  1. Sadly he isnt jumping anymore...having him as your pilot on the ride up is as close as you can get. That aside..you'd be welcome for some flocking and flying around these regions..plenty of EU birdies would take you up on that request.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Some information about prizes: Alti-2 Donated 2 25% gift certificates (Discount on N3/N3 audio) Phoenix-Fly donated several gift certificates (50%, 25%, 15% all x 3 so each member has one) Supporting this competition from the start, and one of the biggest pushing forces in making this dicipline fun and accesable for a lot of people in many forms..SkyJester. A 200,- Euro donation that will be used as a 100 euro cash prize for the winning teams in both 'Intermediate' and 'Pro' catagories. Sponsored by us (FlyLikeBrick) a 50,- euro cash prize for the most impressive flyer (public vote). Dropone The Zoo (Terni) is sponsoring with 6 (hop and pop) Jump Tickets. Several more prizes will be announced soon... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Hollow bones, feathers and wings is the first thing that comes to mind...... Loic or lurch being the second best answer.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. We will be adding several pages with information on older suits (regarding inlets, zippers, rigging, releasecables etc etc) to replace to out of date manuals for several suits in the PF line (and other companies that use similar systems) so there is always some reference online, in case of 2nd hand purchase. Ill give a shout when its online as well..(and welcome to the flock) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. I post a video of a tr-iwing suit, flown in monowing technique...the same thing some avid monowing flyers commented to me directly when this originaly went online. Its not about any brand. This is about a certain flying technique only being attributed to one suit feature. While I believe thats limiting you a lot. As these teachings work on non monowings as well. On some very effective. On others less effective. But certainly not exclusive to one type (type...not brand) of suit, as some stated before. But everyone is free to fly how and in what he or she chooses...somewhere in the middle we'll meet...as long as we're flying.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. watch the 'fall 2009' video on flylikebrick, and please explain what part of my anatomy is steering, if its not the minimal hip and shoulder movement (altering my CG/balance and lift) Im using, but some other hidden 5th limb steering technique.?? I fly, carve, upfloat with the excact few cm movements you describe (and transitioning to an Sfly it feels the same to me). Its not a different technique, or different flying style. But rather a skill everyone should work on. More effective in one suit over another. But for sure not different or exclussive to monowing designs.. Do 'easier' in one than another.....these flying techniques feel quite slower and less responsive in bigger suits, when not flown maxed out. And often these bad 'braked flight' techniques also bleed into peoples full flight mode. Resulting in nervous flapping of wings, poor steering techniques and wavy legs. But increased speeds matching those suits flight envelope will also result in more compareable steering and flying techniques applying. But for the smaller suits Im flying, its for sure the excact input, skillls, manouvres and resulting output that some claim is exclusive to monowings. Which just prevents people from seeing any suit could be flown with that technique. But I gues our views and experiences may differ...asI said before..agreeing to disagree.. But do give the above video a good look as, for sure, hips and shoulders are doing all the precise manouvres. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. The fact that Gopro (and similar cameras) CAN break off a helmet in case of linesnag, is actually a worrying thing. As the 'easy' breaking is a reason I see more and more people (ad) Duc-tape and big metal bolts to the cameras to make sure they stay on and dont get lost due to breaking. Effectivly canceling the one 'safety feature' the camera has.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Than get of that pre-historic 28k8 phoneline, and get a normal internet connection... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. So far...no difference between what I do to upfloat/change level in my non-monowing. In the bigger suits (blade/ghost/etc) this effect only works when flown with all wing-surface tight and flat. Which is 99% of the time not how people fly those suits in a flock. So for many of the bigger suits, this technique will only be in effect when flying in the 80% to 100% range, and even there, lesser in effect because the wing surface extends outside of the 'tension line' between wrist and body and the two legs. On a few select smaller wingsuits how-ever, this flying technique indeed applies 100% in the same way. Hopefully I can show a few of the same 'monowing techniques' during the wingsuit competition. Sorry to hear several of the French teams pulling out, as it would have been interesting to see the differences and similarities... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Not in all suits..especially the bigger ones are a whole different (slower) breed. But for certain, in more suits than the ones that are known for it.. No...only in some people I know, who talk about this technique, and stress you need to buy a certain suit first to fly like that. Teach the technique seperate from wanting to make sale..it will help more people progress their flying. Same here...and I hope people see Im not trying to discredit any design or brand (far from it) but am trying to market a flying style... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. The thing that sort of surprises me, is that a lot of people only teach 'monowing flying' to people owning monowing suits. As again...the technique can also be applied to certain non-monowing (non-carpet-sized) designs. Its varies greatly for each suit in how it flies, but once people start flying their bodies more, and stop thinking in 'monowing vs tri-wing' you will see a lot of the techniques and flying skills can be applied to both. 12. On Alex' suit, about 8 or so. On Bassie's suit, 2 or 3. Several more on other peoples suit. About 30 to 40 in total. How many do you have on a shadow? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Ive flown enough as well..and also know Ive flown some newer ones that fly different. And I fly an Sfly the same I fly my current suit. A wingsuit flies due to the aerodynamic profile on the outside. The shape of the wings, and the way the body flies those wings, and how you tense that wingshape. We agree on why and how that flies. Just the views on which aspect makes it fly like that, tend to varry. Mine are listed in the mini-paragraph up here. Wing tension, wing shape, skills. Your version is 'its a monowing'. But I guess we can agree to disagree... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Awesome flying! Great looking formations! Sweet stuff guys/girls.. And kuddos +1 etc for the editing! J JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Fly it A LOT...and realise fallrates are linked to body size/weight, and (like the other two posters above say) there are many more aspects to flying than merely aiming for lowest fallrate as a measurement of succes. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Quite a few Dutch flyers around. And like you mention, Italy will be quite cool. With quite a big group of talented flyers there, the after-comp flocking will be quite awesome. So even for those not competing, plenty of cool stuff to do (and a Skyvan!) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. A little birdy (with blue/yellow color preference) told me there is some AWESOME stuff happening at the Flock University 'invitational' verticals event. Had a few sneak peeks at the pix...and all I can say is wow! Have fun these last few jumps...and show us the meat! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. I didnt miss it...I just dont post videos when people need a password to view it The moment its viewable for everyone, It'll be up there.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. regardles of the monowing defenition/discussion. Fly any (agile) tri-wing suit with a 'mono wing technique' and surprise yourself..the differences wil be smaller than many may expect.. Think outside the box..there are more options in flying than limits we oppose on ourselves.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. watch good flyers fly any suit, and its also excatly the same. My gripperless phantom (shadow) even got comments flying/looking like an s-fly (from you patrick;), though its a classic tri-wing. Having flown the GS-1, thats definately not a monowing. The body/wings are seperate units, and the body hangs beneath the wings. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Why do you think Im joking? Your previous post was pretty much saying the same... I fly a tri-wing suit (gripperless phantom) and Id gladly challenge any monowing flyer to describe the difference in flying. There isnt a distinct monowing flying aspect, outside of flying style the user chooses. Ill gladly lend you my own suit so you can fly it side by side with an expert and see it matches each aspect. Outside of different seems/cuts, the whole body flies as one wing if you make it fly that way. And any monowing can be flown badly so the suit behaves like an fs suit with 3 wings that lack tension. There are a few great flyers who showcase excelent TECHNIQUE..look at julien..he flies a JiiWings, Sfly, V3, and all in the same effortless way. Same technique, but a personal preference for one certain model. But the technique/skills are his..not design features or marketing quotes.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. And if that makes you feel better you may JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Ive flown the Sfly expert, ProFly, several tonysuits, BM, PF, JiWings and more, and fully stand by the previous statement based on that experience. Suits may flap, have grippers or not, and big or small wings. But the whole monowing discussion is nothing but a tagline. I fly an expert, ghost, classic, stealth2 and shadow the same. The fly different due to many aspects, but mino/tri wing design is not one of them. There is a proper flying technique some confuse with suit design..teach the skills instead of the continued 'but its a monowing' line that just creates more different fractions. Everyone sticks to his/her brand, but flying blindfolded some people would have a hard time actually knowing what suit they are flying. Aside from visually seeing different coloured fabric, and missing a sidewall in the cells/arms/legs, most designs by tony and pf also feature inflated arms/legs. Forming one big wing. Monowing? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Mono-wing is a marketing term and a VISUAL aspect that makes up a wingsuit. A lot of suits in TonySuits line, and several in the PF line would also fit that description. Mono-wing is not a term that relates to anything suchs as flying style, performance or steering/manouvring ability. Bigger suits fly a big more sluggish if they are not built for forward speed. But the same flying style (with small variations in terms of body build/weight and wing/suit design) can be applied to all wingsuit models on the market. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. V3 aside, thats the same leadtime for PF, and I think FYB offers even quicker lead times due to their stock/sizes. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
