  1. I finally threw my old tapes away after realizing that if I haven't burned them to disk after ten years, I'm probably never going to. - Dan G
  2. I assume you meant prior to HB2, that transgendered people who were born male but are now female could use a woman's facility. That's true. If it was a problem needed a legal solution, where are all the stories of the little girl being scared of the football player in a wig, or the innocent wives and daughters in towels stumbling on hairy cock and balls at the YMCA? There aren't any because it wasn't a problem. This law is a solution in search of a problem. It discriminates against people for no other reason than the State wants to discriminate against people. - Dan G
  3. What gets me is people who say something "needs worked" instead of "needs to be worked". That drives me crazy. You're saving two syllables to sound ignorant. Are you that busy? - Dan G
  4. F8 gets you to the motherboard boot menu. It is totally outside of Windows. It is hardware (firmware, really) not software. And is you are creating an ISO you should be able to use a Mac. I don't think that would be platform specific. It's worth a try. The easier option is to buy a cheap USB drive and proceed as Coreece has suggested. - Dan G
  5. How about "decimate". It has come to mean total destruction. It does not mean that. The worst, which someone else pointed out, is "literally". Key and Peele did a sketch about that. A basketball player tells his fans that they can literally fly if they try hard enough, and then has to have a news conference where he admits he didn't know what literally meant. - Dan G
  6. The author makes the assumption that is a psychological disorder. He also makes the assumption that these people want treatment, which many of them do not. The ones who want treatment can get it, nothing in this law either promotes or bars that. Can you not see the irony here? The law is entirely about feelings. It is about conservative people feeling LGBT people are icky. That is all this law is about. The author goes on to make some stupid and inane points, too. He pulls out the old "little girl in a bathroom with a football player" trope, and the tired old "wives and daughters in towels at the gym". None of these things have been actual problems before, so why did NC need to legislate against them now? I'll tell you. To do exactly what Springsteen and others have said, namely try to fight against the horrifying trend of treating LGBT people like humans. - Dan G
  7. True dat. But most people stop jumping eventually anyway. Might as well get a life partner out of it. - Dan G
  8. Don't tell that to my wife, or just about every other married couple we know. Almost all my friends are married, and almost all of them met their spouse at the DZ. People tend to get caught up in the dating drama for a few years when they first start, but it settles down when people who actually like each other get paired up. - Dan G
  9. I support that law. I'm, assuming, of course, that it is limited to poaching turkey testicles. - Dan G
  10. I propose the Slam Dunk Law. Anyone caught stealing items which, when stacked up, are higher than a regulation basketball hoop should be sentenced to life in prison. This would be an amendment to by First Down Law, which states that anyone who can throw his stolen goods more than ten yards will be found not guilty. - Dan G
  11. I would hope that after the second conviction for child molestation, the offender would be behind bars forever anyway. What SkyDekker is complaining about are the three strikes laws that don't discriminate how serious the offenses actually were. If we had sensible sentencing instead of sentencing based on baseball, you wouldn't have the situations at either extreme (two time murderer up on a jaywalking charge, and three time shoplifter getting put away for life). - Dan G
  12. And they could field a good basketball team with their ex-wives (whom they cheated on). I expect they would attack Bill Clinton's infidelity regularly. - Dan G
  13. Can you truly not see the difference between the President of the United States banning the travel of all Muslims, including US citizens, into the United States, and a petition to the UK Parliament to ban the travel of a particular US citizen into the UK? Do you honestly think the two things are equivalent? I suspect not, but you will never admit it, so we are at an impasse. - Dan G
  14. Again without Autocorrect, please. You know you can turn that off, right? - Dan G
  15. Why would anyone want to ban the Mayor of London from entering the US? What would your experiment prove? Who is supposed to be the hypocrites here? You've totally gone off the rails on this one. - Dan G
  16. Did someone petition the UK government to ban the travel of all US rednecks? No, no they did not. - Dan G
  17. Taking action against a specific individual because of the statements or activities of that specific individual is not discrimination. Taking action against an entire class of people because of the statements or activities of a small percentage of people in that class is discrimination. But you knew that. - Dan G

So, there are places where Jesus isn't present? If so, I need to know where those places are, because I'm going to make a fortune setting up brothels where Jesus can't see you sin. - Dan G

No, you said Santa was a real man, but over time people made him into what they wanted him to be. Let's remind the reader that Santa is a magical being who is omnipresent, omnipotent, loving, generous, and if you're good will give you great reward. What I said was that's exactly the same thing people did to the otherwise real men known as Jesus, Mohamed, and the historical Buddha. - Dan G
  20. Seriously? I have to prove that China is trying to make money? How do I prove that? What possible proof would you accept? Making money is what companies do. What more proof do you need? On the other hand, you've got to prove that China has created the AGW hoax, and invested billions in it, to drive the West to bankrupcy. Good luck. - Dan G

Kind of like Jesus. No wait, that's exactly like Jesus. Edited to add: ...and Mohamed, and the Buddha. - Dan G
  22. What are their motives? Do you believe (like your candidate Donald Trump) that global warming is a Chinese hoax? That they are building lots of solar panels to fool the world into their AGW conspiracy? Why do you think my theory (that they want to make money) is unrealistic? Please, educate me. - Dan G
  23. All Chinese companies are highly subsidized by their government. That doesn't say anything about the technology. Actually, the fact that the Chinese are trying to corner the market on solar panel production means they think it will be an important technology of the future. If they shared brenthutch's viewpoint, they wouldn't be investing so heavily in the industry. - Dan G
  24. I am?!? That's what you are doing. You're arguing that solar is a bad technology because it isn't currently economically viable. As evidence you point to a bunch of US solar companies that have gotten out of the business or gone bankrupt. I'm trying to point out that just because some companies are having trouble cashing in on solar, it doesn't mean the technology doesn't have merit. Right now, Chinese ones. - Dan G
  25. Are you arguing that because some US solar power companies are not doing well, that solar power is not technologically viable? Did the automobile become technologically unviable when US car companies started losing market share to Japan in the 1970s? - Dan G
