  1. I guess it is so depressing to routinely read about this sort of thing that there is an outlet effect to venting ones dismay at it, particularly since the rage one feels at reading such a thing is somewhat impotent. I can see however why they do tend to get repetitive I suppose. I personally find myself getting a bit to wound up when I hear about such acts of cruelty or even general meanness. 2. Hey, don't feel to bad. I wasn't that good even when I was boxing (or at least trying to box). I like to put a positive spin on it though, so lets just say that every time I stepped in to the ring to spar I managed to make second place. 3. Unfortunately, being treated like a human being despite differences is not a function of intrinsic human kindness....it is dependant on whether or not your difference qualifies you as a member of a special interest group. Hey who knows, maybe if political correctness required people to treat outcasts/dorks/geeks/losers with the same consideration as niggers/chinks/faggots..etc then the whole Columbine shooting might never have happened. But losers don't have a lobby so people can fuck with them just like "retards" This kid is a good person. *** Then it is a tragedy that someone treated him in such a shitty manner. Hopefully his experiences with his fellow human will improve. When you see someone doing something like that, do not simply take the time to explain the wrongness of their actions. Put them in their place publicly in an abrupt humiliating manner because that is the only way of getting through to people like that. 4. I don't remember that one, but somehow it does not surprise me. It seems reflective of our societies standards as a whole though. For example when i was younger everyone washed thier hands after going to the bathroom, yet these days, I notice in public bathrooms quite a few do not bother to wash their hands, and a large majority of those who do bother to simply give them a quick rinse instead of the proper soap and hot water. Again I do not want to come across as a germ-o-phobe but human standards seem to have dropped. Maybe this needs to be taught at the kindergarten level (since parents do not seem to be instilling basic hygeine in their kids). 5. I hadn't thought of it that way. One more thing for me to obsess about. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  6. You were probably motivated by the right reasons to avoid fast food (cholesterol, saturated fat, msg..etc). Shame I had to be grossed out before I would change my eating habits. 7. True, Subway is not that bad. I have never seen any deliberately maliscious acts. I just think most people there are oblivious to hygenic handling standards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  8. I have noticed a disturbing trend and wanted to get other perspectives on this. It has been my observation that food handling standards in the fast food industry have gone to dogshit. I recall in the early 1980's due to some bad press, fast food places were obsessed with their employees hygenic habits when handling food (at least in front of customers). Nowadays, sadly this has changed. I have lost track of how many times I have seen fast food servers, coughing/sneezing and then handling food without washing their hands, licking their fingers while handling food, picking stuff of the floor and then handling food without washing their hands, even picking their nose (in most cases just a rim sweep not a full nasal plunge but i have seen that happen too). Has anyone else noticed this or am I going paranoid? I do not consider myself a germ-o phobe but I find that this is freaking me out. I have on occasion walked out before ordering because I saw my server doing something that made me feel uncomfortable about him/her handling my food. I do not like going into fast food places anymore at all (this is probably a good thing as now I always pack my lunch). Am I the only one that has noticed this? Am I paranoid? Raw Eggs

It probably is perfectly fine. At this stage in my life i have grown up culturally on cooked meat (although I do like rare meat), so I will not likely get comfortable with raw meat, but yeah other cultures do just fine on it. As you pointed out our culture has become a bit squeamish about things that are harmless. Raw Eggs

As per my response to Narcimund, I had presumed up till now that it was passed through the bloodstream to the egg. I was not aware that it was a function of the processing. Anyway, thanks for the insight. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

    Raw Eggs

Gracias. It always baffled me. I presumed that the salmonella was in the chickens bloodstream and presumed it would be passed on to the feotus/egg from the mother, so the raw egg thing always freaked me out. I still probably won't eat them though, but thanks for taking the time to explain it. Raw Eggs

I don't get why people can eat raw eggs yet we cannot eat chicken that is undercooked. This has bugged me for a long time. Please enlighten. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  13. Sorry to hear that. Getting good and drunk may be required at this time. Surround yourself with freinds and support network at the dropzone (or with family) Hoping things get better for you. 14. Seems to be an unpopular truth, but you hit the nail right on the head. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  15. Oops. Must have missed it. Either way, I guess it's about time I refresh. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  16. I'm surprised then that there appears to have been no public awareness campaign. Given the amount of people who qualify each year you would think there would be some kind of public service announcement telling people with basic and/or outdated first aid training that standards have changed My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  17. I'll have to take your word on it. Other than basic first aid, I do not have any medical knowledge. It was an eye catcher of an article though. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  18. What can I say. I was blindly unaware of that. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  20. http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2007/03/15/cpr-breaths.html Sounds odd but what do I know. I can't get past the idea of pumping the heart without also also giving breaths. Any med types heard of this study? I would be curious to see what someone in the know thinks of this. 21. I would choose plan 1. I realize there are stats from both sides of this argument that "prove" the other side wrong, so I have to go with my gut feel on this, and be given the option to be able to defend myself. Handguns are tremendously difficult to get legally here in Canada yet gangs still seem to be able to arm themselves quite adequately. Do you have a strong preference between 1 or 2? 22. I agree. It is a needlessly cruel sport. Good to see the poor bull get some payback. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  23. So sorry for your loss. Regarding the lawsuit, I am not going to get into the right or wrong of it, but I do feel that it will drag this painfull ordeal out for you instead of allowing you to greive and then accept. For your own sake, move on and put this energy into caring for a new dog when you are emotionally ready to do so.
