Put Perry in a Sugar Glider! And fill up the cells in the suit with Helium! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Dont know..I dont think it counts if its not on video and we dont turn in un-edited footage via email.. I think we might have to just accept that we'll loose and watch someone else be the 'first' Do think Perry should take a stab at this one... Insane amounts of experience..being a fantastic flyer...AND the right weight to fly the looongest times ever....the guy is unbeatable..(we'll..you CAN beat him..but he'll probably like it and scream for more) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Nice..the first real contest with prize-money! But a too bad it a long freefall time contest. Distance or artistics would mean everybody would have an equal chance...longest freefall could end up being a skinny/light people contest (or 'people that sport and mind what they eat' and dont weigh more then a truckload of anvils) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Doing both works, but I only do the 'pack grommit to pin' part (no cut corners) and have always have nice clean openings... Only one or two second hasitations on opening have been when I packed it grommit to reserve (like intended) for a freefly jump, and went wingsuiting instead...testing on the ground (pulling my bridle/pilot at a 45 degree angle backwards) seemed to show that my main/bag sort of 'locked' in the packing tray...this doesnt happen when its packed 'standing up' since then I never bothered packing different again, and always do grommit to pin (also for 'regular-old-fashioned' freefall) Edit: And doing a good powerfull throw also helps.. A friend of mine kept having bad openings (lots of twists) so we mounted his video-camera backwards to film his pull/opening etc. and we noticed that he just did a weak throw, and the pilot did a small dance on his wing, but, right foot, and THEN hit clean air, while dancing all over the place, twising the whole thing up as it came out.. Getting some video of yourself opening (backward mounted camera, or someone you can trust skill-wise not to fly INTO your canopy when you open) and getting some good material to see and analise what you are doing might also help...its always a combo of material and technique edit 2: A larger pilotchute helps it catch air easyer, as you will be having a much larger burble then you'd normaly have on a reg. freefall jump JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Packing 'grommit to pin' also seems to help a lot of people (if you can fit your main/D-bag in there that way) That way the bag doesnt have to make a 90 to 180 degree 'flip' if you're pulling with a lot of forward movement still going on... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

EYey...here's the promised video http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=4001 This was my first jump on the tracking-gear (I'm the one filming) and its quite easy and smooth in terms of flying. The only thing I kept forgetting was that backflying is a bit impossible (arms loose presure, legwing tips you headdown) so as soon as I do a transition onto my back, you see me drop out of the sky like a homesick fridge These 2 jumps where made to get some promotional shots of the Impact. So a few flyby's and different style openings (wingsuit pull/classic skydive pull) etc. not real fancy flocking/docking.. But looking at the ground at 1:28 in the video, and then again just 12 seconds later, (for those who know the layout of Empuria a bit) you can see there's quite a lot of distance traveled.. I could also fly directly above and even slighly lagging behind the other Impact suit, which means there is plenty of forward speed, otherwise I would have been eating burble Anyways..I definately enjoyed flying the suit and will be putting a lot more jumps on the suit when I get my own order in.. Like mentioned earlyer by scott, there's some cool photo's David Haygarth took on the wingsuit/Impact dives but you'll need to have some patience..those will be out soon as well...enjoy! Any people coming from the UK (by boat) looking for a place to stay on their way over the Germany, just send me a PM or email...plenty of room here JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think that having a decent amount of experience (and whatever that may be is always open te debate) is definately a wise thing when it comes to anything outside normal skydiving...trackingsuits/wingsuits etc. definately fit that catagory I think... As for a performance difference when wearing it over the leg straps..you'll definately get more inflation..but we didnt jump it this way, so I have no first hand experience in that department.. I've just compressed a short video with some flocking done in the Impact suits...I'll upload it first thing tomorrow morning when I come into work (need to catch some sleep now, spent too much of my day fighting pixels) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think this is about 2/3 of the way up to a prodigy/classic in terms of flight characteristics.. Even though the arms seem to be the biggest on the suit, when flying it, its mostly the leg-power you notice. It puts you at a high angle of attack, and really pushes you through the sky.. Technicaly, the name says tracking suit, and the lack of wings would free it up for people with lesser jumps. But seeing the distance traveled on a jump, the need the need to fly a good patern its definately something open for debate.. I personaly would classify it as a small wingsuit, and think it should be treated like that (experience-wise) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

'beat us' all you want I guess thats the difference between 'us europeans' and 'you yanks' hehe.. Things CAN be cool without having to put a 'first' sticker on it JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

ooh yea...'freedom fries' hehehe Any word on how that whole SEND THE STATUE OF LIBERTY BACK TO FRANCE!!! thing worked out? *edit* And a small edit. In talking to one (french) wingsuiter, I got told that its probably also the fact that both Matter and FlyYourBody seem to focus their attention to the EU (and especialy French speaking) market more in terms of advertising and promotion seems to help a lot in their big market-share in that part of the world... I'll see if I can post the video of the 2 ways I did with jari. Both wearing an Impact suit, I could fly about 1,5 meter above him, wingsuit style, and not catch any burble..and filming Jari's opening (who pulled a bit higher for video, showing different opening methods...classic skydive pull and wingsuit pull the next jump) the openings look exactly like a wingsuit opening (with me continuing to fly forward, and the canopy disapearing behind me) even with me rolling over on my back.. So for in-flight feedback....it feels like a wingsuit....the arms inflate to such a nice wingshape...it feels like the wings on a classic..same goes for the legwing...you can push on it hard, and you can feel it drive you forward..its amazing...and way easy! From the experiences we had in Empuria, also taking a few first flight students up in it (and them perfoming, in terms of time and distance, quite like most first jump students), it is now being taken into account for wingsuit training (as an option). With rules (as for jump-numbers) being a bit vague...is this a trackingsuit (lower jump numbers would be ok?) or a small wingsuit (200 jumps rule)? We also did some awesome fourways with wingsuits, but story and pictures on that one later I've jumped tracking suits before, and this definatly feels more like a wingsuit then it feels like a tracking suit. I know Pete and Markus jumped the Impact in a base envirmoment (but choose to first try it without the legwing) and they where both extremely happy.. Some of their footage is in the Impact promo (linked to in my sig. line), but like I sayd earlyer...when I get home from work tomorrow, I'll post the whole video.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

People like to talk...but not everything you hear is the truth... A bit of a side-subject, in Empuria we did some first flight instruction with the new Impact suit from BM. The forward speed and fallrates we where getting on our first jump (2 way with playing) is quite comparable to a small beginners wingsuit. If anyone is interested I can post some video of those jumps later tonight.. It seemed like great suit for first flights.. and small ps. I was quite amazed in Empuria Brava....most you saw there was the new 'tracer' beginner suit from Matter and the Acces suit from loic...seems to have quite a market in the lower parts of europe...you dont really see those a lot in the US do you? Just roamed through my hard-drive and found this old edit, with some footage from summer last year. It has some small hints at early tries at carving (in the direction of flight) and the double whammy (linked front/backflying flip flipover flip thingy!) Bare in mind that this is over a year ago, and monkeys do learn new tricks http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3991 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Okay...busted...we fly like bricks...editing is just used to hide the shoddy flying bits hehe And as for seeing footage...no worries..more stuff is coming online this summer...got close to 5 hours of un-edited footage on my HD and we hope to get a third flyer into our act as an outside-camera to show our stuff a bit clearer... But untill that time, you'll just have to believe us on our word, while we can be found on dropzones around belgium and holland signing autographs on wingsuit flyers logbooks for all the 'first' moves we've invented ofcourse JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We've had some early attempts with me in an s3s, and costyn in his classic II, but it seems to work better in matching suits (or at least suits where you can both maintain the same fallrate/forward speed on your back). The stuff we've been doing the last few months has all been s3s on both flyers. Having the same suits (and same chubby bodies) The key in making it work seems to be that the backflyer has to pivot over/around the bellyflyer (who's doing the transition to backflying) So the belly2back flyer is the centerpoint of the rotation.. If the bellyflyer does a flip over the backflyer, it catches so much momentum, that its hard to stop it on your back (and you end up nearly ripping each others arms off) This coming weekend we'll be playing in belgium, we'll see if we can push Darren into filming Costyn and me on a 2 way, and get it on tape from an outside perspective.. *edit* And Sarah, without overdoing it, that was some of the smoothest flying I've seen anyone do on their first flocking dives. You have a very 'clean' way of flying, and those docks you made where awesome.. Try and make it to Texel July for some mad flocking fun!! And any girl that jumps into a Porter in a wet T-Shirt, trying to hop into her wingsuit while running has an instant fan-base David should have his CD with photo's by now, but if not scoot over an email, and I'll send em to you directly.. Video is also coming soon.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
I gues it doesnt count if the docks are made in other suits? Together with Roel and Costyn, we've done belly-docks with one backflyer, and bellyflyer above (would that be a bi-plane thing?) just a gentle bump, and continue to fly it.. Did some cool flying last week in Empuria, with one backflyer, resting his legs on the shoulder/arm of a belly-flyer behind/slighly underneath him (bit of a stairstep kinda figure...called it 'lazy legs') And still have to get some good video of our 'Double Whammy' (backflyer and bellyflyer docked, flipping over, turning the bellyflyer into the backflyer and vice-versa..) Just dont see why it couldnt only be done in an acro, and not in a Phantom, Firebird, S6, V1 etc. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

"Natural" wind tunnel testing for a new wingsuit

In terms of speed, it seems more logical to test in on the back of a driving flatbed truck, then on a boat? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
No..the clips are just not online yet.... Baby-steps..baby steps...we'll try and work that into the next update.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
