  1. We occasionally have one at our DZ, this was from last weekend: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3364587#3364587 ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Our one and only staticliner-with-a-camerahelmet made a kewl movie (including the scary Slot) here Some more AN2 footage here ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. I still have a bunch of photos to go through, haven't had time yet but with our airport suddenly closed until #$%^ november I suddenly have more time than anticipated There's also a little bit of video, don't have all of it yet but a skydiver filmed one of the Slots in flight, those things are sca-ry The photos don't do them justice. Not often do you see skydivers bowing to another skydiver ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. They can definitely tell you if you're NOT. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. fixed your link ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. That leg grip doesn't work for the 2 pics I posted which is why they used straps. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Hence the term "deathstraps" BTW that pic was taken from the ground, they were at 100 ft-150 ft, they were starting to separate in this pic. All 3 landed fine. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. If you're interested in swooping i'd recommend a sabre 2 or 2nd best a fusion over a spectre, storm, safire, pilot etc. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I know the UK Red Devils jumped or jump with them, pic here and an older pic of mine on the right here ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. I'd stick with a canon digi rebel if you want lightweight and reliable for skydiving. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Here's a general guide on which canopies are suitable for whoch number of jumps and at which wingloading, it's in Dutch but easy to understand. click Category 2 is a good bet (+ sabre 1 from cat 1 and excluding the Foil), category 3 is more high performance but still ok for your first own gear (except Lightning). ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Straps like that do exist, they are called Death Straps. Guess why ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. You're kidding, right?!?! Even the smallest wussiest girls/guys can pull handles. You should get yourself an instructor to help you with this. Get in a hanging harness and PRACTICE. If you can't pull your handles you may be doing something wrong, maybe you have to change the angle you pull, and peel that velcro first if you don't already. Gear-wise get riser inserts for sure if you don't have them already. If I were afraid I wouldn't/couldn't pull my handles I'd DO something about it! Only other option IMO is to stop jumping. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Works for me (The Netherlands). Weird... ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. I saw my rigger land (...ahem...) a Lightning with a broken A-line once, because he didn't want to pack the reserve either... Bad idea ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Maybe it was too windy for him to jump? Or cloud cover too low? Did he talk to manifest/instructors and ask WHY he wasn't going up? ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Anything smaller than a 150 is considered a high-performance canopy. Are you ready for a hp canopy? Think it is smart to downsize so fast? Where you are you may be allowed to jump it depending on your instructors. You should really ask THEM. Where I am, you would not be allowed to jump a 135 until you had 400 jumps and a sabre2 (of any size) until you had 100 jumps. Here, you'd stay on the sabre 1 170 until 100 jumps then likely buy a sabre 2 150, or another 150 as you hit the 100 jump mark. Good deals are usually not, if they're not right for you and this one sounds too small too soon to me. Why not jump the 170 for a while then try out a 150 and stick with one of those 2. What's the rush? ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Like I said, you shouldn't have done that, unless the 2nd rig is the exact same as yours, you should use the bag and pc that came with the rig you're jumping. Risers too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. PCs (and bags) come with the rig, not with the canopy. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Works fine on my vista laptop, firefox 3. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Now tempos I've seen not landed ok, overloaded and not overloaded, so would never buy one myself. Are all micro ravens that bad? Or were these overloaded? Have not heard of any local problems with 'em and I'm sure we have quite a few around, in beginner rigs. If I want to load up a reserve, there are only a few I'd consider, those being techno, pd-r, smart and optimum. Which I own and/or have jumped before at 1.3-1.4 (except for the optimum). ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. think 3 threads is enough? ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. But the nova is dangerous regardless of wingloading. Would you retire every older reserve? Of course, over here some still jump 5cell reserves without any problem, mostly for crw rigs or for any jumper without much cash. One of my former team mates was real happy he had a 5cell as his camera helmet sheared off a few c/d lines on opening, ouch! He liked the Swift enough to have it relined! I wouldn't sell or recommend a too-small reserve to anyone as they should be loaded lightly, but I really don't see why older stuff needs to be retired just because it's old and has it's limits. If it's airworthy and you stay within those limits, why the hell not? not everyone can afford a new PD-R ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Because on those fullface helmets you cannot install a cutaway, which is a) a very good thing to have and b) mandatory in more and more places for camera helmets. ciel bleu, Saskia
