  1. when exactly did it go through the roof? infolab.stanford.edu/~gary/deficit.jpg Sometime between 1980 and 1988, I suggest. I do get a kick out of those Budget "lite" numbers and charts.
  2. Maybe the deficit wouldn't be through the roof, too. when exactly did it go through the roof?
  3. I'm not sure you get the point of speaker's corner. Someone better call the Thread Topic Police!!!
  4. Of course, I didn't hear to many people claim the Dow was rising while it was declining by almost 40 percent. Edited to add: Considering you showed a chart containing 150 periods, what average should be used?
  5. I guess that depends on what parameters one uses. A seven year (weekly) moving average of the Dow hasn't had a down period since 1983. In the chart you linked, there is an obvious cooling period from the 40s to the 70s that occurs while CO2 levels constantly rise. A five year (and probably a ten year) average would show cooling. How is this explained.... other than discounting it being brought up?
  6. Forces? Could you provide some examples?
  7. I voted for the first option because I thought that would have the most inflamatory effect. I rarely take these polls seriously. As to the topic of dicussion, I opposed the invasion before it began. Since it began, I've hoped for the best... thinking there are/were some military experts, who did their homework and were smart enough to win this thing. More and more this looks like a historically significant global blunder.
  8. An hour? Why am I not surprised?
  9. It's your time machine. I guess you can do what you want. Still, it's interesting that you thought to use it for avoiding the Iraq War, instead of avoiding this current mess, altogether.
  10. Yes. Lets face it, some people will believe anything. Hell, there are people out there who think a magic man in the sky will cure cancer if they ask him nicely enough. Wow. It only took three replies.
  11. Sounds a lot like The Celestine Prophecy. I guess there's something about the American psyche(sp?) that cranks up the interest if we think we're getting in on something... especially if there are powerful people who want to keep it hidden. Oh my! Go ready Norman Vincent Peale, folks. Same message... without all the drama.
  12. I think it was right after it was presented to him as fact. "Facts are important and should be checked before drawing conclusions." What is your point? That Cheney's 2001 statements about "Atta in Prague" should have been investigated more thoroughly before going public? Or are you going with "he knew he was lying about it back in 2001, even though there is no evidence of him doing so"? Edited to add: I noticed you only responded to part of my post, ignoring "Why not go back to August 2001?" Hmm.
  13. I think it was right after it was presented to him as fact. Why not go back to August 2001? Or are you okay with the events of 9/11/01?
  14. Especially those unemployed who got fired as a result of the increases.
  15. Why would you do that? It's clearly a desire to insult him instead of just discussing the information you have that you believe he doesn't. I thought only people from West Virginia did that. More state-racism?
  16. And honestly, I think it comes close to qualifying. It's certainly in the top 10. Why? Because kallend posts some information about other chemicals/compounds that are dramatically more toxic? LOL
  17. To an extent drug laws are a form of state mandated racism, given that the poor are usually minorities, but in theory it is a more a form of state mandated classism. I thought most of the the poor people in this country (which is what I thought we were talking about), were white. Also, I thought most drug users were not poor. I'm confused. After reading that Rehmwa(sp?) was just making a friendly jab, the direction of this thread is that much funnier.
  18. Spin is spin. Calling the offer a "commission fee" doesn't change what it is. Right. Spin. What happened to your "stupid comment of the month" post. It was too funny.
  19. How about we all look at the part quade was responding to, rather than illegitimately making connections that imply bullshit about his intention? Look at quade's post. He wasn't responding to any of those points. He was ONLY responding to the aside about californians. By the way, I'm trying really hard to discuss this as if you're also discussing it -- rather than just muckraking. Billvon asked nicely and he's a good guy. But I'm not made of steel. It seems like your saying a lot more than just discussing quade's post. I asked questions because I wasn't sure what he was saying. Posting "but it's at least a very bigoted point of view ya got their pal" gave me the impression that he asking about more than state oriented stereotypes.
  20. The current level of CO2 makes up 1/2500th of the atmosphere. I can see why people are so concerned with it.
  21. Sure. Quade said that rhemwa's "californian" statement was bigotted. So please, ncclimber, tell me how you get from there to telling Quade that he's saying: Not a single one of those words or points was in quade's comments. Look at the post quade responded to.
  22. What is the statehood version of racism? Not really sure, but it's at least a very bigoted point of view ya got their pal. what are you saying?... that criminals are actually the victims when they get caught breaking laws??? That drug laws are a form of state mandated racism?
  23. As a rule, effective propaganda mixes lies in with truths. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009649 Oh yes, The WSJ Opinion page - ha ha. About as impartial as Salon. It didn't deny the $10k bribe, it just called it a "commission fee". What part of the linked piece was incorrect or misleading? I find it quite amusing that you discount the credibility of a respected mainstream organization, considering you have use sites like the "People's Weekly World Newspaper" to support your positions. LOL
