I have always disagreed with that argument. I think people notice it more when someone who is outspoken against something turns out to be knee deep in it, but I do not think there is a real correlation. Some may use it as compensation for hidden urges but I am sure that many are truly just straight homophobics. Granted our right wing televangelists have sex scandals but so do democrat presidents. Lots of live bands. Go to Pioneer Square. You pay one cover charge and get hand stamp is good for all the clubs, as opposed to paying a seperate cover at each and every place. I certainly don't suggest that multiculturalists condone this particular act. I have noticed that whenever there is a clash between our laws and someone elses culture that multiculturalists start in with all kinds of objections pertaining to cultural hedgemony and sideways philisophical questions to the effect of "By whos definition is this wrong? A north American definition of right and wrong?". And then the barroom lawyers start quoting the Charter/Constitution and argue that since we allow one right to be extended to one group we are practiing discrimination by not allowing this group to carry out thier cultural practices ..etc. This sort of thing has left me somewhat cynical towards multiculturalists. I have actually recently had people tell me that this guy should not be imprisoned because he does not know any better and that I am imposing my western values on this guy. The problem we have today is that multiculturalists will argue that he should be free to exercise his cultural/religious rights even though they are against the law here. Others have argued that we cannot hold guys like this fully accountable because apparently they do not know any better. Considering that, should we not require that people who immigrate from countries like that sign a disclaimer, stating that they realise that it is illegal here and that they can be prosecuted for it before we let them in? Failing to do that allows them to claim ignorance and have bands of multiculturalists lining up to defend them. Terrible reason to surgically alter a baby. I still say however, that you cannot compare male circumcision to the horrific trauma and injury of female genital mutilation. As a matter of fact yes it did. I happen to disagree with doing it however. That said I imagin that lack of forskin probably has less impact on my ability to enjoy sex than lack of a clitoris. We also have doctors do it using proper medical techniques, anasthetic and disinfectant. No-one gets held down to be mutilated with scissors as they shriek in agony. I also imagine that there are probably more nerve endings in a clitoris thus making it a more painful procedure. Good. We need less children. Just kidding. *** Thats just cold But seriously. I am not trying to put down the mans culture and I am aware that we are appparently "multicultural" but I think there has to be limits. I cannot see how we can allow a man to pin down a screaming infant and mutilate her without anasthetic, damaging her for life just because he's allowed to do that where he comes from. Where is the line drawn? Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Am I being a big fucking wimp or is this make you cringe also? http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/10/27/female.circumcision.ap/index.html (sorry the URL/Clicky thing isn't cooperating) This is being done on our side of the puddle now? The courts should make a very clear example of this guy. Keep certain practices in your own country. Dickhead joins the forces but refuses to pledge alliegance
Richards replied to Richards's topic in Speakers Corner
Not throwing poop at him. As a matter of fact I can appreciate that many people would like to abolish our ties with the monarchy. At the time however our forces do honour the monarchy and he should not have joined if he had such strenuous objections. It is not the place of military leaders to argue who we should and should not serve. That is to be left to civilian leadership. As a serving member he serves who we happen to have as our leadership or even figureheads. If this is of such importance to him why does he not resign his commision and get into politics. Was he not aware when he moved to Canada that we still had the queen as a figurehead? Did he expect that upon moving to Canada we would change Canada to suit him? It is not his opinions I disagree with. It is his choice of trying to implement such opinions into policy while being an officer. He should have said that on day one in the recruiters office. He chose to reap the benefits of serving under an oath he did not beleive in and lied about, then once he got what he needed out of the system and built up his confidence he turned around and said "my personal needs come first". Why did he accept all the benefits of being a "servant to the queen " if he had such strenuous objections. Not sure about the legal stuff but no we are not a colony. Again I am fine with the idea of Canadians deciding for themselves that as a country they do not wish to remain a commonwealth nation. But some guy from outside coming here and joining up knowing that he has agreed to serve the queen (part of the oath when you join up) and turning around after the fact and protesting it is out of line. He should have mentioned his objections to her on day one in the recruiters office. Precisely. Liberals are open about being soft on crime and they were the ones that pushed to give prisoners the right to vote. The Fiberal party well sell Canada for a few glass beads if it will get them a few more votes. As a member of the forces he is supposed to be apolytical. If he feels a desire to change what Canada means and stands for he should resign and get involved with politics. Military leaders in particular should not be making public statements about who we should or should not be pledging alleigance to. If he feels that strongly about it he should demonstrate some character and integrity by stepping down and seeking a life in politics. Again that is a matter for Canadians to decide and perhaps put to a vote. If this guy from Ireland/Scotland has an issue because of a greivance that goes way the hell back to before the discovery of America then maybe he should have thought of that before he signed up, took the feed and education. I suspect that if Canadians switch allegiances to specific leafs it most likely will be the Canabis leaf. That is a fair sentiment, but perhaps one that should be put to a vote. My issue is not one of pro-monarchy vs anti-monarchy. Its about people like him who have an issue with it, decide to join anyways and get the benefits and then at a time of his convenience decide that the system should change because it does not suit him. He made a choice to sign up while knowing that the forces pledged allegiance to the Queen and now that he has got what he can out of the system he suddenly has a problem with the system. I am not a monarchist myself but I do have a problem with people who come to our institutions (RCMP. Military...etc) and expect the system to change to tailor to thier specific whims. ***Officer wages war against allegiance to Queen Glen McGregor CanWestNews Service Tuesday, October 24, 2006 CREDIT: Getty Images Queen Elizabeth II. CREDIT: DND Aralt Mac Giolla Chainnigh. OTTAWA - An Canadian Forces officer is suing Canada's top soldier over a ''degrading'' policy that requires members of the military to toast the Queen and salute during the anthem, God the Save the Queen. Capt. Aralt Mac Giolla Chainnigh, an associate professor of physics at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont., wants a court to overturn the requirement for Forces members to publicly display their loyalty to the British monarchy.......... read the rest of the story here; http://www.canada.com/globaltv/regina/news/story.html?id=6bf06735-7f2c-4de2-a471-9c58197cc821&k=79047 *** Am I being harsh or is this guy being the dickhead I think he is? It is not like he was forced to join (and benefit from free education). Our system is based on the UK military and subsequently honours the queen. If someone does not agree with that they are free not to join. The loser should be stripped of his commission. Curious to see any other perspectives. In fairness Fox may have just wanted to show what the symptoms of the disease are. When you think about it, medicating yourself regularly with all the side effects (and most sorts of meds do have serious negative side effects) to simply be able to move around without twitching and spasming is not a good way to live your life. In effect he is appealing to look for a cure rather than force someone to medicate as an alternative to being unable to function. I am very right wing but Limbaughs comments were out of line. Why would he not wish to show people the severity of his condition if it might motivate people to look at stem cell research with an open mind. It is the same with diabetics who do not wish to have to inject themselves with insuline everyday if there is a possible cure. If someone is against stem cell research for thier own reasons, then that is their right but there is no need to mock someone who is trying to appeal towards possibly finding a cure for something that is ruining his life. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/lawenforcement/policeintegrity/chapter1.htm ***Law enforcement officers are authorized to use deadly force only when it is reasonable and necessary to protect the officer or others from an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or another person Well I suppose they could use the 12 guage loaded with birdshot or an appropriate small shot. It would take him down without killing him (unless it was real close). Why should they risk ambush by chasing him into the desert if they can just take him down (provided they give him a warning). Choice and consequence. If he does not want a doctor picking buckshot out of his ass then he should stop running when told to do so. These smugglers can get quite violent when pursued so why should the border patrol risk it? No problem with them shooting him in the back. If you are running from the cops when you know they will shoot at you then you have only yourself to blame. Covering it up did however cross the line. First, story...he was minding his own business and it leapt out of the water and attacked him. Now that has changed to ...It leapt into the boat (can stingrays jump?) and he tried to throw it back in and got stung. Reminds me of the inebriated males in thier 20's who claimed to be walking along minding thier own business when suddenly a rattlesnake defied it's physical limmitations and leapt up biting them on the forearm. Fuck with nature and it is quite capable of fucking you up.
