Cops kill another scary looking unarmed black man
DanG replied to gowlerk's topic in Speakers Corner
Here's from the FBI for 2013 (it's the Obama government, so I'm sure the statistics are cooked) Source: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2013/crime-in-the-u.s.-2013/offenses-known-to-law-enforcement/expanded-homicide/expanded_homicide_data_table_6_murder_race_and_sex_of_vicitm_by_race_and_sex_of_offender_2013.xls winsor (and Ron's) belief that blacks are killing whites is completely false. - Dan G -

Got a source for that? Statistics I've seen are the opposite. - Dan G -

I know this is going to totally fuck up your narrative, but you should be looking at poverty instead of skin color. From the Bureau of Justice Statistics: Study here: http://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=pbdetail&iid=5137 - Dan G -

Of course not. But in order to get to the infamous 47% that Romney talked about being "takers" you have to include people who get SS and veteran's benefits. Otherwise the "takers" are a much smaller proportion of the country and not nearly as scary. - Dan G -

I see why you're so scared now. You think that the darn blacks have already managed to kill off over half of the decent white folk in this country. BTW, as a white man if you are murdered it is likely that your murderer will be another white man. Black people kill other black people, white people kill other white people. In general. Statistically you should more afraid of other whites than blacks. But where's the fun in that? - Dan G -
But if they stop airing every "important policy announcement" live in prime time they will be accused of being Clinton's Super PAC. - Dan G

Huh? You said: The government is giving that stuff to murder victims? That makes no sense. Maybe you meant to say that government is giving free stuff to the 13% who commit those murders. In some case, I'm sure that's true. However, most of the those murder are being committed against other members of the 13%, so you have little to fear. To be clear, when Ron says 13%, he means black people. Sure they are. But people who get those benefits are included in the half of Americans right winders complain are sucking at the government teat and not contributing. They are complaining about you. - Dan G -

Or veterans benefits and Social Security. You know you are part of the 52%, right? - Dan G -

Man, you're avoiding Virginia like we got cooties. If you're at all into cars or industrial type stuff, a good rainy day activity in Bowling Green Kentucky is to tour the Corvette plant. You get to walk around on the plant floor while they are putting together the cars. It's pretty high tech and better than most plant tours. - Dan G

S.2848 - Water Resources Development Act of 2016
DanG replied to PhreeZone's topic in Speakers Corner
Why are you against developing water resources? It's right there in the title. Sheesh. - Dan G -
We lost our last dog a couple months ago. I'd been pushing for us to take a year off after she died. My wife doesn't think I'll make it. - Dan G

I'm reasonably certain we are talking past each other. I agree that the NSA and other agencies illegally gathered information on citizens and non-citizens alike. Where we are talking past each other is on whether or not it is possible for the government to gather the same information legally. I argue that it is possible for the government to gather any information on you that they want, if they acquire a judicial warrant to do so. You seem to be arguing that the government thinks it doesn't need a warrant. That may be so, but that's got nothing with whether or not they could get a warrant and acquire the information constitutionally. - Dan G
-
Hardly. NASAs specs are generally SI, but US military specs contain a mix of SI and English. I speak from experience when I say Lockheed makes stuff to English units every single day. The mishap you're referring to was because English and SI units were mixed. That was retarded. But as long as you use the systems consistently there is nothing that makes one inherently less "retarded". - Dan G

Why is the number 0 more relateable than the number 32? They are both just points on the number line. If you want to make a argument for a more logical temperature scale, you should go with Kelvin or Rankine. They both start at zero, but the spacing between whole number degrees after that is arbitrary. - Dan G

The Constitution is pretty clear on what constitutes a legitimate warrant: There is no such thing as a blanket warrant. The Courts (when asked) have been pretty clear on that. You're not complaining about the lack of absolute privacy. You're complaining about warrantless searches. The two issues are not the same. - Dan G
-
If by "personal mail" you mean all unclassified government correspondence, then sure. True. But then why do conservative blame Clinton for believing the same nonsense. Having them in contravention of UN Resolutions is different than having them. But you knew that. - Dan G

Convenient that "consciousness" is also untestable, undefinable, and completely internal. Learning is the opposite of those things. Anyone can claim "consciousness". You have to prove you're learned something to be taken seriously. Finally, to get this thread back toward the original point "consciousness" doesn't help a President figure out what to do in Syria. For that you need learning, logic, and understanding. - Dan G
-
That means if they have a legitimate warrant they can search. Everywhere. There's no clause that says, "except for the one super secret space where even a warrant is no good." - Dan G

Please help me out with your opinions, if you will.

Busch Light!!! Yay!!! - Dan G -
In science, yes. In engineering it's a mixed bag. I understand the reluctance to change. I can rattle off tons of pertinent numbers in English units that relate to my field. I haven't memorized any SI values because I hardly ever use them. - Dan G

Yeah, but we all know what Colin Powell is. Hint: he's not white. I also expect the Trumpsters to start excoriating Powell for his use of a private e-mail server and for lying to the UN about Iraq's WMDs. Loser. Sad. - Dan G
