You are missing ALOT about camera flying. Since that has all been covered here before, both in this thread and in the FAQ and tons of threads in the camera forum, you either do not read or do not listen or do not comprehend. Which is it? About FF and jumprun, you first need to know where jumprun IS on each and every jump, and you need to be able to hold a heading. What you do is you face 90o to jumprun then practice your sit (or tracking) for a few seconds at most then you stop, turn 180o so you face 90o to jumprun again and practice again for a few seconds at most, repeat. ciel bleu, Saskia

Smallish Canopy for Beginner
dragon2 replied to FlyinBrian87's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Remember there's more to a smaller/more HP canopy than "just" landing it, it'll also demand better packing skills and better body position on opening, otherwise you run a higher risk of having malfunctions. ciel bleu, Saskia -
No more takers? ciel bleu, Saskia

A sabre 2 is a better canopy than a stiletto: it has the openings of a intermediate canopy, but it dives longer than the stiletto will. If you're looking to swoop, this canopy will help you more than a stiletto would. jump elliptical and go back? I did... Jumped mostly vengeance for a while, with some stilettos thrown in, but went back to safire and fusion, because I like the easygoing openings when I'm cameraflying and certainly for wingsuiting. Wingsuiting is a good reason to "go back" ciel bleu, Saskia

For freefall, that's pretty much the norm. Do you ever look at footage on a pc? If the camera in question had IS turned on you a) get shakier footage, the amount of shake varies from barely/not noticeable to unusable footage in extreme cases (OIS), and b) you can often see one or more black corners, like vignetting but these bounce around all the time. Very irritating for me when I edit daily videos/competition videos ciel bleu, Saskia

I'd work in a free ad for your DZ at the least ciel bleu, Saskia

Actually, the sticky doesn't mention sony cameras? Anyway, my advice: sony HC5 all the way. The focus reset is mildly irritating but is found on most new cameras so you just gotto deal. HC5 has everything else: firewire, no docking station, can use cam-eye or hypeye pro, no IS problems. I own 2. ciel bleu, Saskia

Can you scan the pic? ciel bleu, Saskia -
Why would anyone grab a handle? I only ever had people near my handles when doing train exits, and those feet can kick anything loose, I never had anyone grab anything they shouldn´t. And even if they did, flailing around in a funnel or something, the metal D ring sticks out further and is bigger so that would be a bigger target no? These days I mostly fly camera, be it inside or outside, CRW, tandems, wingsuit or bellyfly, I see no reason whatsoever to not jump loops (or metal d rings for that matter) on any of my jumps. Like i said, should I buy new I´d get loops, or pillow cutaway and loop for the reserve. ciel bleu, Saskia

Newbies - start with tandems or something else?
dragon2 replied to darrenspooner's topic in Photography and Video
First I did about 80 CRW camera jumps, then I got wings and filmed some FS, then wingsuit, added a stills camera about here, then I filmed a LOT of FS. Some of all those jumps I paid myself, most I got the slot covered. Then i was allowed to do freebee tandem videos for relatives of jumpers, Flying Blind, children´s cancer, did 20 or so of those. Then I got called in when needed for paying videos and now I´m in the rotation. I only paid for 3 tandem video jumps ever I think and that was later, when trying new stuff. All those freebee tandemvideos were good enough to sell from the get-go although of course I learned a lot more now and keep learning. ciel bleu, Saskia -

Well we have 200 jumps for camera and 1000 for tandem, better? ciel bleu, Saskia -
Compared to what? A metal handle? No way. They´re not loops like this although I´ve seen loops like that on sportrigs too, but the ones I mean are more like half of a tearshape, like this, quite lowprofile. I likes. Because I change rigs a lot, it´s too expensive to modify them much. Also I do not have a problem with my current metal d/handles, I just would get rid of a reserve pillow should any rig I buy have one. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
For the reserve ? Yes. And/or for the cutaway. We have a few rigs like that on our DZ, jumped a few, the loops (both types I've jumped) are very nice. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
I'd much rather go for a loop handle than a pillow. ciel bleu, Saskia

At my DZ you are not allowed to start video on tandems. We refused a jumper saying he had to practice first on bellyflyers. He didn´t want to pay his own way, went to another DZ where he instantly gets to shoot PAYING video. Guess where friends and family of mine are NOT going for a tandemjump It´s unsafe and you are not providing the tandem with a quality video either. ciel bleu, Saskia -
More important than distance is awareness: where's jumprun, which way should i be going and where AM I going, where do I want to end up, where's everybody else. Also, tracking jumps don't necessarily mean much when starting wingsuiting, especially solos. I'd rather see you try some sitflying (ie, get very unstable for a few jumps) and do a lot of belly group dives so you learn how to take docks in control and do some jumps where you are a diver, to learn how to approach a formation without taking them out and without zooming. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Turning the OIS off will not always help, again, read up on the camera you're interested in ciel bleu, Saskia
-
True, however it does have potential IS problems and it shows he didn't read anything about this camera on here. We had a few jumpers buy HC7/HC9 because hey they are more exensive than HC5 so they must be better, right? ciel bleu, Saskia

Hmm in the course this year and the BHV cert (don't know if you have and equivalent, it's a Company Aid Giver, something like that) I got last month it's still CPR over here, although it was mentioned that if you cannot or do not want to breathe for the victim you can skip that part. Why the change to no breathing at all? ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Lemme know... And should you have another account to trade, all the better ciel bleu, Saskia
-
We had a CPR class at our DZ earlier this year, we tried a few different fullface helmets and they were actually pretty easy to get off. As long as it's not a helmet requiring something special, like some of the custom camera helmets, don't worry about this. ciel bleu, Saskia
