Enjoy FL! Skydiving the coast gives you an AWESOME view of the ocean at altitude! I love it. Plus the weather is almost always nice. There is almost no such thing as winter. Well, there really is no change here either. I dont really have any great care for the New Year... hell my way of bringing it in was sleeping all day. I am looking to get one when I get back to the states... just curious what you guys feel is the best of them. I have heard of ones that have such shot-ie production that the visor is glued down, or it opens during free-fall. In an effort to avoid such, I am asking for your opinion! I do cigars sometimes do. I was recently shown the light of flavored cigars in the way of amaretto. I will probably never smoke an un-flavored again! I also smoke it like its a cigarette. I guess I have been smoking so long that it is nearly impossible to not inhale normally... reflex or something As for AFN, dont even get me started! I tried watching the Superbowl last year while I was in Germany and I was on a NFL chat room at the same time. Everyone was talking about how great the commercials were. All I could say was, "What the one about not drinking and driving, or the one about wearing proper safety gear when riding a motorcycle?" Threw them all for a loop... I still wish I could have seen them commercials... Thats like asking how many lives have been saved by seat belts vs. those who have died from wearing them. Ok, not exactly the most accurate analogy, but still... I am still in the "pull VERY high" phase, so I havnt even come close to needing to use one, but I still dont think I would jump without one. Its that one extra measure that might just save you... Its just one of those nice little kick backs from military service. We also get free housing, free utilities, and in some cases, free food at the DFac. And if you are stationed in another country where the currency is worth more than the dollar, we get COLA to help us out with the higher costs of everday idems. The biggest being gas. In Germany you are paying for a liter what you would pay for a gallon in the states. So they help us out and we pay normal US prices. Its a really good deal.

No, you wanna hear something that sucks? Try perfect blue skies, not a cloud in the sky, and little to no wind. Same exact conditions for nearly 2 months straight! Then factor in the fact that this has to go to waste because of a combat zone! This would make a perfect skydiving vacation spot! Really warm in the summer, hot during winter days [but get some jackets for the nights]. And with us being surrounded my mountains, we hardly ever get precipitation that could scrub a day of jumps. I just hate seeing it go to waste... First of all, I would like to say that fighting in Afghanistan, there is a HUGE group of coalition forces from all over the world. Its not just the GB and the US. A lot of people have a hand in it. As for Nato invading Iran, personally I think that would be one of the worst decisions made by any leader. Think about Germany trying to fight on 2 fronts. They failed. Here we are, fighting on 2 and to have a third added on it would strech our forces that much thinner... I dont think it will happen any time soon. But, personally, if it does, you had better believe, I will be glad to take up another deployment. Its my duty, and my privilage to be a soldier. Any day, any time, I volunteer to take up arms from my country... I know what you mean about wanting to take her home. I am one that if I ever see an animal out on the street alone, we take it home. My family lost a dog to being hit by a car, and ever since, my Mom had no problem to taking them in. We became almost like the areas second animal shelter. Usually they were someones pet that accidentally got out. It got to the point that our house was one of the first places people would check if they lost their pets. And if it was a stray, we would help find it a good home. As for the people who I hate that don't care for animals, I had some that I really hated. When my dog Silhouette had puppies, we gave all but one away [they were an accident so we didn't feel right asking for money for them]. Anyway this one family came and took one of them and for like 2 or 3 months everything seemed fine. Then one day one of my mom's co-workers who took the puppy told her that she had 24 hours to go pick up the dog or she was going to the pound. Needless to say my mom went right after work and got her. When she got there, the sight was sickening. We gave them all lil puppy collars and leashes so we could walk them and everything. When my mom got to their place she found the poor puppy out back, wearing the same collar [that wasn't adjusted at all, and she is a medium breed dog so she was practically choking from it], and the leash had a stake thru the end of it being used as a tie down for her [this is just a 3 foot leash]. She was filthy dirty, and in much need of attention. Turns out she would get really excited when someone would come outside and see her, and she would playfully growl, and jump around. That scared this guys kids and they didn't want to play with her. All they did for those 2 months would go out and give her food and water. We wanted to kill these guys. We took her home, and she became my dog. She is truly the smartest dog I have ever had. I love her to death and miss her so much right now. She still lives in FLA with my parents. Sadly I cant take her with me because she lives with her Mom, Dad, and adopted sister. I cant separate her from them after she grew up around them. This is why its a good idea to ALWAYS have a wing-man [or woman]. I usually take a good friend to make sure I don't try acting like too much of a bad a**, but they definatly come in handy in a situation like this. Cancer can be caused by too many things these days. Do you have a cell phone? Those are said to cause cancer. Do you cover up completely when you go out into the sun to prevent skin cancer? I hear this quite often. "How can smoking help you? It is nasty..." etc. etc. The truth of it is, you don't know the particulars of each person. You don't know just HOW stressful their life can be. With that, if you have never tried it [and gotten past inhalation], then you honestly have no clue how helpful it can be. As for the guy who mentioned about how I made it thru Basic and AIT without cigarettes and now because an NCO sends some BS my way, I need to smoke. Basic and AIT was a cake walk. I was constantly told that it would be one of the hardest things I would ever do. I went thru 3 years of JROTC. I was plenty of prepared. Hell, in some subjects, I taught my fellow soldiers who were struggling. It was too easy. However this NCO tops that any day. He once had my weapon taken away for 3 weeks [in a combat zone that is a big thing] and he sent me in for a full mental evaluation because he decided to blame me for sabotage on a computer system we use for daily operations. I didn't even work that particular system during the time in question, but because in his eyes I am a "slacker and looking for a way to get out of things" and as such I automatically became suspect number one. He even tried to start an investigation, that if went the way he wanted, would have had me discharged. For someone who at the time was set on a full 20 year military career, that is a crippling blow. Especially coming from someone who is suppose to support you instead of fight you every step of the way. Some may look at this as just complaining, and feel that it displays my true character, but until you have been in my boots, you have no clue...
