I have a sitsuit without wings, it's quite nice for jumping in summer or as a freefly top - it will not blow over your handes! Mine was actually made that way but if the suit is really cheap you could buy it and remove the wings. ciel bleu, Saskia

would you let me jump a smaller chute at your dz?
dragon2 replied to MADPROPS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you jump a smaller and/or more HP canopy, besides landing skills, you'll also need to be a much better packer, open stable and on heading much better otherwise you'll get linetwists or worse much more easily, a malfunction eats up way more alti way quicker when you have a diving small canopy to deal with compared to a bigger square one, and like mentioned before flying through traffic it all happens faster. If you want somthing more fun to fly than your monarch why not get a same size canopy but a semi-elip like a safire 169, pilot 168, sabre2 170, fusion 170, of which the sabre2 and the fusion are the most HP. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Do you mean it look wider using the camera viewfinder or on a pc? I haven't compared specs but most cameras do not show 100% of the photo you're taking in the viewfinder but only 95%-98% or so, the better the camera (more Pro model) the more it shows. There may also be a difference in what the camera's LCD screen shows you. When you look at your pics on a pc though both cameras should show the same FOV. ciel bleu, Saskia

No idea what it's called, I'd guess something with "USA" and/or "stars and stripes" in it LOL, I got some pics of same from our vintage weekend so now it's our national "Red White & Blue" ciel bleu, Saskia

Some video including sitsuit flying eh flailing. It isn't that easy for firsttimers ciel bleu, Saskia

Only a viable option if you can get the lineset from another source than PdF With their current lack of customer service I'd just keep the springo as a car cover and get something else to jump. ciel bleu, Saskia

Hmm think you're right. Babylon is supposed to jump tonfly now If you're in France, or hereabouts in general, I'd get Tonfly over Rawa though. ciel bleu, Saskia

Buyer Scams: Western Union and Certified "Cheques"
dragon2 replied to j_ung's topic in Security and Scam Alerts
Creditcards aren't as common over here as in the States and opening a paypal account with a bank account as money source takes a while. So while I usually prefer paypal, over here bank transfers are sometimes faster and often cheaper. And just as safe (for the seller anyway). I've also accepted a cheque once, funny as the check fees cost the buyer as much as the freefly suit I was selling Money orders, Western Union and stuff, never. So far, I haven't been burned with skydiving stuff, although I did receive a surprise hybrid triathlon once that was listed as a regular triathlon (or rather not specifically as a hybrid). It pays to be smart about the person you're dealing with, after a bit you'll pick out most scams immediately by just reading the first email. My tip: don't be afraid of dealing with foreigners or with people who's English isn't that great, but mind the warning lights in your head ciel bleu, Saskia -
ANOTHER downsizing-thread..
dragon2 replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If he wants to swoop he'll swoop. Have personally seen way too many very low "swoops" on safires, pilots, sabres and stilettos too to think your way. For an unintentional low turn, than a safire or the like would be a bit better I agree, so for a first canopy the sabre2 is fairly HP. But at 200+ jumps, I don't see a problem with it, it's a good canopy and it's no crossfire, katana etc. ciel bleu, Saskia -

Eh, I think you've been told that a few times already in this thread no? ciel bleu, Saskia -
ANOTHER downsizing-thread..
dragon2 replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
so the sabre2 has a longer arc, as most modern swoop-canopies do, which will suit me better in the long run if i want to keep going the HP-way!? Yes. Sabre 2 150, sabre 2 135, crossfire 2 129 might (MIGHT, since I don't know you so just a general suggestion) be a sensible progression for you if you are interested in swooping. ciel bleu, Saskia -

dragon2 replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well that's wrong.... Its a better canopy because of that. If you were jumping a canopy like a crossfire, with a longer recovery arc. You would have less room for error. With the shorter recovery arc if you are in a dive and realize that you are to low you can release and come out of the dive quicker. Which is better then if you were jumping a canopy with a longer recovery arc. You can end up with bones broken or worse!!! That's backwards. Short recovery arc for swooping means whipping a turn at a very low altitude which leaves you NO room for error. With a canopy with a longer recovery arc you start your turn higher thereby leaving you more time to bail out should the need arise. Of course if you whip a low turn on a canopy with a longer recovery arc you're going to get hurt too but the ability/the need to start your turn a bit higher makes swooping a bit safer. Hence the choice of a sabre 2 over sabre, pilot, safire 1/2, spectre etc. ciel bleu, Saskia -
You'll want a helmet without camera stuff anyway as you won't always want to jump a camera helmet, I'd get a nice open face helmet now and see what kind of camera helmet you'll want/need to buy later as there are many styles and some depend on the camera model and stuff. If you want real protection get a pro-tec, it'll serve you well I still have and sometimes jump mine. Otherwise, plenty of brands to choose from that are way more expensive, don't provide half the protection but look cooler ciel bleu, Saskia

Another vote here for a sabre 2 150. Good canopy to learn to swoop on, has a nice recovery arc and at a fairly high wingloading you have already it'll be plenty for you to play with. Not much sense in going to a safire of any size if you want to learn to swoop and even one size downsize sounds like too much for you right now. BTW springos are HP canopies (at any size, think Stiletto) that are also bad to learn to swoop on due to their short recovery arc and not suitable for backriser flight/landings and they are very turbulence-prone, that's a canopy I've jumped for a season I'd stay away from it if I were you. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Yeah but how to fix the remote... I jumped with a D70 for a year before the D70s came out, I don't want to go back to the IR remote thing again. ciel bleu, Saskia

I have a D2X too but no way in hell am I going to jump it Record jump or not. I think my D200 is on the heavy side already, but def. worth it. My D80 is better for my neck though ciel bleu, Saskia

When you check the view, make sure you check on a pc not on a tv/viewfinder as the pc will show quite a bit more, very annoying when people play a dvd on their pc on when editing non-linear. Not sure if you knew this, just a tip

Want a similar canopy to Vengeance. No Airlocks!
dragon2 replied to halorob's topic in Gear and Rigging
Crossfire 2 would be my guess, if you don't want a Samurai Maybe a Katana. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Do RAPS jumps count towards your A? Over here you need 25 FREEFALL jumps so SL does NOT count towards any license except your SL license and military wing. So a SL student WOULD potentially have more jumps here although I think hardly anyone gets his/her A at 25 jumps because of all the other things you need to do, I got my A at 50 jumps myself. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Aside from the facts that RAPS is cheaper and you are not as scared of low altitudes (a VERY big plus in my book) there is also the fact that as a RAPS/SL student you are able to jump with a lower cloud ceiling when an AFF student would be grounded. A nice plus in UK, Netherlands and other countries with less than stellar weather. ciel bleu, Saskia
