  1. So how is everyone's teams doing so far? Who knew Fluery would go 12 in a row, after that horrid start? The Red Wings look like the team of old and we may be heading for a Lord Stanley Wings/Pens rubber match. How did the Devils get so bad? The Oilers will be a pretty good team in 2 years and a great team in 4. What team leaves which city first? Islanders, Thrasher or Coyotes?? Why did the Hawks trade big "Buf", the guy is a monster on defense now. Do the Caps fire their coach sooner than later??? The Winter Classic is going to be great, both teams hate each other. I went to the Kings/Flames game last Thursday. Iginla looked like just another fourth line forward. Rick Nash, the most underrated player in the league. Merry Christmas puckheads!
  2. I have one slot open for the boogie at the host hotel. A jumper has to get knee surgery and can't make it. If you are interested plese e-mail me. We have 134 participants joining us this year.
  3. oops. I didn' read that, I'm not used to Amazon being out of SC.
  4. A great football player and the best announcer in the Monday Night Football booth ever. Turn out the lights, the party's over...
  5. I spend a lot of time on Ambergris Caye in Belize. I could tell you thousands of horror stories about ex-pats that have moved there, and maybe a hundred really good stories. When you go to a small island just remember these rules... 1. Everyone is full of shit. 2. Everything is for sale. 3. Small islands become really boring. 4. Not much happens on a small island, but what gossip you hear makes up for it. Check out the book "Don't stop the carnival" and read these lyrics to "Just another Gringo in Belize" one of my favorite songs.. http://www.belizenorth.com/just_another_gringo.htm
  6. We probably have the most skydiving/SCUBA integration at the Belize boogie. After 6 events we have had one person get DCS, even after waiting 24 hours to fly. Martini makes great point about each individual's physiology, height, depths etc. So at a boogie that mixes both sports, skydive, SCUBA, get drunk at the nightly party, rehab at the pool all day long the next day and be back in the air the next!
  7. The Philippines boogie didn't have an airplane?
  8. Pat Burns-what a coach. RIP Fuck cancer
  9. Bill, I was thinking the same thing. Gear knowledge is pretty poor these days. Beyond what colors to put on their rig and canopy, a lot of newer jumpers don't know much about the equipment. We all know folks with 1,000's of jumps that couldn't pack their main if they had too. Any rigger can make a mistake and we don't have x-ray vision to see what is under the reserve flaps. But I do think learning about properly seated grommets, worn out soft links, closing loop wear, properly hooked up three rings, checking the movement in the cable housings for debris after a dirt crash landing, steering line wear, container wear, properly set pilot chutes and kill line wear, etc all can save our life someday. All little items we can teach "A" license jumpers along their way to a safe, fun skydiving adventure.
  10. That's some pretty bad and wrong legal advice. I'll stick to using Larry Hill's lawyer if you don't mind.
  11. "Boogie in Belize VII" is sold out. If you want to go South this winter, come on down and join us! I have a couple of rooms remaining for the "Skyfari" event which will take place following "VII". We will have a PAC 750, 17 skydives, great beachfront hotel, welcoming dinner, free rum, nightly parties, Blue Hole jumps and a great farewell beach BBQ! See you there!
  12. I could make a "mistake" while doing a brake job on my car. Does that make me any less liable if I run over your child because of that mistake? My point is riggers should be up to date on all the gear they are dealing with, and an oversight such as NOT routing the reserve closing loop inside the cutter is just plain negligence More than one rigger has misrouted an AAD set up. A molar strap was left on a reserve and packed once that I know of. Know your gear. Choose your rigger wisely.
  13. The city council met in a closed session and approved city staff to make it happen. I am working with the city now on all of the permits, insurance and other requirements. The FAA is on board and behind us 100%. I speak nearly twice a week with Randy Ottinger at USPA HQ. He is guiding me through this long and involved process to ensure we jump at Oceanside for years to come. I am getting my dues worth out of him. I am still looking for a March start up. I'll have a definite date set when all of the "T's" are crossed and the "I's" are dotted.
  14. I'm starting that diet right now!

  17. I often wondered if the hanging/burning of the Blackwater guys on the bridge was retribution for what they were doing in Iraq.
  18. So there was this Canadian jumper once down at Skydive Arizona a long time ago for a holiday boogie, he's organizing some of his peeps from his DZ, and a guy walks up and asks if he can get on the load and help out. Canadian guys sez, "We're OK Eh" and sorta tells the guy to piss off. I guess they don't get skydiving news or magazines up in the great white north. The guy he told to scram was an "Airspeed" member(That laughed and thought it was pretty damn funny he couldn't get on a load at his own DZ). I love that story. So buck up buttercup, it happens to the best of us!
  19. I met Florida Governor Charlie Crist a few years ago when he was the FL Attorney General under Jeb Bush. We had a great discussion on all sorts of things from poltics to skydiving. I was impressed he knew how many DZ's there were in Florida and the income it meant to the states tourism industry. He said Jeb's ultimate goal was to run for president in the not too distant future. I wouldn't count him out, even with that last name of Bush. And as a side note. For a politician, Mr. Crist was a very down to earth, matter of fact kind of guy.
  20. Well, here's another one that must resort to violence and doesn't have the social skills to handle a problem in any other way. Congrats, dude. Your post captures both cocky AND arrogant.
