According to some people, anyone who made claims based on this bad information, should be considered a liar... plain and simple.

"It's not fair to the troops to second guess (the war)"
NCclimber replied to freeflybella's topic in Speakers Corner
Maybe it had something (read: a whole helluva lot) to do with the alternative. I think it had to do more with what the press told people what the alternative was. Are you saying the press favored Bush? -

Until next time, eh?

Talk about being all over the place!?!? WOW!

Do you sell fertilizer, by the truckload, too?

Snarter than most.
-
That's my understanding, too.

The truth is that there was no meeting in Prague between Atta and Iraqi intelligence, despite Cheney's claims. mediamatters.org/items/200512150009 So what? So you and Cheney both appear to have a hard time telling truth from fiction. What specifically do you think I "have a hard time telling truth from fiction" about? Do you have actual examples ... or is this just a bogus insult? Again - do you have any proof of the meeting in Prague being discredited in 2001? In 2001?

It is quite fun watching you avoid admitting you were wrong, even though the truth is so obvious. Just to show you what a good sport I am, I'll concede you are right and I am wrong if you can produce credible evidence that the CIA or the FBI knew the alleged meeting in question was a fabrication at the time Cheney made the statements (in 2001) you posted above.

You'd better look over your shoulder so you don't trip.
-
Yeah. You were one... maybe two years old. I'm sure you remember it well.
-
In my own life yes.. but I DECIDE that... do I try to cram that down other peoples throats.. NO... It would be nice if people would just stay the hell out of OTHER peoples lives and let GOD judge them rather than ASSUMING the mantle of judging others. Your post record on this forum says plenty about your "live and let live" philosophy.

LOL I love it! You're too much! You post Cheney quotes from 2001, stating " It was a lie, of course" Then try to use later findings to prove Cheney knew it was a lie. Or maybe... just maybe... this might require you getting outside your comfort zone... maybe Cheney was (mistakenly) relying on claims made by a top government official from the country where the alleged meeting took place. "unsubstantiated rumor"? Okay

It's easy to say " their staff certainly does a more thorough job of news gathering than most "real" news programming", when they get to cherry pick the juicy morsels they make fun of. I'd like to see some straight up, serious analysis, without the schtick Would he measure up? Or would he fail as miserably as Rush did, when he tried to hold his own with the real McCoys?

They are examples of following the party line As Marx would dictate.

Yes. However, intelligence gathering has a lot of "fill in the blanks" and relying on questionable sources. That said, I think the WMD intel used to justify invading Iraq was pretty half-assed. Even by intel standards, it didn't measure up. What have I said (specifically) that gave you that impression. My goal in this recent back and forth was just to show you that making an assertion based on bad information doesn't make someone a liar. Then again you seem to think google results for Colin Powell My Lai prove he actively participated in covering up the My Lai Massacre.

Yes. (don't tell me you missed him on Crossfire) So did you watch it Friday night? Great interview. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04272007/transcript1.html Crossfire? You mean his trash talking with Tucker Carlson, two and a half years ago? Wow. What kind of insightful analysis did he offer? Thanks for the Moyers transcript. I didn't read the whole thing, but it sure did seem like Moyers was only tossing up easy lobs. "Here you go, Jon. Let me blow a little sunshine up your ass. Then you can respond". Perhaps Stewart can do something a little more hard hitting, like Larry King Live.

You keep giving statements from 2002 (and later) to show Cheney was lying in 2001. When news organizations report stories that are later shown to be incorrect are these stories lies or merely examples of being wrong?
-
We have a winner, folks.
-
When did US Intelligence conclude the information about this alleged meeting was incorrect? Do you know the difference between telling a lie and simply being wrong?
-
Not ALL of us in the USA live our lives in such fear that we feel the need to carry a gun at all times. I do get a kick out of the frequent claim that people who support gun ownership "all live their lives in fear". Does everyone who has health insurance "live their lives in fear"? How about people who lock their doors at night?
