The only adjustment needed would be to shorten the closing loop. This is something you should already know how to do. Be sure to ask the manufacturer of the rig you decide to buy before planning to do this though. It isn't ideal, but on most containers it isn't completely unsafe. I like the idea of getting a new container that will fit you well, it's also nice to have the modern up to date features. Get it sized for the used 210 you plan on starting with as the upper end of the scale. You want a used 210 main because a new 210 will be a bear to pack with a tight container. A new 190 shouldn't be too bad, and a new 170 should be a breeze. Going smaller is questionable and most people aren't going to recommend it. The closing loop grommets shouldn't line up when closing the flaps. If they do you won't have enough tension to be safe. I've heard this from a senior rigger, a master rigger, and also Mark from UPT. I don't know what size canopy my old rig was designed for but it's huge. We have packed a Raven 3 (254 sq.ft.) in it, and I've also had a 150 Stilleto in it. The Stilleto was very loose and I wouldn't do that again, definitely would fail the grommet test. One thing to keep in mind is that different canopies pack different even if they're advertised as the same size. A skymaster 185 packed up bigger than a 188 pilot because of the Dacron lines. The 150 Nitro I demo'd packed the same as my 170 Nitron due to the extra reinforcing the Nitro has that the Nitron doesn't (but is supposed to have). Paragear lists Type 2 nylon as 400 lbs. strength. I don't think you can double the strength just because the fingertrap has double the thickness, the loop is only single thickness. 2 of my broken steering lines were in the center of the loop, so it must be weaker there. I doubt you're going to shear a steel cable with a piece of nylon. How did you calculate the m.a.? The guy I was talking to from UPT at Rantoul said the mini force advantage is crap. Virtually insignificant leverage advantage, but with a much greater chance of binding. I wish I still had my reversed mini risers, it's been a while since I've seen how they route the loop. I forgot to mention how awesome Louie Loops are! I got them when I ordered my new rig, then ordered a set for my back up rig. I don't know if the extra reach length made a difference for me, but the fact that they are ALWAYS open is worth the price. The dive loops on my old UPT type 8 risers are always folded flat against the riser and required some fluffing to get them open. I'm about 270 out the door now. I deploy at speeds well above what the canopies are rated for on a regular basis. I currently jump a Cobalt that opens so hard that sometimes my video cuts out. I had a riser strike break the aluminum box my camera is mounted in. I've broken several steering lines. My monarch blew out 3 cells, bent hardware, and tore stitching out of the harness. I have not had an issue with risers breaking yet, but there's still time . When my Monarch exploded (3 cells blew out) I had the reversed mini risers with the 3 rings on the back of the riser to eliminate the grommet hole, maybe that's why I didn't break a riser on that one. I've been known to "no count" a tandem if I have a "grabby" student. Eye contact with the video guy/gal, nod and leave. I did something similar to my HC30 a few years ago. I was climbing in the back of a truck, stepped on my canopy, slipped and fell, on my helmet. Broke the front 3/4's of the way around. Epoxy worked to hold it together for a year until a riser strike finished it off. It still worked, but I didn't have the wire issue either. Good luck.
