SniperCJ said: Some people collect stamps. I collect guns and knives. Keith replied: Yes, guns can be and are an investment. I was watching the Antiques Road Show on PBS the other day. One gun, an older riffle IIRC, was worth some estimated 35,000 bucks. The problem is that some dolt who breaks in to a house and steals a gun isn't looking for an investment; they're thinking "WooHoo I just found a gun that can't be traced back to me"; some poor hapless kid waiving his dads gun around in front of his friend isn't thinking "Lookie here dude, what a great investment" as he accidentally blows a hole in his friend. All's I'm sayin' is hold gun owners responsible when they don't properly store their guns, that's all. Keith
  3. Lisa grumbled: I have to take offense with my name being only third on the list... I worked so hard at it when I was younger... Keith replied: Lisa, don't be such a quitter. It's never too late to strive for #1 :) Keith

AggieDave said: I've had 4 years of Tae Kwon Do plus I'm a fairly good sized guy, but that didn't stop someone from pulling a gun on me 5 years ago, now did it? Keith Replied: Dave, that wasn't the scenario I responded to. Look, I'm not opposed to people having guns per se. I'm against people thinking everyone should have every conceivable automatic weapon for "hunting". People run around saying owning a gun is a constitutional right. Perhaps, but the original idea was for the states to arm themselves against the threat of a tyrannical government. I know everyone is screaming no more legislation, however, if we passed a nation wide law that said a gun owner is responsible for his/her gun(s) and any crime committed with said gun(s) whether or not that person was involved in or had any knowledge of the crime, and that the gun owner would face the same sentence as the the person using the gun(s) in a crime, If we passed that law, I would say knock yourself out; go buy any and all the guns you want. Because the truth of the matter is that the majority of crimes in the US are committed with stolen weapons. Keith
  5. Of course not :) I was just flatterd that she felt she could share with me :) Keith

Wildblue said: Let's say your girlfriend gets attacked, with the guy intent on raping/robbing/killing her. Neither of them have a gun. What do you really think is going to happen? Now give her a gun - I'm not even saying she's going to use it and kill the guy, but he's not risking his life for a few bucks or to do what he wants to do with her. Keith replied: How about giving her martial arts training. My Mom is a small woman, 5'2" ~105 lbs. She beat the crap out of a much larger guy who tried to jump her. She, however, had neither a gun nor martial arts trainting, just a hell of a lot of guts. Keith
  7. I used to work with a woman who, after her divorce, went out and got herself a brand-spankin'-new pair of implants. She used to walk past me and flash me all the time. She was quite a character. Keith

  11. 20. If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? 'Cause if love weren't blind the lingerie industry would go out of business, according to recent obesity statistics anyway :) Keith
  12. 1) What is the lowest you have intentionally exited an aircraft (i.e. no emergency, fallout etc)? 1800 ft 2) What is the lowest you have gone WayLow intentionally (i.e. no loss of altitude awareness) ? 2000 ft . . . not way low but low enough. 3) What is the most stupid/dangerous thing you have done in freefall? Doing an 1800 ft hop-n-pop on a brand new rig I was working the kinks out of. 4) What is the closest you have come to killing yourself? I had a pilot chute in tow on previously mentioned hop-n-pop. After pulling nothing happened. I gave a couple of seconds, still nothing. I looked over my shoulder to see where my pilot chute was to find I was trailing it, deflated, behind me (I have a bungee collapsible for those thinking I for got to cock it :)) Knowing I couldn't just cut it away for fear it would entangle with my reserve, I grabbed the bridle and yanked it, pulling the pin. When I yanked the bridle I went unstable and rolled on my back. My main deployed through my legs . . . luckily I felt it coming and spread my legs hoping it would deploy cleanly. I was under a fully functional main around 800 ft. 5) What gives you the biggest kick? A big ass grin from a friend across a formation. 6) How many times have you been grounded? 0 7) How long is the longest grounding 8) What do you get grounded for? 9) Any other comments………………….. I'd rather live to jump another day then to take unnecessary risks. Keith
  13. Keith, I don't think I will have a problem getting back on the 5th and would appreciate the ride, assuming Jeanie doesn't REALLY want to come get me. As previously stated, I arrive at 8pm on Saturday the 27th. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chuck: Bad news. I just found out I have to go out of town on business the weekend of the 27th. Sorry! Keith
  14. SpeedRacer was: -wishing I wasn't at work so I could get a beer, Keith said: I'm leaving at 2:30 to pick up my rig from my rigger so I can go to the chicks rock boogie this weekend. Then, I'm makin' a B line for a cold frosty one, or two. I'll tip one for ya SpeedRacer. Keith
  15. Happy 22nd Joe. OK everybody, sacrafice a beer tonight to the skydive gods so Joe will have blue skies and soft winds on Sunday. Keith
  16. Chuck: Just let me know the flight info and I'll be there. Keith
  17. viking said: yep she is 91 years young and still kickin, and my grandpa turns 99 in about two months!! and i live with and take care of them too. Keith responded: Way cool viking. Spend as much time with them as you can. I used to take my Grandfather to a movie and dinner every Sunday until he died. Interestingly enough, I didn't cry when he died. I guess it's because I got the chance to say everything to him while he was still alive. Keith
  18. FallingMarc said: So what you're saying is that those crimes are worse than any other acts of senseless murder? If those two people had been heterosexual white males, and the same thing had happened to them, it would have been less of a crime? It's somehow less evil to kill a white man than a black man? For ANY reason? How is that not, using your words, ignorant? Keith responded: Because had they been heterosexual white males they wouldn't be dead. Keith
  19. jkm2500 said: . . .or other wise stupid, or "ignorant" Keith responded: Ignorant does not mean stupid. It means not knowing. There is a difference. It also doesn't mean that someone isn't entitled to their own opinion. I beleive even the KKK has the right to spout their trash. Ignorant, in this case, means that while someone is exercising their constitutional right to express their opinion, they are doing so without knowing all the facts. Keith
  20. apoil said: Murder is illegal. If you are convicted, and you committed murder in a particularly vile and reprehensible way (which the above scenario most certainly is) then the judge will take that into account during sentencing. There's no need to create additional laws, because as Nuge said (and I don't agree with him on all his points) it goes against "equal protection of the law" The law always takes intent in to account when analyzing the severity of a crime. What were talking about here are people who are targeted *because* of who they are, not because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. 99.99% of the time white men aren't *targeted* because they are white. When white men do get the bajeezus beeaten out of us it's because the minority group is retaliating for an injustice. Take Reginald Denny, as mentioned earlier. He was beaten because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. A riot broke out after several cops were aquitted of senslessly beating Rodney King after a routine traffic stop. These cops should have been locked up. The whole thing was on video. They were guilty as hell and the system failed. *That* is why we have hate crime legislation. So the problem with the above unfortunate, despicable incidents perpetrated by the lowest of human slime is not that there aren't laws against hate crimes, but that the existing laws against violence and murder are not being enforced equitably. Again the system fails and that is why we have hate crime ligislation. The fact that you don't get it is encouraging, it shows that we are headed toward a more eqitable society. Keith

  24. Chuck, if you can't find someone to give you a ride let me know. I live about 10 minutes from the Lindberg Field and could give you a ride to Perris, I just can't give you a ride back. Keith
