All joking aside...if you look how far the flying has come in just 2 or 3 years.. bigway/flocking events used to focus on learning people to fly in formations...but now, more and more, we focus on the actual formations, as people are flying/practicing..a lot! the typical 'feet on your ass' flocking we're still seeing is just the 'problem' of the flock usualy adjusting to the least skilled flyer (fastest faller)...but as the skills level increases...flocks will start to fly more and more... What I'd hope to see in the future is some kind of invitational bigway event..organised like RW/FF bigways....selecting people based on their flying skills..and doing slotperfect jumps..big ones....fast ones....long ones... The '60 jumps' is what most people would say 'is enough' and what seems to be recomended at minimum for tracking suits. The trouble you could get into (other canopys/getting 'lost'/freefallers etc) due to the massive amount of distance you can travel, makes me think more jumps (be it 200..be it whatever number) seems to just make your jumping safer.. why rush things... The potato bridge is a good start. Learn to walk before you run....... Isnt that a bit low for wingsuit jumps? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Seeing as the S-6 and S3-S are the same suit, (aside from a few material/construction improvements) thats a damn funny statement.. Cool...it'd be nice to finaly see one in a formation instead of beneath it JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

When you compare the Matter to the S-fly, both in construction and smooth 'lines', the S-fly is a hands-down winner. And when you look at the flying, the S-fly doesnt flap all over the place..unlike most matter2/3's out there... S-fly> developed for max flight Matter> developed for cheepest construction Which one would you buy? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The recently posted french video on skydivingmovies has an orange matter2 or 3 if Im correct... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Although I fully agree about EP and the need to do them asap when a canopy is messed up, nobody was there in his shoes (gloves) when this mall happened but him... With the altitude he had, and any feelings (or lack of feeling in the hands) with the wings/gloves being in the way, unzipping first doesnt sound like too crazy a thing to do...even if its only a psycological thing...you dont want to be grabbing for a reserve handle in thick gloves do you? And yes, watching the video it takes quite some time, and I too would yell 'f*ck the gloves...do the 'chop-katching' thingy first...but I wasnt there...and the gloved hands sound scary enough to me to justify what he did... I think there's other suits that flap just as much you'd be better of buying an 'original' S-Fly instead of the dodgy copy JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The performance most people get out of the acces, is quite simulair (or beyond) to what a Classic can and will do, and is definately a step beyond a 'mere' tracking-suit... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Heyhey...great video...nice tight flying..looks like a lot of fun! If you guys are ever organising some wingsuit get-togethers in Soulac, Spa, Rojan or wherever...drop us a line and we'll come and play..its only a short drive from Holland! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I know you werent planning on jumping the balloon anymore...I was just ranting ...(and trying to work on my post-whore status here) But jumping your suit for the first time...hope you have a ball and definately hope to see you grow addicted to this incredible dicipline...! not aimed at you in particular.. but quite often, when someone with little to no experience comes in here and asks what to do....its seems like they're only yelling 'look at me!' instead of honestly asking for advice... As when a lot of people say 'dont..its not smart' they dont listen..but do what they originaly planned..and come up with a lot of excuses and reasons for doing so... If you're asking for advice...and people give it to you...listen to what the majority says...most of them have made mistakes before and learned from them..no reason for you to make their mistakes again (or to make all new ones) And most people in here reasoned it wasnt smart....maybe they're on to something... If that extra zero (or even just a 1) was in the more detailed profile where it sayd wingsuit jumps...maybe...yea... Everybody in this forum WANTS the entire world hooked on wingsuits....they just want it to happen in a safe way.. And there are safer ways to make your first wingsuit jump then a still-air exit from not too much altitude... so yea... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

200 meters to recover from instability AND getting stable again and doing another practice pull? Thats only for those able to plann their instabilty I think People quite often lose a couple of thousand feet or more in serious flips or spins...200 meters is quite on the uber-skilled self-assured side JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

It will take more then 5 mins........ As long as they only charge 5 minutes you'll be ok JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

So you're saying that 16 would be a perfect age to start basejumping, and directly get started on aerials? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I had (minor compared to you, but quite identical) damage like that on my s3, from when I was learning to backfly. The legwing flapped so much on my back (as I could fly it fully tensed) and the flapping started tearing into the suit after a dozen or so jumps.. It could be that, or people rented the suit, who didnt properly fit it. And started tearing the seems when sitting down in the airplane..? If you email birdman they'll gladly repair it for you, or send you a patch of fabric. But any rigger will be able to fix this for you in 5 minutes...most of then have the material in their shop.. me and J-lo ordered ours (s3s) 3,5 weeks before a boogie last year. The suits where delivered the morning before leaving... lead times seem to vary depending on how busy it is...(which is logical) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

As long as you cant accidently reach for you pilot 'through' the hole, everyone should be ok JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The VKB G3 would already be quite a nice subject of discussion..with the rig forming a rigid airfoil with the body... But its still an airfoil constructed around a human body. When compared to the channel-crossing glider, that jumper is merely hanging under a wing (which would probably fly better if the jumper wasnt there) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I wasnt really interested in the landing idea...but just curious about any effects the close proximity to the walls might have on ones flying.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
Other question for the you VKB folks... A lot of people have been talking about landing a wingsuit and how groundeffect might come into play.. Completely ignoring the landing of a wingsuit (dont want to start another discussion on that...do a search if anyone cares) But flying as close to the ground/cliffs as you guys do.. When you are flying over edges etc. Do you get any extra noticable lift or turbulence coming from the rocks? Or is a track/wingsuit simply to small to really produce any noticable effect? Just wondering....? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
