“You say shit like that, and then people will buy into it.”

The attack against Trump was completely warranted. His racist and anti-Muslim rhetoric needed to be countered by someone military supporters would listen to. Unfortunately some people throw their support for the military away when it suits them. Either way, if you were not just as bothered by the Republicans hauling out the mother of the Benghazi victim, then you might be a little partisan. - Dan G -
McCain does the right thing. How about it, McConnell?

I guess I don't see as much shit on the bologna as you do. I don't really like bologna, but I don't think it is terrible. And you're right about the lobster in a way. It sounds great, but when you dig a little deeper all the lobster dishes are batshit crazy and don't have any idea how to run our country. Sorry, I lost the metaphor at the end there. - Dan G -
That reminds me of a joke: 2016: "Donald Trump can't do that as a candidate, can he?" 2017: "President Trump can't do that, can he?" 2018: "Are you watching the Hunger Games tonight? I hope my district wins." - Dan G

If Trump were off the ballot I would vote for a third party. Let me put it this way: I have to eat a meal chosen by a random group of people. There are three things on the menu: a literal shit sandwich, a boring bologna sandwich on Wonderbread, and a lobster feast. I happen to know that most people are going to vote for one variety of sandwich. For hundreds of years, people have voted sandwich. As long as shit sandwich is on the menu, I'm going to do everything to make sure shit sandwich doesn't get chosen. Based on history, that means voting bologna. If shit sandwich is removed from the menu and replaced with dirt sandwich, I would probably go ahead and vote lobster. I can reasonably take the chance on having to eat a dirt sandwich. Ain't no way I want to eat shit. - Dan G -
They are always legal. Until Trump is President, then he will crush any speech he disagrees with. Or just sue everyone. - Dan G

Another example of your liberal desire to pick and choose winners and losers. Sure, an anthrax outbreak due to climate change is bad for reindeer and humans, but it's obviously great for anthrax spores. You alarmists always focus on the downside. - Dan G

Khan Sr. could be a child molester and it wouldn't make Trump right. But I guess if you don't have any defense, go on offense. Standard bully tactics. - Dan G -

Wait, are you implying that you have knowledge of some secret information that will make what Trump has said okay? As a veteran how can you not be disgusted by his attitude? - Dan G -
I like the term "low life". There are no racial undertones, and it describes a lifestyle, not a mode of dress or appearance. - Dan G

Interesting, but it frankly shed little light on how to interpret the clause and its relationship to the functional clause. - Dan G

So if "well regulated" doesn't apply to the arms carried by the citizens' militia, what do you think it applies to? - Dan G
-
Here is what I think his argument is. The 2nd is very poorly written. It is the only Amendment with a non-functional preamble. If you ignore the preamble, the meaning is clear: the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. But the preamble exists, so we can't ignore it. Some have argued that the militia to which the preamble refers is composed of every able-bodied male over the age of 18. They argue that therefore the functional clause applies to everyone. If that is the case we run into a number of problems. What about women? What about elderly or disabled people? And, to normiss's point, what is meant by well regulated? If the preamble applies to all citizens, and all citizens' rights to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, then doesn't the preamble also mean that this militia of all can be regulated? If the functional clause means Congress can't regulate gun ownership, the preamble seems to contradict the functional clause. In short, I think what normiss is trying to say is that Congress should pass more gun control laws to get the citizen militia (all of us) under control. - Dan G

Please stop being intentionally obtuse. It's getting boring. - Dan G

Why do you bother? He'll never believe anything not spoon fed to him by Breitbart, and apparently isn't capable of understanding the simple legal facts of the case. I've given up responding to him completely. Maybe if we all do that he'll go away. - Dan G

What the fuck are you talking about? How can you seriously sit there and say the Russians wouldn't prefer an isolationist, anti-NATO President? You're losing credibility fast with this one. - Dan G
-
Which candidate do you think the Russians would prefer: A) Inexperienced businessman who wants to dismantle NATO, proposes pulling US troops off of forward deployed positions, has repeatedly complimented the Russian dictator, and who has significant personal financial interest in Russia. B) Highly experienced diplomat with a hawkish, pro-Europe reputation who wants to expand US international influence, understands Putin is our adversary, and doesn't have any personal stake in the Russian economy. - Dan G

She's an alternate delegate to the DNC. VERY high up in the party. But they also got the former mayor of Poughkeepsie saying something similar, so it must be true. (For our non-US brothers and sisters, in the US vernacular Poughkeepsie has become synonymous with backwater nowhere, so it's actually pretty funny that all they could get to back up the story was a politician from that particular town) - Dan G -
No. Because they didn't. I know it is truthy, but it is not true. - Dan G

Meeting with Farakhan would not prevent anyone from getting a TS clearance. What else? - Dan G

I always found it odd that "public sector unions" are constantly demonized by people who support police unions. ETA: Except rehmwa. He's cool. - Dan G

I propose zingeriness. It's not actually a zinger, but it feels like a zinger, and that's good enough. - Dan G

Change "liberal" to "conservative" and you're describing the prison industry. Hmm, maybe there's something to this idea that a lot of white people make a lot of money by screwing over brown people. Nah. It is must all be the brown people's fault. - Dan G
