  3. Thank God someone has developed an app to determine the current weather at their current location. How on Earth could you do that without a fancy smart phone? - Dan G
  4. Welcome to the internet. BTW, I just voted NO in your silly poll. Of course USPA directors should be required to vote by name. Why do you need a poll for that? The only people voting NO are doing it because the poll is dumb. dropzone.com is not USPA. Have you tried putting your comments on the USPA Facebook page, which is actually related to USPA? - Dan G
  5. Well, anyone can request anything. There's a big difference between disclosing CEO pay (which I have no problem with), and disclosing the pay of regular employees. The "Entry-Level Wage Structure" you posted talks in general terms about what a typical employee makes. Try to show up at a Ford plant and ask to see the personell file of Joe Schmoe the riveter and see how far you get. That's what you're asking for, and it's patently ridiculous. - Dan G
  6. Actually, I don't. You're making stuff up. Sure, you can question new hires all you want. That's completely different from having access to the personnel records of staff members. - Dan G
  7. Really? So if I own Ford stock I have the right to know what every guy on the plant floor gets paid in salary and benefits? It doesn't work that way. Nor do I have the right to review the qualifications and salary history (!) of every employee. Get real. - Dan G
  8. Do you realize that most pump action and semi-automatic shotguns hold more than two shells? - Dan G
  9. Fair enough. I can't watch streaming video at work. I was just going off what the OP wrote. - Dan G
  10. While I agree that firing warning shots at every funny noise is idiotic, I don't see where Biden said or implied that he was talking about a double barrel shotgun. - Dan G
  11. From distant memory, the Scout Motto is, "A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent." There's supposed to be twelve. I can't remember the last one, but I'm pretty sure it's not, "into chicks." What part of the scout motto do gays universally not value? - Dan G
  12. I did. She did just fine. - Dan G
  13. Unlikely, unless everyone was armed, and everyone rose up together. There was never any realistic chance that the Japanese were going to invade the continental US, and it wasn't because of Grandpa's hunting rifle. - Dan G
  14. Nice video. I wish I had more time to search for the whole statement. I think it is telling that the video stops at the last word of the inflammatory part, when his cadence clearly indicates that the sentence is not finished. And yes, I largely believe the "global warming lie" assumng by that phrase you mean that the Earth's climate is rapidly changing and man's actions are a significant contributor. - Dan G
  15. If the purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to keep government power in check by a citizenry that can fight back, then cannons, tanks, and indeed nuclear bombs should be legal. You can't fight back against a government with small arms, at least not effectively. On the other hand, if the purpose was to allow individual citizens to defend themselves, then limiting the right to small arms seems correct. You can't argue that the 2nd is designed to keep the government in check and simultaneously support restricting the permitted arms to pistols and rifles. Those arguments are not consistent. - Dan G
  16. Huh? You have a video where Obama says he wants electricity prices to go up, and he doesn't say why? I'd love to see that. - Dan G
  17. Why do you think Obama wants electricity prices to rise? Please don't just say "power" or "control", as that makes no sense. - Dan G
  18. Where does your article say anything about Obama overruling the 2nd Amerdment? I'll answer for you: nowhere. I'm in favor of gun rights, but the country needs to have a conversation. Assigning motives and intent to people without any evidence is not a good way to have a conversation. Threatening armed resistance to a strawman is even less productive. - Dan G
  19. I quit just because I was done with it. Being one-armed had nothing to do with it. Wanted to do other stuff. Do you ever use a prosthetic? - Dan G
  20. I understand you are an above the elbow. Do you use a prosthetic at all? It would certainly help. I think it is possible you to to learn to skydive, but it will be harder than for most people. Starting with wind tunnel work and tandems is definitely a good idea. It might even be a good idea to go out to your local DZ and do a tandem if you haven't yet. Getting to know the people there will make it easier for them to be open to possibilities, and harder for them to dismis you out of hand (no pun intended). I became a right arm BE amputee in 2005 and went on to make about 500 jumps before I quit. My situation was quite different because I had about 1400 jumps when I lost my arm. I always used a prosthetic, and still have my elbow, so it was easier still. - Dan G
  21. We have seen the enemy, and he is us. - Dan G
  22. Don't kid yourself that character assassination is only a tool of the left. Both sides do the same dirty tricks. - Dan G
  23. No. I think it highly unlikely, in fact. I don't think he would lie on purpose, but that doesn't mean that everything he said was correct. It is also possible that you misinterpreted what he did say. I could certainly see him saying that IED injuries are more prevalent than gnshot wounds in present conflicts. Extrapolating that the reason for that was because the insurgents can't shoot is unwarranted. - Dan G
  24. Actually there's one prominent poster here who agrees with everything the WBC preaches, he just disagrees with their methods. Ironically, he also touts his membership in the PGR. - Dan G
  25. If situational awareness and good decision making are not part of your defensive strategy, you're doing it wrong. A white dude walking through Compton with a sign that says blacks suck is, in fact, partly to blame for the caps popped in his ass. That doesn't make said cap popping right, but you certainly can't say it wasn't expected. - Dan G
