Perhaps you're right, but damn I hate leaving slots blank..

Why? What response would your question lead to, negative or positive? Instead of asking who would do the best job, you asked, Anyone that you would rather hammer nails through your toes, than see win? Tells us a lot about you.

Elections by nature are usually either/or.... I have no intention of "stirring the $hit". I'm asking for informed opinions. If I wanted PM's, I'd of asked for them, but that wouldn't help those who are wondering like I am. I find your responses interesting

So we just vote blindly from the story each has to tell? Perhaps make our choice based on who jumped last year, and who didn't? I hear complaints all the time about USPA. Which leadership will help make corrections? Do you care more about the sport, or pissing someone off?

I received my "ballot". Now, being in this sport just over a year, I can pretty much figure out which Regional Director to vote for. Unfortunately. I don't have much of a clue when it comes to the other slots. Any opinions out there to lead or sway us newer divers?

I'm balanced too... It says that there are 17% like us. Should we try and take over

I converted the conference room into my office. I need a lot of space!

Me too... I can touch it with my tongue...

I just remembered another one... This big kid named Jeff use to beat my friend and I up on a regular basis in 7th grade. We got tired of it and devised a plan to get him back. We took a twelve gauge shot-gun shell and emptied out the lead shot. We chewed gum and placed it in the shell and reclosed it. The next day we headed out early and hid near the path in the woods by Jeff's house. Of course the intention was to shoot him with the sticky gum. Well, he never showed that morning. We went back home and fired it at the barn. That wad of sticky gum went straight through the wooden wall

Why would someone have to get married to do that? You don't have to get married if you have these things, but why not? If you love someone, and they love you, why not follow it up with a commitment? Relationships are hard work, and there are times when that commitment will keep you working, instead of running...

In my humble opinion... In order to have a long lasting relationship, of any kind, we have to be secure in ourselves. We have to accept our own faults and strengths and believe in who we are. It's very difficult to love someone if we constantly wonder if we ourselves are desirable. Marriage is huge! When you find someone that you want to share everything with, no secrets, no fear, someone whom you don't want to slink away from after sex, someone you can call your best friend, marry them.

Through my experience of being on the crappy end of the stick, if you want money, you usually have to prove some sort of "damage".

We have brought this on ourselves... Our god has become the almighty dollar. We equate happiness with green in our pockets. Unfortunately, most of us in society will never achieve the level we think we need to be at to be "happy". Along comes an opportunity to get way ahead. We've been wronged, pay us. I spilled hot coffee on myself, pay me, my child fell down, pay me. We blame the lawyers, but we've empowered them. Why do we pay so much for insurance? Why do we have to fear letting the neighbor kids play in our yards? Our greed is biting us in the ass. I've been sued in business for the most ridiculous reasons. I recently had an opportunity to sue and walk away with cash, the owner just couldn't believe that I wouldn't sue him. Unless we change this culture, it's only going to get worse. What have we done to our children?

I feel that you have an extremely arrogant attitude! Just because you skydive does not make you any braver or better than the next person. I know that I would much rather jump from an airplane than saw open a human being's skull and possibly be the reason why he never wakes up again. That takes an enormous amount of courage, self-confidence, skill and all the other attributes you feel you alone have. I also doubt that they lose any sleep over your pity. Let me put your self righteous indignation into perspective for you... First...you took my reference wrong. The brain doctors I'm referring too are psychologist, not neuro surgeons. As far as my arrogance goes, where is there arrogance in my statement? Why is it arrogant of me to state an opinion of how I feel when someone makes a statement that they know nothing about? Did I pick something they do and pass judgment on them? Oh and I do pity those who sit back and pass judgment on others to justify their own inability to be different if they so chose. I know these people personally, you do not. "Professionals" who mimic their patients for laughs when they're drinking, people that I wouldn't let walk through my front door. As far as them losing sleep over my pity, you're right, the illegal pharmaceuticals I've seen them share are probably the culprit Arrogant because I sky dive? If you ever jump with me, you'll see why thats pretty funny

My brother broke his ankle during a round of golf... naw seriously... he did... I'm going to search for statistics on golf injuries to do a comparison. Maybe we can make Andy Copeland happy by finding something to use instead of Skydiving -vs- Auto accidents! I'll be back...

My wife worked with a group of brain doctors. I have heard the "death wish" line before. They're really just jealous because they are afraid to live, or be different. I pity them... Recently I had a golf cart catch on fire and the batteries blew up in my face. The second the acid touched my eyes, my first thought was "can you skydive blind". Thankfully there was a hose 20' feet away, and there was no lasting damage. Now when people tell me they are going to play golf, I act horrified and tell them how dangerous the sport is
-
I agree... I don't care how well a child is educated though, when you tell them something is off limits and dangerous, you're going to want to play with it (my mother told me girls were dangerous:) I was well educated in the use of firearms by the time I was ten. I would still drag out the M1 Carbine when I got the chance though. I knew how to handle and fire it, but I shouldn't have been able to by myself. I'm a member of the NRA and believe you should ALWAYS lock your firearm up. It doesn't matter if you have kids or not. If you need a weapon within 2 seconds, get an Echo chainsaw. They start on the first pull, and NO ONE will hang around after you get it going! PS- My mother was right too

Children have a natural fascination with fire and some kids are bedwetters. How can either of those issues compare to torturing an animal? Richards I grabbed this out of am article. There can be three pretty dominant signs that someone is going to be a bit bent when they mature... John Douglas at 4:14pm ET Yes. The early warning signs generally will show up before kindergarten, in pre-school. If attempts are not made to change some of these behavioral patterns, law enforcement will probably be investigating a crime perpetrated by this person in the future. Some of the early warning signs I've written about in the past include arson, bed wetting due to emotional (not physiological) problems and animal cruelty. If attempts are not made to counsel this child, the basic thinking pattern will be set and it will become very difficult to change this child's behavior by the time he or she may even get to middle school.

Art teacher fired because of field trip. WTF??
ROK replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in Speakers Corner
When I was in High School, we had a Sociology teacher named Mr. P. He would take us on field trips, and once brought in two street hookers to talk to us. We got to ask them questions and they told us of their lifestyle, the risks, diseases, etc... Not once did the class turn immature (Fk-ing miracle). Because of what I learned from those two ladies, I never ever have come close to paying a hooker. He was reprimanded and almost fired. Now, I do beleive that if this teacher toured the museum first, she should have informed the parents in writing that the museum contains some nudes. She should have been smart enough to give the parents the choice. After all the kids are 10, or 11, or ah maybe 15 if you live in the South... Should she be fired? No way... -

How many of the parents that signed the slips have actually ever been in a museum, we are talking about Texas here Here's the irony, the same people complaining probably have given their child an X-Box and a hand full of games where you can pretend to slash and hack your friends. (I know, I know) Personally, I wish all art involved nudity, because nudity can certainly be art... -
I encourage every one I know to jump. Eighteen to eighty, blind, cripple, or crazy. I speak of what I love with passion and clarity. I don't go out of my way to tell people what I do, but most of my friends are from spending 70 hours a week at work, word travels, and the questions get asked. What I've found is that women tend to do it before guys will. Women- 5 Guys- 0 One 21 year old girl (Sarah) made a jump, and not only had she never jumped, she had never been in a plane! The bigger and stronger the guy, the bigger the wuss they usually are.

I would say ... lets start with this one... Little Jonny thinks its ok to torture kittens and cats... but that is ok because Jonnies daddy hates cats. When little Johnny grows up to be a psychopath who rapes and kills other human beings.... we hear from Johnnies family how quiet and good a child he was. I think that would qualify as bad parenting skills The other two pieces to that puzzle are Johnnies inclinations towards starting fires, and wetting the bed. Are parents whose children play with fire and wet the bed bad parents too?
