The FBI Reopens The Criminal Investigation Into Hillary's Private Server!
DanG replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Not that it matters to rushmc, but to the rest of SC, please keep in mind that Sputnik is Russian a state sponsored site. They have already been caught once spreading false stories about Clinton during this campaign. - Dan G -

Skydivers are adults. Adults should be able to hold onto a piece of paper they've spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on. - Dan G -
US Servicemembers do not pay taxes on pay received while in a combat zone either. They pay taxes on regular pay just like everyone else. - Dan G

In DKW's defense, 3k is pack opening altitude, not fully open canopy altitude. That being said, going low for safety is usually a very, very bad idea. Jumping gear with a known issue is also a very, very bad idea. DKW did the right thing when presented with his malfunction, which he should be proud of, but he also should be a little embarrassed that he got himself into that position in the first place. As the old saying goes, superior pilots use their superior judgement to avoid needing their superior skill to stay alive. - Dan G

Your Constitutional amendment would further entrench the two party system. Since you won't give us any specifics on what you want, I'll have to assume it will say something like, "Any election conducted for the purpose of nominating a candidate for President must be held on March 15." That would force 1) any potential third parties to organize in 50 states at the same time, which might be difficult for small parties, 2) the states to incorporate third parties into their primary system, 3) third parties to directly compete with the major parties, and 4) give state legislature indirect power over how any third party has to conduct their nominating process. It's already hard enough for small parties to get any traction. Your Federal solution would make it impossible. - Dan G

I'll give you the cheese, but no crackers. The Wiki article points to a section of the New Hampshire code, not the New Hampshire state constitution. The states are involved, true, but only because the RNC and DNC decided to work that way. Is the Libertarian primary in New Hampshire on the same day as the Democratic and Republican? How about the Green Party, or Communist Party? - Dan G
-
No you didn't. Anyway, if you had said you were only talking about the primary dates it would have saved us all a lot of time. I still don't see how a Constitutional amendment would be written to require private corporations to do something on a specific date. - Dan G
-
Of course it can be done without Federal interference. It could be done by the RNC and DNC with no help from government at all. I seriously fail to understand how a Constitutional amendment would be written. Can you give us an example? I'm not the only one who has no idea what you're trying to say. - Dan G
-
Um, no. There's no way to bring uniformity to the primary process outside of the parties deciding to do it themselves. It is not a government activity. Congress could dictate to the RNC, DNC, and other parties how they run their internal business, but it would almost surely get struck down by the courts. You're just plain wrong about this. - Dan G

Why would a private event held by private corporations require any mention in the US Code at all, especially the Constitution? - Dan G

Oh shit, you're right! Of course, if a plane's color is an indication of the mindset of the occupant, the US give in to the UN many years ago. Hint: what color is Air Force One? - Dan G

She has already unequivocally stated (in the second debate) that she would accept the results and continue to work to better the country. You are reaching, don't sprain anything. - Dan G

Q: How do you tell you're at a party with a new skydiver? A: Don't worry, they'll tell you. Q: How do you know you're at a party with an old skydiver? A: You don't. Eventually you learn to stop talking about skydiving because answering the same five questions over and over gets really annoying. - Dan G

Project Veritas - Part I - DNC Incite Violence
DanG replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Um, yeah. Everyone was aware of this before the Donald Trump sex scandal. It happened quite a while ago. Really? So the US is responsible for Russia invading the Ukraine because we supported regime change in Syria? Makes sense, Comrade. - Dan G -
Trump was unhinged, and never answered a single question. He clearly has severe ADHD because he can't stay on a single topic for a whole sentence. Given multiple chances to elaborate on his positions he dismissed them all and regurgitated the same empty lines. Trump is a buffoon. - Dan G

If asking for a recount in Florida is all Donald is planning, then I have no problem with that. We all know that's not what he's talking about. - Dan G

Can you answer a simple question? Did Russia invade the Ukraine, or did it liberate the oppressed people of Crimea? - Dan G -
I think you meant to say, "Some, of course, still pretend not to understand." - Dan G

This is the first I've heard of this. Do you have a source? Specifically for the claims that 1) law enforcement was instructed to ignore crimes, and 2) that the protesters/rioters were hired guns. - Dan G -
October Presidential Polling: Who are you voting for?
DanG replied to DJL's topic in Speakers Corner
Maybe the Republicans will make the same argument about the President that they're making about the Supreme Court. Namely, that the People should be allowed to choose the next President, and since the People couldn't decide this time around, we'll just wait for the next election. Besides, the Constitution says the House picks the President if the Electoral College can't, but it doesn't say they have any deadline. Think about it. No such thing as a veto. All those pesky government agencies could be shut down. The Congress could run foreign policy like they've always wanted to. The Courts couldn't do anything since the Executive Branch would have to sue, and there won't be an Executive Branch. - Dan G -
Translation: I got nuttin'. When confronted with my severe cognitive dissonance I resort to one-liners, hoping that people will leave me alone. As a side note, I've allowed myself to be so brainwashed by the right-wing media that I can't allow a single positive thought about a non-Republican to enter my bubble. It's amazing what information can be packed into such a short sentence. - Dan G

No, it is not a current statistic, it is fucking incorrect. You're lumping all black people together (13%) and saying that all those people are responsible for the murders that a small numbers of blacks commit. You could equally validly say that 50% of the population (males) commit over 90% of the murders. While true, it implies that you and I are murderers because we are part of that 50%. Your 'statistic' is bullshit. How about this: 0.004% of the population is responsible for 100% of the murders. Of those 0.004% of the population, 53% of them are black. - Dan G
