    between -5 and + 20, between sun and snow. Wind range between nothing and far too much. I distinctly remember last year's Empuria Xmas to be much colder than -5, brrrrr! Esp. with the rooms at Maurici not really equipped for winter... ciel bleu, Saskia

    I did the same thing once, and I'm still kicking myself for it. But you are not responsible for the rest of the load landing off, they should check for themselves. After my own green-light-itis I was doubly careful when spotting for a scramble FS3 comp with newbies + coach. Got kicked for it later by another experienced jumper because the last 1 or 2 teams landed off after my spot. I still think that we didn't get out too late; we were still short so no "perfect" spot for us just a safe one, and if the other teams take forever in the door (well, newbies...) then their video and/or their coach should ask for a turnaround instead of blaming the first team.     Plenty of Atom 00's over here, most seem hold a 150 canopy (I used to have a brand new spectre 150 in mine) or an old merit 170, with usually a techno 128 or a transfair (= earlier version of the techno 128) reserve. This container can hold a 150-120 sqft canopy and a 170 if it has to, so very versatile. My next canopy a spectre 135 was real easy to pack into it (and I suck at packing). It had a sabre 120 in it when I bought it, also fine. ciel bleu, Saskia

    Then you get either VHS or S-VHS quality, depending on the lowest quality cables used. Analog quality is way less than digital so why make copies that way?!? ciel bleu, Saskia

    You can't downconvert HDV footage to DV, but you can record in DV and then output DV. Maybe that is what they mean? ciel bleu, Saskia

    Only the most expensive sony cameras do this, unfortunately the HC1E and i presume the HC3E will not downconvert, at least the European models (E = PAL) will not. A1E does downconvert but I don't always have the oppertunity to borrow one ciel bleu, Saskia

    Don't know about Sony, but the Canon part should be available at any big photo shop. Over here they run about EUR 14 (for nikon anyway). But, why bother, I lost mine for my D70S, didn't really miss it! ciel bleu, Saskia

    No, I tried downconverting already captured m2v/mpeg files to 16:9 DV, doesn't work as my laptop gives up on rendering that (I find this out AFTER editing the whole thing!!!!) I was going to use the HDV footage with some nice DV shots mixed in but I had too much DV shots i needed and they got too small mixed in a HDV project, so switched to 16:9 halfway through. Mistake The other way round works fine; I did this year's "Don't do this" movie in HDV with some close-up shots in DV overlayed, that rendered fine. ciel bleu, Saskia

    So far, I downconvert the end result to 16:9 and burn that to DVD using Encore 2.0, or I burn straight from PP2 for a quick view on our very large widescreen tv. I'm guessing the result is still 16:9 that way, but it sure looks good on that tv! Definately better than regular DV or 16:9 DV. The tandem camery flyers here that fly HDV downconvert to 16:9 too so you get widescreen dvd's. ciel bleu, Saskia

    Yeah... I started editing in HDV this year, so far, I am NOT loving it If you are using Premiere Pro, definately get PP 2. PP 1.5 is a hassle and needs a special ($$$) plug in Cineform Aspect HD that still doesn't quite work. PP 2 is ALSO a hassle; it CAN NOT scene detect when working with HDV files I use HDVSplit to capture the footage then import that into PP 2. You need a HUGE harddrive, preferably a separate one from the drive your program files are on. This footage is very large so you need lots of room. You want a very fast (=new) pc, with a good graphics card, preferably 2gigs of RAM and get a dual core processor or similar. I have all of that, and still run into problems rendering every now and again the problems I run into are when mixing DV, widescreen DV and HDV footage in one timeline.     On a PC you'd generally use: 1) a program to rip dvd, saves footage as avi/mpeg/... 2) program to import then edit that footage and export to web-size video quicktime/mpeg/divx/wmv/... My guess is you'd do the same on a Mac. ciel bleu, Saskia

    This bears repeating. Very true. ltdiver It may also entice some of the other tandem jumpers present to get video when they weren't planning on it

    I'm guessing you do not need drivers? Unless you are running something other than XP. Also, what do you need the drivers for? USB is only good for photo transfer and small compressed video, not high res video. ciel bleu, Saskia

    1. no, never seen a hybrid tri with anything else than all dacron 2. I've seen the combination you mention on comp tri's, special order though. Most people don't like spectra for serious crw. If you are a top team, do whatever you want, if you are just doing some casual crw spectra is fine, but for everything else I'd think everyone would recommend all dacron... ciel bleu, Saskia
