the stuff that could've went wrong. I was nervous on the jump after that even though I had made several jumps in the meantime. The first time I did the July 4th demo at Rome city the winds were 65 MPH at 5,000 and dropped all the way to 20 MPH at the ground. The tops of the trees were 150 feet above the landing area (gravel parking lot in the middle of the picture between the marina, and the house) so the wind was actually almost zero. That was pretty darn scary too, especially after I found out Stan was concerned enough that he was to call it off until I went (Stan has done a lot of dumb stuff). That still didn't make me question my sanity, that came at Rantoul '06. We were waiting to get on the Otter when mark hit the poop truck. The guy running the Otters said,"We're still jumping if you still want to go.", so we went, and I questioned my sanity all the way to altitude. I kept thinking this is crazy we just watched a guy get seriously messed up, we didn't officially know he died until we landed. I might have quit then if Stan wouldn't have made us go on that jump. Ooopsie, didn't see the period, makes much more sense now. Maybe everybody should dress like clowns. Some of the olden's at our annual winter party were talking about how they went around giving homeless bums a dollar to pose with them for pictures and make gang signs. That would make the trip between bars funner. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

Paulagc has been using hers quite a bit, PM her to see what brand it is. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

Sounds like a good time. What are you going to do with the clown when you're done with him? Are you really going to Bucktown Ohio for your party or is that just an existing ad? How much of a gap do you have between your main lift webs and your shoulders when under canopy? I've jumped Paulagc's rig that was too small lengthwise, where the hackey was about as far up on my back as I could reach. That one didn't bother me quite as much as Bruce Johnson's rig that was way too long. Even with the legstraps tight there was 4 inches between the top of my shoulder and the harness after I opened. That could've been a problem with finding handles if the Spinletto would've given me problems. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. When we pack outside at boogies we use tent stakes through the legstraps. Inside at the dz is normally the detergent bottles with sand/pebbles. At the Loveshack/barn where the riggers were packing they had the dumbell weights shown elsewhere in this thread. At boogies, my friend Audrey uses her weight vest in the main tray. I think she uses between 6 and 12 pounds depending on the jump. That's probably what you're after, a weight you can use for multiple purposes. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. Yup, you're married!!! Ain't that the truth. Now I remember my theme song... "It's the same old ball and chain" by one of the heavy metal bands, can't remember which one. I had to think for a minute, but it's S.O.S. (same ol' situation) by Motley Crue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXG0q0qesRw "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. I still haven't found a theme song yet, but this is the soundtrack I hear in my mind at work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StzfhFx4Cjk Somebody had the hard road restrung on their AFF video they posted here a while back. They didn't have the song listed so I had to search for it. Amazon doesn't have it in MP3 form to buy so I had to wait for the CD's to arrive. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. There are many skydivers that are afraid of heights. Besides myself I know of three others for sure, and that's just from casual conversations. If you asked around you'd probably find a lot that are. New Years Day Jump N. of Mason-Dixon
gearless_chris replied to scroadload's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We had two loads that were willing to go, but the pilot/DZO wasn't up for it, a wee bit hungover I'm guessing. His official excuse was the wind forecast was for 20+ MPH winds, and it was too cold. Our 182 doesn't have the corner piece of the door put back in the frame, so there's a big hole. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. Hopefully I'll get to try that. With my Cobalt I have had to roll the crap out of the tail to keep it from breaking me. It has caused some... interesting openings. I really hope Mel fixed it so I don't have to do anything special anymore. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane.
