Full text letter of Iranian President to American President
Richards replied to vortexring's topic in Speakers Corner
I hardly think the government holds the moral high ground neccessary to lecture anyone on ethics or human rights. Complaining about Guantanamo...this is the same government whos thugs beat an Iranian-Canadian reporter to death because she took pictures of a prison. A country that has declared it's intention to "wipe Isreal off the map" is lecturing on foreign policy ethics? Why? I am not American and yet most Americans I have met were genuinely nice people. I think most people who have a dislike for their foreign policy tend to attribute that to every American. Whenever I have visited the US I found that they did not support the stereotype that I was expecting based on all the propaganda. I often found that they were quite objective about their foreign policy (some agreed, some disagreed), and very reasonable. Maybe I have just been lucky but most of the ones I met seemed to be very kind people. Have you had experiences that would suggest otherwise (personal experience, not just what you hear in the news)? Given all the rampant anti-US sentiment that seems to be everywhere in the media, it is nice to see someone say something positive about them for a change. I am not trying to flag-wave but I do think that the US seems to always be the whipping boy. I am not suggesting that the US is perfect, however I do think the average American really means well when it comes to the rest of the world yet they always seem to be on everyones shitlist. Nice to see them get some positive recognition. Pretty much every religion does this in some way. Jewish writings say they are the chosen people, Christian writings say the only way to salvation is through Christ (becoming a christian), Islamic writings say that infidels will not enter paradise....etc. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Rather disturbing little article. Curious to see how the international community will respond to this. I am not up to date on current events in Iran (except for that nuclear thing). Will the UN condemn this with the same zeal that they have condemmed Isreal for it's security wall? Is Irans leadership smoking crack? Curious to hear everyones input. It depends where you met me. If you met me at work you would find I am much different than who I am on this sight. If you met me at a dropzone you would likely see the same person you see on this sight. That is sick. I am all for discipline and I have no problem with corporal punishment for adults (or young adults), but the sick bastards that would do that to a child deserve the most horrible punishment imaginable. I would just love to have the opportunity to get the adults who did that to the poor kid and torture them to death. Sick. Illinois' "Let them rest in peace act" signed into law.
Richards replied to briguy's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it's a stretch to refer to this as simply being a freedom of speach issue. The other issue is one of allowing people to greive at the time of a loved ones passing. Slippery slope arguments about what a law could lead to can be applied to anything. If taken to extremes freedom of speech can allow me to >Share insider information with an institutional investor > make racist remarks to an visible minority co-worker >etc I am not schooled in the law, and won't pretend to know the specifics, but I don't think you need to be a lawyer or law student to recognize that sometimes basic human decency does require that we place restrictions on the behaviour of certain people. Doing what they are doing at funerals is unneccessarily cruel. If their viewpoint has any substance then they can acheive their goals by protesting at government buildings. Hey. If they really have absolutely nothing better to do with their time than listen to my phone calls then they can go ahead. Their man hours down the drain. I love dogs. Thats why I find it funny. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Fair enough. I can't post something like that and then whine when people offer a fair opinion of me. Dude, it is funny. No need to feel bad I was dying with laughter when I saw it. Everyone in the room was horrified that I found it funny. The worse part was when they were getting mad at me for laughing I couldn't help but laugh harder. I have had this since I was a child, and was even on prescription meds. I realize that there is no guaranteed fix. That said what worked best for me was to stop doing any work about one hour before bed (deadlines permitting) and pursue some recretional reading (TV overstimulates) and just relax. You also need to have a set routine (eat same time exercise same time, go to bed same time..etc). Again not a guarantee but it is the best solution so far. Fair enough. I can't post something like that and then whine when people offer a fair opinion of me. For the record I would find it horrific if I thought someone had done it deliberately, however it looked like an innocent accident. Nonetheless, I do feel bad for finding it funny. Should school kids be allowed to have cell phones in school?
Richards replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
That may have been the case when you were a student but todays parents will get pissed off at the teacher and complain about him/her until the Dean/Principle tells the instructor that he or she cannot do that. Richards replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
No, they will simply complain that you are "violating their rights" by taking their personal property, and someone in the system will agree with them and tell you that you cannot touch student property. Then the students will use them deliberately to piss you off because "they know their rights". With silent ringing and text messaging this is a must. Richards replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree with the sentiment but unfortunately that sort of thing is almost unenforcable these days. Try to take a cell-phone from a student today. They will refuse to give it up. If you ask them to leave they will put in a complaint, and administration will "request" that you take a more moderate aproach to enforcement. Subsequently the student will win this battle. They can play dumb "I thought I turned it off" and you cannot prove they didn't and therefore you will be forced to give them 8 million second chances and eventually give up trying. It has gotten to the point where many people have given up and try to continue lecturing while a student actually holds a conversation. Richards replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
That is fine in theory but how do you make them switch them off. I know from countless personal experiences that you can request it until you are blue in the face yet you will still hear cellphones going off endlessly. If they allow for an instructor to remove a student from the class if his/her cellphone goes off in class then fine, but there is no "or else" with any real teeth when it comes to demanding that they make the effort to turn it off, then you may as well not waste the effort asking them to do so. Students do not require a cellphone. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -
Thought I would post this boys and girls http://stupidvideos.com/video/animals/Cat_Fan/?c=&p=5&y=0. I am sorry if I seem like a jerk for finding this funny. Or at the very least tell him that it is fucking sick to have intercourse with an eleven year old child. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Who will post my bail if I personally stop a protest?
Richards replied to steveorino's topic in Speakers Corner
I would really hate to see a decent fellow like yourself get a criminal record over fuckbags like them. As gratifying as it would be to see one of these fuckmonkey protestors picking his teeth off of the ground (or gasping/choking from a sucking chest wound), I think it would be a shame to see them get money from you out of a lawsuit. I do appreciate your sentiment however. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -

When I was single I seemed to always be dating women older than myself, which was odd because most women mature faster than guys and I was somewhat young for my age when I was in my 20's. It's not that I had some weird cougar fetish, it just worked out that the women I ended up with were older.
