QuoteQuoteWTF was he thinking? In fairness I was not there but if this was just a standard robbery why not give the guy what he wants and keep him happy? Thats why you have insurance. It looks like he endangered several other people (including a baby) just to be a hero. If I was in the store I would have been more pissed at him than the robber. Unless the robber clearly stated an intent to kill the people anyway, that guy acted reclessly. Quote If the robber had a weapon the threat was already given*** But if the guy only wanted the money was it worth risking the lives of the other people in the store if he could have just cooperated with the guy. They have insurance. That woman and her baby were very close to the line of fire. Was the cash in the till worth risking the baby's life over a misplaced sense of machismo? That sucks. Why the hell does it take so long? Why can't you just boot them out on their asses? Is this another legel issue of "dirbags rights are more important than peoples rights"? There was a professor that I worked for who had a newborn baby ( she had given birth a few weeks prior). For whatever reason she felt compelled to give me advice in case me and my wife had a baby. She described many details I had no interest in envisioning. She then proceeded to describe how she elected to let herself tear naturally rather than have an incision done (I am not making this up). I just about hit the fucking floor. Not only had I never heard about women getting cut by the doctor to ease birth , I was fucking horrified that my own professor felt I was OK with hearing this. Some people are just way too comfortable talking about certain things, and share way too much info! But I guess they would settle for a man who cheat on his spouse? Aparently. Yeah I know it seems kind of pathetic. I cannot fathom why someone would cheat on their spouse. I could never imagine being with someone other than my wife, but there are some people who are into that. When I was about 13/14 I was having an argument with my mother and it got pretty loud. Anyway at one point while flying off at me she without thinking yelled "You son-of-a-bitch". My smirk caught her off gaurd and when she realized what she had just said (called herself ) she found it quite funny and it seemed to break the argument. Some women may find an attached guy attractive because they know for a fact that there will be no strings attached. Also many like the challenge of getting someone who is theoretically "off the market". When I was younger and went out to clubs I found that if I was merely with freinds I didn't get paid significant attention by the opposite sex (I am an average guy with no particularly hot features), yet if I went with a girlfreind other women would hit on me. Even now, sometimes when me and my wife go out to a bar, women who otherwise wouldn't notice me have hit on me quite blatantly in front of her (and we don't go out to trashy places). Based on that I can see the reasoning behind the wedding band theory. That is a pretty nasty t-shirt. I can't see how it would be acceptable to let the student wear it. May a student wear a t-shirt saying "I love Jesus," or will this make Jews, Muslims and Druids feel it's an attack on their religions? May a student wear a t-shirt saying "Proud to be a Turk," or will this cause bad vibrations for the Greeks and Armenians in the school? Is the anti-gay shirt harmful? If so, every harm has a remedy. Sue the person who has harmed you. Your boss filling the air with racial epithets and expletives that make your work environment hostile? Should we ban the speech? Or, should we just hit him in the wallet hard enough that he or anyone else will know better in the future? Banning any speech of any kind, especially via judicial operation, poses too significant a danger, and is a slippery slope we've started down. IF we don't get a grip now, we may end up sliding off the cliff*** We can apply slippery slope to any debate though. Any good idea can be deemed bad because of the slippery slope that it could lead to. The school needs to try to the best of it's ability to provide a supportive non-hostile learning environment. Wile there will always be people who get offended at certain ideas, overt attacks on people have no place in a school. I personally could never enjoy shooting an animal, however it is not my place to impose my values on others. So long as hunters are eating the meat and not just killing for fun then I am fine with it. Yes. Every time I jump I simply must deploy my pilot chute (at about 2500). I am plagued by the nagging superstition that if I don't, something terrible might happen to me. So true. I really wish people who have never been in a bad scenario would realize that regardless of how much wisdom a person has, he/she will make numerous dumb mistakes in his/her life. Often the dividing line between smart and dumb people is whether or not they were unfortunate enough to pay the price for their errors. Do you intend to elaborate or are you just interested in being a sarcastic troll. I have never felt the need to insult anyone on this sight for their views so I do not understand why people like you do. Do not bother responding to this unless you are prepared to grow up and post like an adult. Richards your post clearly shows you have no clue how the training plans, courses and materials ARE developed, and no i'm not going to bother to educate you. Get a job working for/with TRADOC for a few years before you make such absurd statements. But perhaps illustrating your ignorance on the subject IS your intent? edit one example: if i spin around i can see the combined military experience of some 800 years all working on updateding A SINGLE MOS's training.. guess what? not a single social worker involved anywhere... but ALOT of retired/former CSMs, Warrants and Field grade officers... *** My comment was based on my experiences at the RCR Battleschool in Petawawa, and at the RCA Battleschool in Shilo. We saw over the years that our military in Canada was suffering from too much interference that was not perceived to be in the best interest of the forces. Many of the changes being made appeared to be made in the interest of soothing lobby groups and left wing media who seemed to cry about any appearance of unkindness in recruit training. Recruits who normally would not have made it through the system suddenly started to, and physical standards plummetted. Whether or not "social workers" were the ones implementing the changes is irrelivant. The changes appeared to be made in the interest of public relations "Look how nice and accepting and wonderfull, our forces are" rather than on any sound logic. The point I was making was that we saw changes that were not being made in the interest of the forces, but in the interest of presenting a softer image. Our system is somewhat different from yours so we may be debating apples and oranges. Either way I have no interest in online screaming matches, so if you wish to fire off another PA I will not bother responding. He was the most villainous character in Scarface? I might have picked Sosa (hangs Tony's associate while casually talking to him and saying " Ill only tell you once....Don't you ever try to fuck me", and then sends a hit squad after Tony for not following orders. For that matter Tony himself (granted a tragic villain). When his boss (Mr. Lopez) is on his kness begging for his life and Tony says "I aint gonna kill you", and waits for the guy to start thanking him profusely before saying "Manolo...Shoot that peice of shit" that was fucking cold. I would always advocate using common sense to avoid trouble (it works 99% of the time) but I must admit that if a few thugs were following me late at night and sizing me up I would feel a lot more comfortable having the means to gain the upper hand if they turned out to be part of the other 1 %. I have to admit, that I might react the wrong way if it appeared right in front of me like that. Good advice however if I should ever find myself in that situation. Ok. That would be a bit much for me. I would have soiled myself. Everyone keeps saying rattler meat is good. Are there any specialty food places anyone knows of in toronto that sell it? I suspect I will have to wait untill I get down south before I can try it.
