  1. Universal rules? Like, no passengers under 18yrs, no night jumps, no tandem demos, all rules the USA has, and we do not? When we have quite a lot of rules already but have not had a incident/problem which would've been prevented by any of the above rules? However we DID move up our requirements for TMs: they need 1000 jumps instead of the 500 jumps most countries require, this seems to have had quite an effect on our number of tandem incidents lately. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Jody, I'd be very much surprised if they let you jump any camera right now: ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. I got one on my D80, don't need it for my D200 though that one's rugged enough. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Yeah I had a interesting helpdesk call today from some people from Limburg, they kinda had the same problem ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Yeah the screw-on lenses are crappy, plus i'd be worried about the size in skydiving with that one, but their crappy-ness was already covered in another post The rest of the post plus the thread title is about Zenitar lenses, which ARE decent photolenses, are cheap and come with or without a Canon mount ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Any off-brand AF lens made for Canon will work on a XTi, all AF (= EF or EF-S) Canon lenses will work, MF Canon lenses will not work, some off-brand MF lenses for Canon will work some will not so you want to stay clear of MF lenses if you're not 100% sure. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I had a zenitar 16mm for my Canon D30/300D, I was quite happy with it. Manual focussing is not hard with a wideangle lens and for skydiving, so not a problem, most camerapeople I know jump or have jumped MF anyway. And most cameras will handle the exposure themselves, the Nikon D70/D80 which I got later do not which is why I sold my Zenitar to a Canon jumper. Sigma 15mm, Canon 15mm, Nikon 16mm are all better lenses for sure but if you buy the Zenitar straight from Russia you get a good deal and it is a usable lens. If you don't like it you can always sell it without much of a loss ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. There's a timer in it that's set to make the cypres go BOOM when it hits 12yr+3months It'll continue to start up and work, it's just not ok to jump with it anymore even if it's turned off. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. So to answer my other question.....is there any cuve/fisheye effect with that 3032? Check out this vid, first half has a lot of exits I shot with a 3030 and at 1:34 there's my feet, the horizon and the door to show the worst distortion you're gonna get. It's not fisheye-y, just the regular wide angle distortion, not bad at all compared to most other .3s! ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. He needs to be in the top 50, which he now is
  11. I'd try posting this question (in German) in the Stammtisch forum, you may get more answers there. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. You mean March 5'th, right? Anyway...... I did my part to help out. Eh feb 25, but thanx ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. A friend of mine hopes to win a mini-MBA, for that he needs to be in the top 50 of the 500 applicants that are left, by february 25th. All you have to do is copy-past this link into your browser (sorry, a direct link doesn't work) and click the "Stem" button to vote. Thanks
  14. That presumes you want to archive. we have one camera guy with a CX6 who used to re-use his tapes over and over anyway (filming tandems, his girlfriend skysurfing, freefly jumps, AFF - all gone now), he uses a standalone system to mix his tandemvids. Now he is real happy that all he needs to do is wipe the memory card when it's full. Bad luck for any tandempassenger who damaged his/her DVD ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. There is a list of PFIs here and BMIs here, don't know about other manufacturers. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Check out the thread 'bout new PD stuff in the canopy control forum ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. It's 156 sqft, it's the previous version of the current Techno 155. It's a VERY good reserve esp for an older model; it can be loaded over 1/1 safely. I had one, although I have most of my reserve jumps on a Transfair which is the 128 sqft version of the Mayday, I loaded that one at 1.2-1.4 no problem. Landed better than the PD126 I jumped a whole day as a main. The French do make very good reserves

We have a few custom helmets like that here, with the smallest possible cameras (pc106/107/109). However it's not optimal: no cutaway on the helmet possible (so not allowed to jump at some dropzones/countries) and one of our instructors already lost his camera due to riser strike. Also these helmets are not very usuable WITHOUT the camera, as with most sidemount helmets so you'd need 2 helmets unless you jump with camera 100% of the time. These helmets at our DZ are used by AFF instructors, they need the fullface and need a very small sidemount and are all very experienced jumpers. For other situations, there are much better (safer for you and for your camera) options. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. If that camera has a wired remote you can/need to make your own. No-one I know sells ready-made remotes for sony stills as not many people jump them, most people jump canon with nikon 2nd, as these cameras have been proven to work and last. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. It is POSSIBLE but most HD cams are quite wide. I'd never sidemount a HD HC-series camera (your only choice for HD tape cameras) myself, nor a CX6/7/11/12. The TG-series is sidemount-able but has other issues. My suggestion would be to invest in a new helmet that allows top+frontmount or even side-by-side topmounting, then you can get any HD camera you like, of course not a very cheap option but you can mount anything you want that way, now and in future. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Just got an unexpected Skydive The Mag in the mail with a nice article about the Teuge Vintage Weekend, very nice
  22. The raynox 3030 matches up better with 15/16mm lenses, it's slightly less wide on a HC5 than my 16mm on a nikon (1.5 cropfactor) is. The raynox 5050 matches up great with 18/20mm on a nikon (1.5 cropfactor). Canon is slightly less wide with 1.6 cropfactor. Why would you use a filter on a lens like this, the 3030 is pretty cheap, you get less quality and more flare, so I couldn't care less that this lens has no thread
  23. Use firefox and the add-in Adblock Plus and your life will be better ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Hmmm no thanx I'll pass, one hospital trip after a hard opening is quite enough for me ciel bleu, Saskia
