  1. LuckyMcSwervy gets my vote. Sunshine is good too though. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  2. Actually it is just that easy, and lots of "Pro" packers will give you a hard time about it. If you want to have a good laugh, listen to the Pro packers while they're packing and compare the noises to the Psycho packers. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 6. There was a person at the DZ with maybe 30ish jumps. In one of his first few pack jobs he gave himself a nice line over. He felt he was still flying in the general direction he wanted to go and made the decision to not cutaway. He ended up coming in like a lawn dart and really hurt his leg. Many people came up to him to tell him he was nuts for not chopping it and he did the wrong thing. He agreed but I could tell he was not convinced that he should have gone to the reserve…or the “unknown” as he called it. I know in skydiving, and in life for that matter, you tend to do what you practice. Maybe next time he absolutely should chop and will ride it in again. A neptune would've come in handy to check his descent rate to see if it was really landable. Or if he would've had another canopy that he knew flying beside him to gauge his descent rate. I wouldn't try to land a mal without either of those. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

  8. RWS tld me they couldn't lengthen my harness a few years ago. 400 sounds about right for a new harness. My bill was $775 for new stainless hardware, new harness, risers, 2 soft reserve handles, 1 breakaway handle, and they did some minor repairs(replaced some grommets and did something to a flap). 9. I have no reservations about using either of my reserves. I have 4 rides on my Raven 1 and none yet on my R-max. I wouldn't try landing a real malfunction but broken steering lines aren't a big deal. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 10. Even if you own your house, you're renting it from the government, with property taxes. It sucks that you aren't allowed to go completely off the grid. The Amish still have to work along with us to keep the property they own. I don't want to live off the grid right now, but I'd like to have the option. 13. I have the ring type chincup on my Mindwarp, I like it but the handle is kind of a pain when I try to look straight down under canopy (it hits my chest). Of the button is lower profile I may want one for my Velocity. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 14. Absolutely! I wear my protective gear all the time at home now. I wouldn't want to get hurt and screw up my jumping. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

  16. For long term durability go with regular orange, not the flo. orange, it fades faster. My trim tape is the regular orange and it's still pretty bright. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  17. I'm not mark but this is what my rig looked like when brand new out of the box. The gray areas are smoke, the lighter area around the reserve is silver. So far rthe smoke is holding up fine, I got some grass stains on the silver and white though. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 18. Our hangar was being moved so we were using the terminal building at the airport until it was finished. We still used the same landing area but we were now on the west end of it instead of the east end. There is a concrete parking lot for airplanes that was separated from our landing area by a waist high chain link fence. The fence runs from southwest to northeast. Somewhere in the north end of our new landing area was a 2 inch steel post with what looked like a golf ball cleaner on top of it. The winds on this day were out of the north. We had the evil weeble (spiderman) thrown out in the landing area for an accuracy target. My original landing plan was to do a left 180 front riser to get the weeble and land northwest to avoid the pole to the north. While I was starting my turn Ballsack Jack's kids moved from where they were standing and were now in my planned path. I had plenty of altitude so I turned a little harder to put them on my right instead of my left. It worked out perfect, I still got to hit the weeble, and I missed the pole by miles since I was landing west now. Oh yeah, about that fence I mentioned earlier, I never in a million years would have thought my 170 would've covered that much ground but it was quickly apparent that I was not going to stop in time. I briefly thought about stabbing the brakes to pop over the fence and decided landing on the concrete would be bad, besides what if I ALMOST made it over? I better stay on the ground and slide it out. I checked to make sure I wasn't lined up with a pole and it was all good, so here we go. I ended up on my back, under the fence to my neck, with the canopy draped over the fence on the same side as my body. I don't know if here's a moral to this story, I'd do every thing the same except move my initiation point farther east, or get my feet up to catch the fence instead of going under it. It's a great video because you can't see the fence until I hit it. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 19. Sometimes it says I have no friends, so I started adding all the people I know I've met. How's the TV show coming along? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  20. They say all welders are assholes, there's just different levels of assholiness. I like to exit the plane and swooping. My favorite exit is doing outside video on the camera step of an Otter, wait until the last diver leaves, then race them to the base. It's awesome when the formation is coming at you at 60+ MPH. 21. The grommets on this rig have never lined up with each other, but when it was brand new I did have one that wasn't under the main pin cover flap area, I think it was the grommet for the bottom flap (the first that the closing loop goes through). While I have you here, sometimes the main pin cover flap opens and sometimes it stays closed. Is that anything to worry about? I've not had any problems with it yet. I also have a question about stowing the RSL. The end of the RSL by the shackle is pretty long and flaps around, there appears to be a pocket to tuck it in, but it looks like the pocket isn't finished. The purple arrow in rsl-1 is pointing to this pocket looking thing. I've been tucking the excess under the reserve risers, is that okay? 22. I was gonna buy a 310 last week for a 150 main / 143 reserve combo (preserving the ability to downsize to a 135) but I just found a deal on a used rig with a Silhoutte 170 and Smart 160. So, my question right now is: Is there a container that can fit a Smart 160, as well as a ZP 150 and ZP 135? Also, could i temporarily squeeze a Silhouette 170 in there if I were a good packer? (i.e. I pay for a good packer)? The 347 is made to fit a 160 reserve and a 150 main (also allowing you to downsize to a 135). If the Silhouette is used (not brand new and slick) you can probably fit it in there, but it will not be fun. Borrow the container and try to put the Silhouette in it and see if you are confortable packing it (or paying your packer a little extra to deal with it). Mark Klingelhoefer We put Jeanne's 175 Falcon in my 347, it's F-111, used, and she psycho packs also, but it seemed to fit okay. I didn't notice the flap grommets being way out of place like I was expecting. Like Mark said, the ZP material may make it fit tighter than the all F-111. My container was a pain to close when it was brand new but it seems to have broken in now. It took about 40 pack jobs to get it flexible enough to close the flaps easily. 23. No, it's the same as every other canopy on earth. Pull on a front riser- airspeed and riser pressure will build, a.ka. become harder to hold on to. Pull on the back risers- airspeed and riser pressure will decrease, a.k.a. become easier to hold on to. Sorry, let me explain what I meant better. If I make a 180 front riser turn and let off, the fronts are easier to pull than the rears, while the speed is still higher than in normal flight. On all the other canopies I've jumped you wouldn't even think about trying to re-apply the fronts until the speed dropped back down some. I haven't tried pushing the rears out to the side yet instead of down but I will soon. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane.
