  1. Yes, that is exactly what "liberals" think. - Dan G
  2. Since no one responded to you yet, I'll give it a go. The Spectre flare doesn't suck. I'm sorry you got that impression from this thread. It is just different than other canopies, so some people have to get used to it. I had a Spectre 150 for about 400 jumps, loaded at about 1.4. I thought it was a great canopy. It opened well, was fun to fly, and I learned a lot on it. Some people don't like it, but some people do, just like everything else in life. And brake lines below the toggle eye are 100% adjustable by your rigger (or even yourself if you want). There is a lower limit as to how short you should make them, so the tail isn't being pulled down in full flight, and an upper limit since you want to be able to flare all the way, but anything in-between goes. - Dan G
  3. Okay, I was mis-remembering. Thanks. Screw Nikola Tesla, Edison was right after all! - Dan G
  4. I'm struggling to remember by EE classes here, but I though DC was not viable for long range transmission due to line losses. How do they make HV DC work? - Dan G
  5. You're making less than $15 an hour as a college graduate at an oil company? Get another job. - Dan G
  6. We're not talking about who voted for the war, just pointing out that the outrage over Benghazi doesn't seem to jive with the lack of outrage over the Iraq war. Unless you're admitting that the Benghazi outrage is merely partisan... - Dan G
  7. As tragic as what happened in Benghazi was, it was not on the same scale of 9/11 by any measure. It's simply not a good comparison. - Dan G
  8. Why is this thread still open? - Dan G
  9. You should care what the foreigner thinks because US respect and prestige is an important part of US global influence. rushmc thinks it is important. Maybe you disagree and all you care about is domestic politics. If so, I find it strange that you are obsessed with what happened in Libya. - Dan G
  10. Ask rushmc, he brought it up. - Dan G
  11. Hmm, why didn't breitbart quote the part of the report (half of it, actually) that talked about Arctic ice extent being significantly lower than average? Because it doesn't fit their bias. You need to get a better source of news. - Dan G
  12. Yep, really. You registered here only to talk about Ukraine from a pro-Russian viewpoint, haven't posted elsewhere, and haven't filled out your profile. Seems pretty suspicious to me. - Dan G
  13. The media reports on Obama's low numbers all the time. You don't want to hear it because it doesn't fit into your view of the media, but it's there. - Dan G
  14. Not really. But since that's what the Republican idea machine has been pumping out, you're forced to believe it. - Dan G
  15. Selective memory much? You seriously can't remember how low US prestige was under GWB? - Dan G
  16. Although there certainly are right wing groups aligned with the protesters in Kiev, I've seen no evidence (not supplied by Putin or RT) that the majority of the anti-government movement was fascist. I've also seen conflicting evidence about who was doing the shooting during the protests. Of course, if RT were my only news source, and I were paid to advance the Russian cause like you, I would see things in a clearer light. - Dan G
  17. A little research led me to FAR 91.905, which lists the rules that are waiverable. Oxygen requirements are not waiverable. - Dan G
  18. Ah, so you admit this whole "crisis" in eastern Ukraine is about a resource grab by Russia. Refreshing. - Dan G
  19. Thanks, I remember it now. I've jumped from above 15k a few times. There was definitely no oxygen available. I have no idea if waivers were filed or not. - Dan G
  20. I like how breitbart leaves out the last paragraph of the abstract: You really need to find better sources. - Dan G
  21. How were we retaliating for 9/11 by invading Iraq? I'm talking about using hindsight here. Do you still believe the invasion of Iraq was justified based on retaliation for 9/11? - Dan G
  22. First of all, you claimed we were exacting retaliation for 9/11. Now you're saying we were trying to depose Hussein. Which was it? Secondly, this is your position (as I understand it): 1. Ends justify the means. 2. The US should continue to be the world police, invading every country that has an evil dictator. If so, that's very scary. - Dan G
  23. Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I thought the FARs required supplemental oxygen to be provided to passengers above 15k MSL, and I though crew (pilots) were required to use oxygen above 15k MSL, too. - Dan G
  24. You're okay with retaliating against people who had nothing to do with 9/11? Even in hindsight? You really need to do some self-examination on that. - Dan G
  25. They were "reluctant to" but ended up getting a battle group and Navy Seals there within a couple days? - Dan G
