"As it should be" the death penalty wouldn't cost a cent, because we'd abolish it. - Dan G
-
Sure, so we'll use $25B. Of course, that includes international assistance, and tax credits for the use of cleaner energy, which have nothing to do with bribing scientists to lie about climate change. That's still less than the profit of one oil company (a company that likely receives some of that $25B in tax credits). Are you still saying that the big money is climate science is on the "alarmist" side? - Dan G

Because a collection of cells is not a human being. If there are people out there "killing babies" then you'd have an argument. Abortions terminate an unviable fetus. There is only one human being involved, and that is the woman. On the other hand, I totally understand anti-abortion peoples' stance if they truly believe that a fetus is a human being. But I can't reconcile that with their apparent strong desire to kill other human beings. If human life is sacred, then you should be against the death penalty, too. Both sides see the other as hypocritical. It all depends on your definitions. - Dan G

Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up

Why don't you just come right out and explain all these innuendos? You obviously aren't afraid to ruffle feathers. - Dan G -
Really? You're going with no VA scandals under Bush? Really? - Dan G
-
How did he do that? I guess I'm not seeing the cover-up that has you concerned. - Dan G
-
I did happen under Bush, and you know it, too. - Dan G
-
Got it. The buck stops with Obama, but Bush wasn't responsible for anything because his subordinates lied to him. I don't defend everything Obama does, but blaming him personally for every government failing dilutes the legitimate complaints, such as not acting on Gitmo. - Dan G
-
Um, no. What does that have to do with Obama? - Dan G

Racism: Democrats are just as racist as any other party

How on Earth is that number calculated? - Dan G -
I understand it was a test. It's probably a good debating tactic in real life, but over the internet it just clogs up the works. OTOH, the rest of your previous post, where you explain the weight fraction and how you think it is not a significant problem, was very productive. - Dan G
-
QuoteThe 0.0004 number is the weight fraction of CO2 in the atmosphere. Oh good, you know the number. Now you can stop asking everyone else what it is. - Dan G

Can you imagine any scenario where you would be happy with something Obama said or did? - Dan G
-
Yeah, I guess so. Mike Judge also made "Office Space", which is a bona fide comedy classic. If you don't like, you don't like it. Whatever. - Dan G

It's a comedy. It's funny. It makes some very broad, and bluntly stated, sociological points. It ain't Citizen Kane. - Dan G

What does that complete non-sequitor have to do with anything? What restriction on freedom or lack of equality are you talking about? - Dan G -

Were Mitt Romney and George Bush local legislators from Nassau County, New York? - Dan G -
Every time I go the hardware store I take a stroll down the lightbulb isle. If they have a sale going on for bulbs I use, I buy some. They are usually less than $10 each, often less than $7. I'm slowly converting everything in the house to LED, and spreading the cost out over many months. - Dan G

Did you go to college? Just curious, since it seems that the people most disparaging of Universities have never been to one. - Dan G

You truly don't understand the difference between a warm snap in one region of the US over a period of weeks, and sustained, annual glacial melt over an entire continent, do you? I think I'm starting to understand the problem here. - Dan G

My point is that you can follow that logic around in circles all you want. It doesn't mean anything. - Dan G

Yeah, but where to working people get their money? Wages from corporations. So the corporations really do pay the tax. My point it that you can follow that logic around in circles all you want. It doesn't mean anything. - Dan G
