The first paragraph of your link: What does the security detail being denied the continued use of a DC-3 months before the attack have to do with the timing of Romney's statement? I suspect you will not answer, but wanted to make sure other readers knew you were just conducting link diarrhea. - Dan G

Well, you're here now. Check it out. - Dan G

Have you read the "Christianity and Politics" thread? It's all about you. - Dan G

I wear holey underwear. Is that the same thing? - Dan G

I dispute that the News Hour is commercially viable in its present form. It would end up being like all the other "news" shows, devoting time to the Kardashians and American Idol in order to get up ratings. The good thing about public broadcasting is that they can do the quality programs like the News Hour, and all the news programs on NPR, without pandering to the ratings machine. I think public funding for broadcasting is valuable, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if it went away. We'd just have a couple fewer sources of real information, which nobody appears to care about these day anyhow. - Dan G

No, they obviously don't. The lie you keep telling is that people here support how Islam treats women. - Dan G
-
You keep saying that. Do you think by saying it over and over again it will become true? Didn't Mitt chastise Obama for doing that on Wednesday? - Dan G

Sesame Street is one hour of programming a day. It is the most successful hour of programming on PBS by far. Implying that PBS doesn't need any government help to function because Sesame Street makes money is inaccurate. Most of the government funding goes to help local TV and radio stations afford to operate. The production of content is one expense, but broadcasting that content is a whole nother issue. - Dan G

Thanks. I knew there were some Christians out there who actually believe in Christ's teachings. You better put your flame suit on now, maybe two. - Dan G

Is this your private thread now? I'll call you on your bullshit whenever I feel like it. - Dan G

In case you missed it, you also posted, "Maybe if they gave up on abortion, the Repubs would view that as a sign and give up something in return. That would really set things in motion, don't you think?" If you didn't mean that, then don't write it. And in case you can't understand basic English, my post also said that it'll never happen. - Dan G

Maybe the Republicans should give up on abortion instead? In other words, you go first. See the problem? - Dan G

Paul Ryan confesses that he is, in fact, Batman. - Dan G

I don't even know what post you had a problem with anymore. Actually, you projected that concept onto my statement. Ah, a lesson in humility from someone whose signature line is, "One of the penalties for not taking interest in politics is, that you end up being governed by your inferiors... " - Dan G

You've said in the past that you don't take ideological guidance from anyone (including the person you refer to in your screen name) but find it hard to believe that other people are the same way? That's rich. So what exactly is it that you think I'm copying? - Dan G

I'll take that as a high compliment, since I do, in fact, come up with everything I post on my own. - Dan G

To a certain extent I agree, but I believe there are two competing issues. The economy will not survive a drastic, immediate cut in government spending. We are too dependent on it right now. On the other hand, the debt continues to grow, and will become an increasing problem as servicing it takes more and more resources. What we need is a gradual reduction in spending, paired with a gradual increase in revenue. Neither problem will be fixed by a single administration, which is one reason why we are so screwed. Any gains made by Administration 1 will almost certainly be reversed by Administration 2, regardless of which side is in change of either Administration. - Dan G

You say that like it's a bad thing. - Dan G

Can you summarize? I try not to waste my time with Beck, Matthews, Hannity, Maddow, etc. It's hard to get to the facts when the presenters are so obviously biased. - Dan G
-
Since I'm not a left wing liberal, it was not. I really do wish people on both sides would try to understand the issues more, and regurgitate the radical lies and talking points less. - Dan G

No one "tells" me my politics. I don't watch the commentary shows on either side. I do sometimes catch some right-wing radio, but it only reinforces my belief that the right wing has no plan. My political views are being constantly formed as new issues arise, and as I change as a person. I don't think changing your views is a sign of weakness, as long as that change results from a considered thought process. I used to be a hard core Reagan Republican. Now I'm more centerist, but I've lost faith in the Republican party. I see the Democrats as the current lesser of two evils. That may change again in the future. How's your irony meter looking now? - Dan G

Frankly, it's kind of sad that you get your politics from poorly made PowerPoint posters, but that's your choice. I know you'll never vote for Obama, but at least try to educate yourself on the issues, so if Romney is elected you can follow what he's doing and make sure it's the change you desire. - Dan G

Really? Tell me more. This is the first I heard of this. - Dan G

Oh, why didn't you just say that? I thought you were concerned about the issues. He hasn't stated many specifics, true. He has stated that he wants to repeal the ACA, but keep the popular, expensive parts like pre-existing conditions, and extending coverage for twenty-somethings on their parents' plans. That position makes no sense, and will most certainly lead to either a huge rise in insurance premiums, or rationed care. There's no way around it. He's also laid out a very general plan for cutting tax rates, and paying for it by eliminating deducions. One of the deductions that would have to go for his numbers to come even close is the mortgage interest deduction. Finally, the fact that he wants to reduce Medicare spending is well known. Do you think a reduction in government spending will increase or decrease your individual contributions? He may use his business experience to improve the fortures of large corporations. If you think that will translate into lower insurance premiums, keeping your taxes low, and your Medicare affordable, you haven't thought it through. - Dan G

Do I realize the VA is screwed up? Yep. It's been that way long before Obama came along. He's at least tried to keep VA funding above the political fray. What does that have to do with anything else in this thread? - Dan G
