  1. Do you have the results of a study or official statement from any credible (read non-partisan) journalistic society to support this "widely accepted fact"? People think there are studies on fucking EVERYTHING. News flash - SOME THINGS ARE SO OBVIOUS THAT THEY DO NOT REQUIRE A STUDY! Then again, some people seem to think many claims, no matter how absurd, are obvious truths. Oil company/gas price collusion... Race is irrelevant regarding gun violence... Oswald acted alone
  2. Looking at the first two replies it seems this is a hot button issue that some people are afraid to address. One problem with the issue of "thought police", similar to our "right to bear arms" and the new powers of the Patriot Act, is that many people are (justifiably) afraid of that nasty old slippery slope. All too frequently, compromises by one side are treated as stepping stones by the other. At least we get a chance to reshuffle the deck every two years.
  3. What then is an appropriate response to being attacked? A "Time out"? A stern talking-to? Not letting them have their glass of Merlot w/their pheasant under glass? Oooh. You really showed me. 'cause after all there nothing in between those two extremes. Mine represents the reality we see daily (mass killing of innocents) and yours is some bizarre pornographic fantasy you have about politics of "the other side" (luxury dietary restrictions). You really hit on the truth there. I'm totally shamed by this lesson in reason and sanity you portray. If only our posts were as well thought out, relevant and civil as yours... we'd all be that much better off. We are fortunate to have posters who don't resort to condescending sarcasm, cheap shots or smarmy off tangent distractions. Thanks for all you do.
  4. Wow. Could you provide a link? I ask because what you're talking about sounds like a US airstrike in early January, but the details in the stories I read are decidedly different than your claims. Additionally, your comparison of the US providing support to third world government (fighting insurgent/rebel forces), to Canada launching an attack, against a lone terrorist, within the US, is an apples and oranges analogy.
  5. Which parts were deceptions? Is this like your claim about McVeigh going to his death as a devout christian?
  6. I hold deceptive faith hu$tler$ on par with deceptive race hu$tler$. I'd say yes. That's about right. Confusing televangelical hustling with truly righteous religious types does a disservice to those that are quietly decent because of their faith. So Jerry Falwell is just a deceptive hustler, eh? That's funny!
  7. Say what your saying is you hold dedicated conservative Christian organizations on par with deceptive race hustlers, right? How about Billy Graham? Do you hold him in the same low regard?
  8. What are you saying?... That Timothy McVeigh thought he was doing God's will?
  9. Throw a stone ???? The last homegrown religious radical I remember blew up a woman at the olympic park....blew up a couple gay bars and shot some folks at abortion centers. Throw a stone ? Whats frightening to me is that you really believe that. IMO, protesters(sp?) are quite different from terrorists. The media should ignore them,.. the FBI should not.
  10. _______________________________ 'Redneck Mother'... great Jerry Jeff Walker song! Sums it all up. Chuck Or Ray Wiley Hubbard. He was born in Oklahoma...
  11. Does the USC give specific examples of oil companies funding scientists, who criticize AGW?
  12. Kind of like People For The American Way.
  13. Deja Vu http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2596795#2596795 Oh yeah. The UCS website was the source of my previous post (#34).
  14. The SCOTUS of 1973.... which was quite different from the current SCOTUS.
  15. Is anyone honestly upset that this guy got 15 years?
  16. 11.5? I got 8.57. At least you were close.
  17. Go, Tom, Go!!! Woot! Woot! Can I get an AMEN? Maybe he's thinking about the next election??? Gingrich/Delay ticket in '08?
  18. It sounds like you're say the Commerce Clause is very relevant to this issue, as well as Roe v. Wade,... which means that even though it's the great big ole elephant in the room, the pro-choice proponents won't go near it because of the possibility of having all abortion rights kicked back to the state level. Is that about right?
  19. The Supreme Court of the United States is in the business of handing out political favors? No kidding?
  20. If the mother's life or health may be endangered by giving birth, she and her doctor have the right to make this choice, not the government. I believe the following is prt of the law in question.
