  1. It's even harder for sex offenders. They can't live near schools, playgrounds, etc. even if their crime was not against children. The restrictions got so bad in Miami that the only place registered sex offenders could live was under a highway overpass. And they couldn't move to another city because that would violate their probation. I'm not condoning sex crimes in any way, but if society wants to remove those people permanently, then they need to be sentenced to life without parole. Giving someone five years, but then not letting them rejoin society in any meaningful way doesn't give them any incentive to reform themselves. - Dan G
  2. Are you claiming that sea levels are not rising? It seems like you've gone back to denying the climate is changing at all, as opposed to denying it is influenced by man. - Dan G
  3. I'm not kidding. Where do you draw the line on which rights the government should protect, and which it should restrict? Why is "equal treatment" of Hobby Lobby a noble goal, but "equal treatment" of gays and lesbians isn't? - Dan G
  4. Care to reply substantively? Why do you think granting the Hobby Lobby company religious freedom rights is a good Constitutional step, but you're fine with restricting people from marrying someone they love or smoking weed? - Dan G
  5. The only people being treated the same here are religious non-profits and closely held for profits. I suspect publicly traded companies will be next, since corporations now have the right to religious freedom. Eventually, they'll get the right to vote, too. - Dan G
  6. Actually, it extended a law signed by Bill Clinton. The original law applied only to religious non-profits. This activist ruling (remember, you hate judicial activism) extends the law to include closely held, for profit companies. - Dan G
  7. Hobby Lobby won't provide any contraceptive, nor were they ever asked to. Hobby Lobby does not provide health care to their employees. They pay a portion of the premiums to a third party insurance company, who in turn reimburses Hobby Lobby employees a portion of the cost of 16 out of the 20 FDA approved contraceptives. What I don't understand is how it is against Hobby Lobby's religion to provide a portion of premiums to a third party insurer who will in turn reimburse Hobby Lobby employees a portion of the cost of the other 4 approved contraceptives. Hobby Lobby is so far removed from the actual act of contraception that I fail to see how their religious beliefs have anything to do with it. And to the argument that the decision was limited, I expect to see more and more "closely held" companies discovering strong religious beliefs in the coming years. - Dan G
  8. These two statements are in conflict. Either you presented an expired card or you didn't. And the word you can't seem to grasp is "Holds" - Dan G
  9. So stolen Iraqi money is fully fungible, but no one will take the US dollar anymore? Please. - Dan G
  10. Just to be clear, you've presented your expired USPA license to an FAA official after being ramp checked while doing tandems? Demos and tandems aren't the same. - Dan G
  11. As with all things FAA, the answer is probably going to vary FSDO to FSDO. If you are really concerned with getting a final answer, you need to write a letter asking for clarification to the FAA General Counsel. I suspect you might not like the answer you get. - Dan G
  12. Yeah, 'cause Germany's never had any crazy politicians... - Dan G
  13. If a skydiving store isn't making more than $60 profit on $7,000 worh of gear (sold at MSRP), then they deserve to go out of business. The OP had every right to ask for a free assembly and pack job. It was not unreasonable at all. The store has every right to refuse. That, too, was not unreasonable. Everything else that's going on in this thread is just a dick measuring contest. - Dan G

    Toyota popup?

Toyota? I get a Bentley ad. I guess Google knows I'm higher class than you. - Dan G
  15. They probably played Grand Theft Auto to practice for the jump. - Dan G
  16. You paid a lawyer $7,000 to reduce a $11,000 tax bill? How much did you think they were going to reduce it by? - Dan G
  17. We get the exact opposite missives. Substantive e-mails are kept at my company. Destroying them can be considered unauthorized destruction of records. - Dan G
  18. It also refers to method. Every unsolved gun murder is a potential drone strike. - Dan G
  19. If your theory on lack of traceability is correct, how do we know it's not already happening? - Dan G
  20. You clipped his sentence. He was calling Amazon rude. And my statement stands on its own. - Dan G
  21. Your link just brings me to his main page. Is there a specific article you wanted me to read? - Dan G
  22. I haven't claimed to know anything. I was asking for your evidence from a source other than Steven Goddard. I suspect you don't have any, and are being intentionally obtuse at this point. It's a shame, I thought we were going to have a productive discussion. - Dan G
